What Is A Song?

A song is a single (and often standalone) work of music intended to

be sung by the human voice with distinct and fixed pitches and
patterns using sound and silence and a variety of forms that often
include the repetition of sections
1. GENERAL STRUCTURE OF SONGS

a. Intro

• the introduction establishes melodic, harmonic, and/or

rhythmic related to the main body of song.

b. Verse

• it is the section of the song structure that tells the

story. This is the exposition, describing the scene or the
person, or an emotion.
c. Chorus of Refrain

• A Chorus is the most repeated section, so it's the easiest remembered. A

chorus is the summary of the song's story. All the verses have been leading
up to the chorus, and is usually the part of the song people sing along with.
A chorus can come at the beginning of the song structure; it can also start
in the middle, or come at the end. In fact, some songs don't have choruses
at all.
e. Bridge

• This is the part of the song that. It can suddenly change tempo, or
volume, or instrumentation. The bridge is the section that gives the
audience time to reflect on the story, or gives them the "climax" or
conclusion of the story through verses and chorus. Bridges can be
used to give the singer a break.

SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS

SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS
(FEAT. COLDPLAY)

[Intro] [Bridge: Chris Martin]

I want something just like this
G A Bm A G A Bm
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
[Verse 1: Chris Martin]
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
I've been reading books of old
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
The legends, and the myths
Oh, I want something just like this
Achilles, and his gold
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Hercules, and his gifts
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
Spiderman's control
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
And Batman with his fists
And clearly I don't see myself upon that list [Chorus: Chris Martin]
Oh, I want something just like this
[Pre-Chorus: Chris Martin] I want something just like this
She said, where'd you wanna go?
[Verse 2: Chris Martin]
How much you wanna risk?
I've been reading books of old
I'm not looking for somebody
The legends, and the myths
With some superhuman gifts
The testaments they told
Some superhero
The moon, and its eclipse
Some fairytale bliss
And Superman unrolls
Just something I can turn to
A suit before he lifts
Somebody I can kiss
But I'm not the kind of person that it fits
[Pre-Chorus: Chris Martin] [Pre-Chorus: Chris Martin]
She said, where'd you wanna go? Where'd you wanna go?
How much you wanna risk? How much you wanna risk?
I'm not looking for somebody I'm not looking for somebody
With some superhuman gifts With some superhuman gifts
Some superhero Some superhero
Some fairytale bliss Some fairytale bliss
Just something I can turn to Just something I can turn to
Somebody I can miss Somebody I can kiss
I want something just like this
[Chorus: Chris Martin]
I want something just like this
[Chorus: Chris Martin]
I want something just like this
Oh, I want something just like this
[Bridge: Chris Martin] Oh, I want something just like this
Oh, I want something just like this Oh, I want something just like this
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo Oh, I want something just like this
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Oh, I want something just like this
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
