DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRIAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

COURSE NO: EEE 101
LAB RULES
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR LAB
By the end after performing all the lab exercises, a student is expected to attain the following
outcome.
• CO4: Build basic electrical circuits and operate fundamental circuit lab equipment.
• CO5: Use computer aided design (CAD) tool to simulate DC circuits
CONDUCT
1. The students should come to class on time. No student will be allowed to enter the class 10
minutes after the scheduled time.
2. The students should not be using mobile phones in the lab.
3. Each group will prepare a datasheet after each lab experiment and have it signed by the
instructor.
4. No make-up lab is allowed for a missed experiment.
REPORTS
5. Pre-lab report: Every student is required to bring a completed pre-lab report in the lab before
doing an experiment. The pre-lab reports should be hand-written and should contain the following:
a. Top page containing Course number, name and number of the experiment, student
name and ID, group number and date of performance,
b. Circuit diagrams (relevant ones with proper labelling),
c. Answers to pre-lab questions given in the lab-sheet.
No student will be allowed to perform an experiment without bringing a complete pre-lab report
to the class.
6. Post-lab report: The post-lab reports are due a week after performing an experiment. The post
lab-reports should be computer-composed. The circuit diagrams should be drawn using
PSPICE, MS-VISIO or any other suitable software. Guidelines for preparing a post-lab report are given
below.
a. Top page containing Course number, name and number of the experiment, student
name and ID, group number and date of performance,
b. Objective of the experiment,
c. Circuit diagrams (relevant ones with proper labelling),
d. Experiment data/related plots/simulation diagram
e. Answers to post-lab questions given in the lab-sheet.
f. Discussion
Only one student from each group will submit the post-lab report of an experiment. The grade of
that report will be assigned to that particular student, not to every group member. A list of
students, who will submit which report, will be uploaded in Google Classroom after groups are
formed.
The students must not copy pre-lab or post-lab report from each other. Copied reports and the
reports copied from will not be given any credit and the concerned students will face disciplinary
actions.
MARKING:
7. The total mark in the lab in 25 and will be based on the following components.
a. Lab report (5),
b. Circuit test (5),
c. Simulation test (5),
d. Lab Participation (5) and e. Open ended lab (5).

1. Objective of the experiment:

Write the objective of the experiment here in your own words using one or two sentences.
The objective states what you were meant to learn from the experiment.

2. Circuit diagrams/block diagrams:

Use PSPICE or MS Visio to draw the circuit diagrams/block diagrams in this section. The
diagram must have a title and be properly labelled.

3. Experiment data/ Related plots:

Create tables and record the data (from the signed data sheet) into the table. Appropriate units
of data must be specified. Include data plots (if instructed in the sheet) drawn using
MATLAB/MS Excel. Plots should include proper axis labels (including units if necessary),
legends and a title. Make sure that the data points are clearly visible in the plots. Attach the
signed data sheet with your report.

4. Answer to the lab-report questions:

The questions given in the lab sheet should be answered here.

5. Discussions
Discussion may include the following topics:

• What concepts did you learn from the experiment?

• Whether there were any problems while performing the experiment.
• Explain regarding the analysis of the data:

o What did you understand from the data trend/ pattern?

o Does the experimental data match the theory?
o Evaluate and explain the error in the data.
