The dark jungle represents sin, it symbolizes the wrong path, a lost path, as they said, Dante was lost, it was a very dark place then, when Dante heard some roars / roars which were three beasts which are: LOBA: that represents the disordered passion of greed. PANTHER: which represents the disordered passion of lust. LEÓN: which represents the disordered passion of pride. VIRGIL'S APPEARANCE: When Dante was chased by these three beasts, Dante saw a light that illuminated the entire dark jungle. This light was Virgil. When Virgilio met Dante, Dante gave him his trust, then Virgilio took him by the hand and led him to the Aqueronte river. AQUERON RIVER: This river represents the river of the dead, this river is the accumulation of all the pain of the people, that is why the pain and crying are heard, these cries are a harbinger of what will be hell. In order to cross this river they needed the help of Aqueronte, the boatman of the Aqueronte river. When they reached the end of the river, they got out of the boat and went to the river bank, then they saw a cave that said the city of tears is going for me, the city of pain is going for me, and eternal perdition is going for me. which was hell also said that in hell there is no hope. Then our heroic protagonists head towards hell itself. FIRST CIRCLE OF HELL: In this place are those people who could not be baptized and those who could not know the word of God because they were born a long time ago but were virtuous people. The punishment given to these people is that they will never be able to see God but they also suffer because this place is a dark place. SECOND CIRCLE OF HELL: In this place are the incontinent sinners and particularly the lustful, this means that they are people who indulge in unbridled sexual pleasures. In this place strong storms occur that strongly drag from one place to another and hit these sinners. THIRD CIRCLE OF HELL: In this circle are the incontinent who did not know how to control their emotions. But mostly gluttonous people who did not know how to control their diet are found here. They are immersed in the mud, under an incessant rain of hail and snow, and attacked by Cerberus. FOURTH CIRCLE OF HELL: The fourth circle is guarded by Pluto, the Roman god of wealth. In this place are the prodigals who squandered their goods in vain. There are also the misers who only cared about getting more goods regardless of price or cost. Condemned to roll heavy rocks from the sides of the valley until they collided in the center. Among the condemned there are numerous clergymen, cardinals and popes. FIFTH CIRCLE OF HELL: Here are the wrathful people full of rages. Here are the lazy people who did not take advantage of their life on earth. The wrathful are immersed in the mire of their anger, condemned to hit each other. Sloths drown sunk but don't die feel like dying but that can't happen. SIXTH CIRCLE OF HELL: In the sixth circle, heretics are condemned, those who went against the beliefs of the Catholic Church, regardless of whether they believed in Christ. Heretics are found in graves being burned, they can't get out of this place and bound in chains. SEVENTH CIRCLE OF HELL: Here those who commit violence against their neighbor are punished, those who are violent with themselves and with God. They are punished in the Phlegeton, a river full of blood that seethes. And above them tongues of fire with sulfur fall. EIGHTH CIRCLE OF HELL: In the last ditch of the eighth circle, counterfeiters are punished, those who counterfeited metals, people, money or words in life. These are submerged in a well full of snakes and other terrible beasts that torment them. NINTH CIRCLE: In this circle are the treacherous, those who betrayed the beings who helped them and gave their hand. Traitors are punished by being cast supine on the ice, which covers all but their faces. LUCIFER'S KINGDOM: According to Dante, Lucifer is a being with 3 heads, these are dragon, snake body and bat wings. These heads are the opposite of the holy trinity. These 3 heads of lucifer have crushed by their jaws 3 traitors to Brutus, Casio and in the main head is Judas. PURGATORY Purgatory is the place in the underworld where souls purify their sins in order to aspire to heaven. This place is for people who repented but still sinned. When Dante arrives in purgatory, an angel marks him with his flaming sword 7 p on his forehead, which represented the 7 deadly sins. As Dante goes up the ledge, a p is being erased from his forehead, this means that he is being purified. CORNICE OF PRIDE The arrogant are forced to carry heavy stones and their backs are like lead. This means that they are always hunched over. Being always hunched over is synonymous with humiliation. At the end of the tour, a p is erased from Dante's forehead. CORNICE OF ENVY: The envious have their eyes sewn with wires because envy enters through the eyes. Seeing all this happened, another p was erased from Dante's forehead. CORNER OF WRATH: The wrathful are punished by preventing them from breathing because their anger is suffocating them. After seeing this, the angel of peace, which is the opposite of anger, erases the third p from Dante's forehead. SLOTH CORNICE: For the lazy, the punishment they had was to run and run until they reached the mercy of God. Then came the angel of the stagecoach. CORNICE OF GREED: The miser is not fair therefore it is unfair so their walk is unbalanced and they do not stop falling. Then the angel of justice came and took the fifth p. CORNICE OF GULA: Those with a sweet tooth are punished they cannot eat, they are around juicy apples so the angels warned them that if they eat they will die forever. Then the angel of abstinence came purifying him and vanishing the sixth p. CORNICE OF LUST: The lustful lovers of the flesh will have to go through columns of fire to purify themselves. Dante did not want to cross for fear but Virgilio told him that passing the ledge he could meet his beloved Beatriz. PARADISE From this moment Virgilio will no longer be the companion of our hero but will be Beatriz. MOON: On the moon are the negligent, those who made vows to God, but the storms and problems of the world made them forget their vows. MERCURY: The famous are those who, although they did good deeds, made them public. VENUS: In this place are those people who loved their neighbor, their brother, the people around them. SUN: In this place the wise abound since the light of the sun is synonymous with wisdom. MARS: In this place live the martyrs of Christianity, those who gave their lives for God. JUPITER: In this sky are the just, especially the politicians who were just. SATURN: In this place the contemplative souls live, the souls that have overcome the sin of the world. STARS: The triumphant spirits are those who triumphed against evil. CRYSTAL SKY In this place is Jesus and his entourage who adore him for eternity singing Hosanna praise God. EMPYREAL: In order to enter the empyrean, Saint Bernard accompanies Dante to reach the presence of God. The empyrean is the holy trinity. When Dante reaches the empyrean, he sees God, he was speechless, he did not know what to do or say because the knowledge he had did not compare with the beauty of God. REFLECTION I think that it is a very good concept of hell and its punishments around the sins that we commit, it represents life and how insignificant it is. It leaves a very good reflection on the day to day and our inevitable destiny. I really liked the work because it made me reflect on how a life of 90 or 80 years can ruin eternal life In the sociocultural aspect, I think that if we all found out about this work, we would live together since this book is of great reflection, especially when committing our acts, since it makes us see how horrible punishments we can have because of our own acts.
