Nowadays, millions of people in the world live in extreme poverty.
Children with empty stomachs, sick women with no medical treatment and the elderly sleeping on the streets are examples of real issues that the world should fight against. The first step to change this reality is to help those in richer countries become aware of disadvantaged people in countries in need. How can we approach this goal? There seems to be two possible approaches. Firstly, let us start with the fastest possible way to spread the news: the media. This could be good help since television, radio or the Internet are available for the vast majority of people in wealthy regions who have access to up-to-date news every minute of the day. Therefore, having the terrible situation in third-world continents exposed could be shocking but necessary to start helping those in need. Secondly, education is also a powerful weapon against poverty as it helps prevent indifference. Children ought to be taught that poverty exists and it is a difficult issue that the world has to address. Thus, consciousness can be raised as children are the seeds for the future. Undoubtedly, poverty cannot be eradicated from one day to another, however, relying on the impact of the media on people could be a great first step to start making a difference. Moreover, if we consider that we need a stronger way to struggle with this important problem, then education can be the solution, as it will help build a new future through children who need to be conscious of the difficult living conditions that exist in poorer nations. REPORT Hidden paradise in Peru Introduction The purpose of this report is to provide information about the natural touristic area called Lomas de Lúcumo, a little known natural sight in the capital of the country. A natural destination Located in the south of Lima, Lomas de Lúcumo is a big green area with small mountains locally called “lomas”. Here, the flora and fauna can be observed while trekking through all the lomas. Moreover, a number of activities is practiced during the visit of tourists- mostly locals, such as bird photography, rappel, horseback riding and rappel. The best time to visit is during the winter due to the light rain which cause the growth of bushy vegetation. Its significance to the country It is widely acknowledged that Machu Picchu is one of the most beautiful destinations around the world, however it is not the only natural wonder we have. There are hundreds of other Peruvian sights that should also be promoted. Lomas de Lúcumo is just as stunning as other natural destinations in the world, and hence, promoting it would put Peru in front of the eyes of the world again. Recommendations In conclusion, this could be a potential destination for international tourists looking for natural sites where different activities could be practiced. I would suggest our agency invests in publicity to attract more visitors to this sight. Therefore, my recommendation is that we create an international campaign promoting Lomas de Lúcumo as the best way to be in contact with nature in all our social networking sites and all through the media.
