Amen.
For most people, it’s merely a word for punctuat-
ing prayer.

But the Power of Amen can be your passcode for

accessing divine provisions, without the hindrances
to prayer most people often encounter. You’ve
certainly never read this anywhere else.

God used the Power of Amen to create the universe.

Elijah used it to lock the heavens, which he later
opened, at will.

This method is usually overlooked by many peo-

ple—yet it’s probably the most potent way of bar-
gaining with God and actually winning as…

JACOB DID;
vi
About whom it was said that he wrestled with God
and men, and prevailed. The result was that his life
was never the same again.

Here’s the real problem that a lot of people who

pray—yourself included maybe—fail to experience
an open heaven (an unhindered flow of prayers to
God and answers back from Him):

They’ve been taught to focus on the wrong causes

of hindrances and delays to prayer, or on the minor
ones. So they end up spending much of their time
and energy correcting things which have very little
impact on their prayer results.

To understand the operation of the Power of Amen,

it is imperative to first be acquainted with:

• How prayer originated from God; plus…

• The 4 types of prayer capable of producing the
results you are eager to get—which include an
unusual type of prayer Elijah used when he
first burst onto the scene.

From there, one will build on the Power of Amen

by implementing the secret (hidden in plain view)
which the Prophet Samuel gave to one whom he had
vii
just anointed to be king of Israel.

But much as it’s important what one says in prayer,

it’s even more important where the person who prays
stands. Elijah himself mentioned a place, from
which prayers can’t be denied…where God Himself
has to say, “Amen;” to those prayers. This book
reveals it all.

Besides, prayer being a timely exercise, one ought

to be well versed in God’s plans for the current
season (or situation) in which the praying is being
done. Without such knowledge, praying will be like
trying to open a locked phone or computer that
requires a new password using an old password, or
just any available password, for that matter.
It rarely works. And YOU want something better.

As Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Give us this

day our daily bread,” we may not use yesterday’s
prayer on today’s challenges. It won’t be relevant.
This day or season requires its own wisdom, and it’s
what we deal with within the pages of this book.

In the end, we discuss the two times Satan was

driven out of heaven to make our victory possible.
The Scriptures clearly talk of these two times which
have often been mistakenly referred to as one. In so
viii
doing, the full meaning of the victory purchased
for us with the blood of the Lamb isn’t realized. But
that’s about to change.

Happy reading.

DISCOVER 2 OR 3 SIMPLE
BUT POWERFUL FACTS
ABOUT PRAYER

T he first ever mention of the word pray or

prayer in the Bible appears in Genesis 20:7
where Abimelech was planning to take Abraham’s
wife for himself, thinking she was Abraham’s sister
(because that’s what he had been told). But God
intervened and said to Abimelech:

“Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a

prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live.
But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely
die, you and all who are yours.” …

So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abim-

1
elech, his wife, and his female servants…1

First, we notice that prayer is mentioned in one sen-

tence with someone being referred to as a prophet.
Incidentally, the word prophet also appears here for
the very first time in the Bible, being linked to prayer.
So the one who prays must be a prophet.

The Title You May Never Have Known You

Have
The coming of the Messiah began to be announced
many years before it happened. The prophet Moses
predicted it, saying:

“The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like
me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall
hear…” 2

Moses, as a prophet, was able to see thousands of

years into the future and announce what was coming.
So he was that kind of prophet who predicted the
future. Other prophets who also did that were Isaiah,
Jeremiah, Daniel and Micah, to name but a few.

1 Genesis 20:7, 17-18

2 Deuteronomy 18:15
2
But Abraham was a different kind of prophet. I
haven’t read anywhere in the Bible where Abraham
issued a prophecy to predict the future, saying, “The
Lord says…” So how was he a prophet?

He was a prophet in that he prayed according to

God’s will, and God heard. When the Lord wanted
to heal Abimelech, He didn’t do it directly, but
through Abraham’s prayer. (We’ll find out in chapter
2 why Abimelech couldn’t have prayed for himself).
As a matter of fact, Abraham and you have the same
title of being a prophet—if you’re a righteous person
(something to be explained in chapter 4); since it is
written:

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if

we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.3

What’s God Eager To Do For You?

The things God is waiting to do for you are called

His will. So how can you discover them, and ask
Him to do them for you?
God speaks in many different ways. For example,
He speaks through:

3 I John 5:14
3
• Dreams
• The still small voice
• The Scriptures
• Natural circumstances

a) Hearing God Through Dreams

Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet

among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a
vision; I speak to him in a dream.” 4

When all the other ways of communication seem to

be failing because a person is not paying attention,
or doesn’t perceive the message God is conveying,
God waits for the person to fall asleep. Then in a
dream, He seals their instruction (making sure it
doesn’t enter through one ear and go out through
the other)…

For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man

does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night,
when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on
their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their

4 Numbers 12:6
4
instruction.5

According to Numbers 12:7, some dreams may be

riddles (or dark sayings) which require interpreta-
tion. When such a dream comes to you, seek God’s
face for clarity by keeping the dream in the forefront
of your mind. Meditate on it consistently until He
opens up your mind and you “catch” the meaning.
You may not understand how you suddenly got the
meaning, but you’ll know with increasing clarity
(like when the morning comes) that indeed that’s
the correct meaning.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which

you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark
place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises
in your hearts;6

Another way dreams get interpreted is when you

meet someone with understanding like Joseph who
told Pharaoh the meaning of his dream. Similarly,
Daniel by prayer sought an interpretation from God
of the king’s dream (Daniel 2:16-19).

5 Job 33:14-16
6 II Peter 1:19
5
b) Hearing God Through The Still Small Voice

One day the prophet Elijah needed to hear from

God.

Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before

the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great
and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the
rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in
the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord
was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a
fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a
still small voice.7

There are many times when God does spectacular

things to get people’s attention. For example, He
caused a bush to be in flames without actually
burning in order to draw Moses near. But many
other times He speaks quietly in our hearts in a still
small voice. We may have to be quiet in His presence
if we’re to hear Him at all. He says, “Be still, and
know…” So if you don’t find time to be still you may
miss what He wants to reveal to you.

If you’ve read a Scripture, or even had a dream,

which you want God to make clear, sit still before

7 I Kings 19:11-12
6
Him, while keeping that Scripture or dream in
your mind again and again. Eventually, God will
make you have clear understandable knowledge of
it, usually by the still small voice in your heart.

c) Hearing God By Reading The Scriptures

Daniel was able to accurately calculate the number

of years which remained before Jerusalem would be
freed from captivity, by reading the Scriptures.

In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the

lineage of the Medes, who was made king over the realm
of the Chaldeans— in the first year of his reign I, Daniel,
understood by the books the number of the years
specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah
the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in
the desolations of Jerusalem.8

That knowledge enabled him to pray according to

God’s will, and he was heard. It’s even more to
our advantage if we can hear or read about a thing
promised to us by God in the Scriptures more than
once… because it increases our level of certainty
when praying.

8 Daniel 9:1-2
7
Apostle Peter told of how he and the brothers
James and John had heard the audible voice of God
while on the Mount of Transfiguration (where the
appearance of Jesus had changed before their eyes).
According to him, that voice just confirmed the
prophecies of Scripture, that God would become
flesh and dwell among men, being called the Son of
God.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which

you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place,
until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your
hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture
is of any private interpretation,9

At first, reading a Scripture gives us hope. It says

to us that at some unspecified time in the future,
we will inherit that promise or prophecy; meaning,
we will see it happening to us. Hope is like a small
light we hold on to, just enabling us to endure the
darkness and weeping of the night. But hope doesn’t
remove the darkness; we’ll soon see what does.

With hope we seek God more for the promise by

prayer, and we meditate more on the promise, until
God somehow speaks again personally to us, making

9 II Peter 1:19-20
8
us to be sure that the promise is ours by faith
right now (and not on some unclear future date).
When this happens to us, the promise or prophecy
of Scripture is said to be confirmed or made
more sure to us. Now faith changes our night into
morning, removing our darkness (or uncertainty)
and weeping.

We see this principle beautifully displayed in Abra-

ham’s life, who is the father of all who believe. In
Genesis 15, when Abraham was about 75 years
old, God made a covenant with him, in which He
promised Abraham many descendants. This was
something hard to believe because Abraham was
old, and his wife Sarah was barren.

About 25 years later, in Genesis 17, God made a

covenant with Abraham a second time. In other
words, God was confirming His covenant with
him. Not long after that, Sarah became pregnant
and had a son.

I believe it was through studying this that Abraham’s

great grandson, Joseph, was in a position to educate
Pharaoh:

And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because

the thing is established by God, and God will shortly
9
bring it to pass.10

The thing that was repeated twice by God was

established by Him. To establish is to confirm; to fix;
to make more strong, or to make more sure so that
doubts are removed. It means to move from hope
to faith; for faith is the assurance that the promise
is ours now (Hebrews 11:1).
Faith receives now.

Faith is like getting pregnant. People may not yet

see the baby. But the mother is CERTAIN that the
baby is already there, and will be seen in due time.
Similarly, faith means we’re sure that God has heard
us, and it’s only a matter of time before what we
asked for is seen.

What increases our level of certainty is that God

has revealed His will in the Scriptures, and we’ve
studied them, then asked according to His will (I
John 5:14).
Luke had this to say about the people of Berea…
about how they believed or became more sure:

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica,

in that they received the word with all readiness, and

10 Genesis 41:32
10
searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these
things were so. Therefore many of them believed, and
also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well
as men.11

d) Hearing God Through Nature

Something that happened to David caused him

to perceive or figure out for himself that God
had indeed promoted him. So his circumstances
happened to be a message (or a sign) from God.
(We discuss God’s signs further towards the end of
Chapter 3.)

Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and

timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build
him an house. And David perceived that the LORD
had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was
lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.12

Even people who have never read the Scriptures

happen to know about God, and maybe what He
is saying to them. God’s book to them is nature…
being the things He has created.

11 Acts 17:11-12
12 1 Chronicles 14:1-2 KJV
11
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes
are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are
made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they
are without excuse,13

The prophet Jeremiah was made to understand the

things God was about to do by what he saw around
him. Here’s how he told this story.

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch
of an almond tree.” Then the Lord said to me, “You have
seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” 14

Jeremiah had said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”

According to the Hebrew/Greek Interlinear Bible,
the word translated as almond appears in Strong’s
Dictionary as:

Strong’s H8247
- Transliteration: shaqed
- Part of Speech: Noun
- Definition: almond (tree).

Now the word translated as “I am ready” is very

13 Romans 1:20
14 Jeremiah 1:11-12
12
much related to “almond”, and appears as:

Strong’s H8245
- Transliteration: shaqad
- Part of Speech: Verb
- Definition: to watch, wake.

By making him see a branch of an almond (shaqed),

God was telling Jeremiah that He was ready or
watchful (shaqad) to perform His word. So the
branch that Jeremiah saw was a message from God.

Another example is how sometimes a person will

wake up at a certain time, and immediately know
that God is telling him to read a Scripture verse that
corresponds to that time. In my case, 06:04 usually
gives me the feeling of reading Romans 6:4. It could
mean something different to someone else.

I know that to some people this may seem like

guessing. But that guessing can be directed by God’s
hand. Remember how Ruth left home to glean in the
fields for leftovers, so that she and her mother-in-
law could eat. By the grace of God she happened
to land on Boaz’s field… the right field at the right
time.

We may seem to flutter about like butterflies which

13
usually look as if they aren’t sure of where they’re
going, yet they’ll always land on some flower where
they suck some nectar.

The guessing is how we figure things out… a thing

that Nehemiah had to do a lot. In the book of
Nehemiah, it is recorded about 10 times that he
prayed to the Lord. But do you know how many
times God answered him? Zero! All the time
Nehemiah had to figure it out for himself that God
had heard him. And when he and his team finished
building the wall in just 52 days, even their enemies
perceived (or knew without being told) that God had
been involved.

So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul,

in fifty-two days. And it happened, when all our enemies
heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these
things, that they were very disheartened in their own
eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by
our God.15

Even in the new testament the apostle Paul had his

own figuring out to do. Look how he and the people
with him were like butterflies, not exactly sure of
where they should go and preach the gospel next.

15 Nehemiah 6:15-16
14
Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region
of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit
to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to
Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did
not permit them. So passing by Mysia, they came down
to Troas.16

Then through a dream and some guesswork (making

a conclusion), they went to Macedonia.

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of

Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come
over to Macedonia and help us.” Now after he had seen
the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia,
concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the
gospel to them.17

Summary

God may reveal His will to us in any of the several

ways: dreams, the still small voice in the heart, read-
ing and meditating in the Scriptures and viewing
natural circumstances whose meaning we may have
to guess or figure out.

16 Acts 16:6-8
17 Acts 16:9-10
15
When we know His will, and pray according to it,
He always hears.

A person who knows God’s will, and prays according

to it, is a prophet like Abraham (though not neces-
sarily like Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah and other Bible
prophets who predicted some coming events).

THE 4 TYPES OF PRAYER FOR

GETTING YOU RESULTS

E lijah is an example of a man who knew how to

pray effectively. On two separate occasions he
prayed, and each time he got what he had prayed for.
What was his secret? How did he pray?

…The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails

much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and
he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it
did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and
the earth produced its fruit.18

18 James 5:16-18
17
The First Time Elijah Prayed

Elijah suddenly shows up out of the blue during the

time when Israel was ruled by the wicked king Ahab,
who was leading the nation astray. His wife, Jezebel,
was causing him to allow or maybe encourage the
worship of the false god, Baal.

This obviously didn’t sit well with Elijah who desired

that the people would return to the worship of
the only true God. But for that to happen, God
would need to judge them, to get their attention,
so that they’d seek His intervention. Elijah prayed
for drought… though his prayer doesn’t sound
like prayer in the sense that we’re accustomed
to.

And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said

to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom
I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years,
except at my word.” 19

The prayer of Elijah was a command of faith: “…

there shall not be…” It reminds us of what God
Himself said in the beginning:

19 I Kings 17:1
18
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was without form, and void; and darkness
was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was
hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said,
“Let there be light”; and there was light.20

Jesus later called it the God-kind of faith or the

faith of God, according to Young’s Literal Transla-
tion of the Bible.

And Jesus answering saith to them, ‘Have faith of

God;’ 21

Continuing His words in the New King James

Version:

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this

mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and
does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things
he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when
you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will
have them.22

20 Genesis 1:1-3
21 Mark 11:22 YLT98
22 Mark 11:22-24
19
So the first type of prayer is the command of
faith. And what should we command? The invisible
causes behind our visible struggles. To understand
how to effectively command by faith we must
understand the 3 levels of God’s power available to
us; namely:

1. Authority (translated from the Greek exousia

(Luke 10:19));
2. Strength (translated from the Greek dunamis
(Acts 10:38));
3. Might or mighty power (translated from the
Greek kratos (Colossians 1:11)).

a) Commanding By Using Authority

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even

the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He
said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents
and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and
nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do
not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you,
but rather rejoice because your names are written in

20
heaven.” 23

Some people are sick because Satan has sent a spirit

to cause them to be that way. There are agents of
Satan which cause:

1. Infirmities (meaning, sicknesses or bodily

weaknesses);
2. Reproaches (or insults);
3. Needs (or economic hardships);
4. Persecutions (or being pursued with the inten-
tion of causing harm);
5. Distresses (or being perplexed, experiencing
things hard to explain).

In II Corinthians 12, Paul was suffering from one

of those. So he pleaded with the Lord to remove it.
But the Lord answered:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made

perfect in weakness.” 24

The strength of God which works perfectly even for

the weak is the authority of the name of Jesus. Even

23 Luke 10:17-20
24 II Corinthians 12:9
21
those newly born again, the weak, are able to use
it. All Paul had to do was to command the spirit to
leave him.

Even the sons of a man called Sceva, who were not

believers in Christ, later copied Paul, commanding,
“In the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches, go out!”
(They succeeded for a while before some demons
found them out that their names were not yet
written in heaven.)
That’s how powerful the name of Jesus is.

So, for example, if people keep on harassing you

wherever you go, learn to command the spirit of
reproach or persecution to leave you in peace in
the name of Jesus. Do a similar thing in the case of
persistent sickness. Command the spirit of infirmity
to go out. Or when you experience persistent
business or career failure, the culprit could be the
spirit of needs. Command it to leave you because
you’re not cursed but blessed.

b) Commanding By Using Strength

Some spirits will immediately leave you when you

command them in the name of Jesus. Others will
be stubborn. To try to command them to leave, and
22
then stop before they do, is a sign of unbelief.

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why

could we not cast it out?” So Jesus said to them,
“Because of your unbelief ; for assuredly, I say to you,
if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this
mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move;
and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this
kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” 25

Unbelief is a result of lack of knowledge. For

example, Paul says in I Timothy 1:13 that he had
had unbelief because of his ignorance. So what
did the disciples not know that caused them to stop
commanding the evil spirit to leave? Jesus put it this
way:

“However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and

fasting.”

They didn’t know that when the spirit was too strong
for them to command, they could pray and fast; for
it is written:

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no

25 Matthew 17:19-21
23
might He increases strength.26

James 4:6 says: He gives more grace.

After Jesus had fasted food for 40 days, He was able

to command, “Get behind Me, Satan…” And it is
written that the devil left Him.

We may not have to fast those many days. I always

do what I feel in my heart like is the right number
of days. I’ve gone for 21 days, eating just one meal
of bread and water. I’ve also done 16. Sometimes
just 3 days of drinking water only. Other times, I’ve
done one day only, or even part of a day, without
both water and food.
You’ll learn how far you should go when you try
things out for yourself.

c) Commanding By Using Mighty Power

Daniel sought God by prayer and fasting persistently

for 21 days. Unknown to him, a high level warfare
was being waged in the heavenly places, which
would decide whether God’s answer would reach
him or not. In the end, because of his persistence,

26 Isaiah 40:29
24
he prevailed (Daniel 10:12-14).
Paul later wrote thus about such wars:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but

against principalities, against powers, against the rulers
of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places.27

The purpose of this wrestling match is to overthrow

and pin down the master spirits in the heavenly
places, which are the actual rulers of the demons
sent against us. Jesus said that no one can spoil the
goods of a strong man unless he first overpowers and
binds the strong man. These master spirits are the
strong men we must bind, but we must first throw
them down.

The mighty power we use to overthrow and

pin down these strongman spirits is nothing but
patience and longsuffering; meaning, we are to
be…

strengthened with all might, according to His glorious

power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;
giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be

27 Ephesians 6:12
25
partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.28

When we are consistent in giving thanks to

the Father for many months or years because of
what He has done for us… that overpowers the
principalities and powers. If we keep being joyful,
and giving thanks even when things have been hard
for us for a long time, the strongman spirits in the
heavenly places are actually bound. So we can spoil
their houses, casting out the demons they control.
(See a) and b) above).

It may be a while before we gain mastery over

the principalities, powers, rulers, etc. That’s why
we need longsuffering. And we need patience;
meaning, our faith will be tested by various trials,
and patience will be produced ( James 1:2-4). For
example, nothing may seem to be working as it
should, as shown below:

Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the
vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the
fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from
the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls—

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my

28 Colossians 1:11-12
26
salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make
my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my
high hills…29

In such situations the joy of the Lord, by which we

continually give thanks to Him, is our strength. In
the wrestling match with high level master spirits,
He causes our feet to be planted firmly so that we
won’t slip and fall.

Learn to be consistent even in the midst of discom-

fort. In due time, delays caused by those high level
spirits will be a thing of the past. And God will give
you quick victory after quick victory. You’ll live in
the realm of miracles, enjoying victories without
delays.

After suffering for years without seeing the ful-

fillment of his dreams, Joseph experienced swift
victories in Egypt.

Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of
the Lord tested him. The king sent and released him, the
ruler of the people let him go free. He made him lord of
his house, and ruler of all his possessions,30

29 Habakkuk 3:17-19
30 Psalms 105:19-21
27
One night he slept a prisoner in an Egyptian prison.
The next night he slept a prime minister in a palace,
in charge of all that Pharaoh had. This level of
miracles is the result of having been strengthened
with all God’s mighty power for all patience and
longsuffering with joy.

Why is it necessary to have to endure hardships

before miracles come? This is a question one may
ask. Well, I remember having a dream in which I
saw a tomato plant bearing huge tomatoes. I had to
support the stem with a stick which I had stuck into
the ground.

I seemed to understand that the huge tomatoes

were miracles. Unless the person producing those
miracles was strengthened, he would fall to the
ground and rot (just like the tomato plant would
have). Patience and longsuffering are the inner
strength we require to keep on standing.

…and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore…31

We’ve just studied what happened the first time

Elijah prayed. We’ve seen that he used the com-

31 Ephesians 6:13-14
28
mand of faith. Here we’ve commanded using the
authority of the name of Jesus, prayer and fasting,
and consistently giving thanks to the Father even in
the midst of our discomfort.

The Second Time Elijah Prayed

This time the praying was initiated by God.

And it came to pass after many days that the word of

the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go,
present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the
earth.” So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and
there was a severe famine in Samaria.32

The Lord had promised Elijah that if he presented

himself to Ahab, the Lord would send rain. Elijah
obeyed, and presented himself to Ahab. BUT it
didn’t rain!

What would you have done? Remember that to

start but then stop before the promise is fulfilled
equates to unbelief. And unbelief is a product of not
knowing something about God with respect to your
situation.

32 I Kings 18:1-2
29
Elijah knew something about God.

Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for
there is the sound of abundance of rain.” 33

He said this when it hadn’t rained for 3 and half

years… when there was not even a single cloud in
the sky. He spoke what he wanted to experience
irrespective of how things were and had been for a
long time.

In chapter 1 we learned about discovering the will

of God. What do you know to be the will of God
for you? What if what you see in your life seems
to contradict the will of God? Be like Elijah. Speak
what you want to experience.

So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to

the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground,
and put his face between his knees, and said to his
servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went
up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven
times he said, “Go again.” 34

If Elijah had spoken any words in his prayer, why

33 I Kings 18:41
34 I Kings 18:42-43
30
would the Holy Spirit not have recorded those
words? I believe no words were spoken except to the
servant. And so that makes Elijah’s prayer to have
been in silence. If he had said anything under his
breath or in his heart, I believe we’d have been told.
What was he doing?

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among

the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!35

He was just still before the Lord.

Keep silence before Me, O coastlands, and let the people

renew their strength! Let them come near, then let them
speak; let us come near together for judgment.36

KEEPING SILENCE BEFORE GOD IS PRAYING.

It is so powerful that it can cause rain to fall after 3

and half years of severe drought. Even Jesus prayed
more or less the same way to raise Lazarus from the
dead.

Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb.

It was a cave, and a stone lay against it… Then they took

35 Psalms 46:10
36 Isaiah 41:1
31
away the stone from the place where the dead man was
lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I
thank You that You have heard Me.” 37

He claimed the Father had heard Him when we

didn’t hear Him saying any prayer, except to groan
within Himself. I believe both Jesus and Elijah were
meditating in silence (Philipians 4:6-8).
We should ask or THINK to release God’s exceed-
ingly great power (Ephesians 3:20).

Other Types of Prayer

Asking or petition is the third type of prayer, after:

• the command of faith

• and thinking in silence.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if

we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And
if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know
that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.38

37 John 11:38, 41
38 I John 5:14-15
32
A petition is a compilation of reasons to remind the
Lord why He should act favorably to the petitioner.

Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and

prayed to the Lord, and said, “Remember now, O Lord,
I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with
a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.”
And Hezekiah wept bitterly.39

In Hezekiah’s case, the reasons he put up were the

things he had done for the Lord. In my case, it’s a
verse the Lord spoke to me in the still small voice in
2002 when I was reading from Hebrews 6, saying:

For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor

of love which you have shown toward His name, in that
you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.40

“…you have ministered to the saints…” means you’ve

used your faith and love to help the believers in
need with whatever you had. “…and do minister…”
means you’ve not stopped, but continued in doing so.
We see here a combination of faith and patience,
also referred to as diligence, according to Hebrews
6:11-12. So that should sum up our own reasons for

39 Isaiah 38:2-3
40 Hebrews 6:10
33
asking.
Ask because you believe that God is a rewarder
of those who diligently seek Him, by ministering
to the saints (Hebrews 11:6). And in your asking,
remind Him. That’s how to make a petition or
supplication, as it is sometimes called.

Whether we:

• Ask alone;
• Or ask together in what is usually called the
prayer of agreement (Matthew 18:19-20)—

We’re still reminding God why He should favor our

cause (Psalms 35:27). The only difference is that the
power of our asking is multiplied many times over
when we are in agreement (Leviticus 26:8).

Praying For Other People

Praying for other people is also called intercession.

Why should we pray for other people? There could
be 2 main reasons; namely:

• They have no right standing with God;

• Boosting prayer power by the principle of ask-
ing together.
34
In the case where Abraham prayed for Abimelech,
I believe it was because the latter had no right
standing with God. If he’d have prayed for himself,
God would not have heard.

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot

save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your
iniquities have separated you from your God; and your
sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not
hear.41

On the other hand, Abraham had heard the gospel

and was a believer (Galatians 3:6-8). So he had right
standing with God. He was a righteous man, not
by what he had done, but by believing God…

just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to

whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:42

If his righteousness were based on works, he’d have

lost it the moment he lied to Abimelech, saying Sarah
was his sister (instead of his wife).

So we pray for others because they do not yet believe,

and they have no right standing with God.

41 Isaiah 59:1-2
42 Romans 4:6
35
Apostle Paul always implored the saints to pray for
him, although he was a righteous man. So basically
he wanted the results of his praying to be multiplied
many times through the principle of asking together.

Speaking in Tongues: Not a Type of Prayer

Praying in tongues is simply praying in another

language that just happens to have some more
descriptive vocabulary than our earthly languages.
Where I’d be at a loss for words to pray about my
situation in Sesotho or English, saying it in tongues
gets in handy.

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my

understanding is unfruitful.43

I say things my mind doesn’t understand. But the

God I am praying to hears.

So this isn’t so much a type of prayer, but a language

I can use within the different types of prayer.

43 I Corinthians 14:14
36
Summary

The different types of prayer are:

1. The command of faith; using:

a) The authority of the name of Jesus to cast out
demons;
b) The strength increased through prayer and
fasting to cast out the stubborn demons;
c) The mighty power of patience and longsuf-
fering with joy to overthrow and bind strongman
spirits in the heavenly places, by consistently giving
thanks to the Father even when things haven’t been
going our way.

2. Thinking in silence before God;

3. Petition or supplication:
i) Asking alone;
ii) Or asking together to multiply the results of
prayer many times over.

4. Intercession; praying for others because:

a) They have no right standing with God, and
He won’t hear them;
b) Or they have right standing, and we’re boosting
their prayer power by the principle of asking
together.
37
Speaking in tongues isn’t a type of prayer, but a
language we can use within the different types of
prayer, just like Sesotho and English.

THE POWER OF AMEN

I n response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from

you ever again.” And His disciples heard it.44

Jesus responded to the fig tree that had lied to Him,

by having leaves when it was not the season for figs.
The leaves were a promise to Him that perhaps He
might get some figs from it because He was hungry.
So He responded by cursing it.

Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig
tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering,
said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You

44 Mark 11:14
39
cursed has withered away.” 45

Within 24 hours, the effects of Jesus’ curse on the

tree were visible. That’s how powerful pronouncing
a curse or a blessing can be. They use the command
of faith; one of the types of prayer we saw in the
previous chapter of this book. We talked about using
it to cast out or bind invisible spirits.
Here, it is used to pronounce curses or blessings
mainly on physical objects.

The Old Covenant of the Law was called the ministry

of condemnation. When the people had sinned they
were first of all made to feel guilty, and then they
suffered punishment for their sins. For example,
under what was called “the law of jealousy”, if a man
suddenly suspected that his wife had defiled herself
through adultery… though there were no witnesses,
he could bring her to the priest.

The priest would then perform a ceremony which

could either condemn the woman to a curse if guilty,
or vindicate her if innocent. He would say to her:

“And may this water that causes the curse go into your
stomach, and make your belly swell and your thigh rot.”

45 Mark 11:20-21
40
‘Then the woman shall say, “Amen, so be it.”’ 46

Interestingly, this is the first ever mention of the

word “Amen” in the Bible. Anyway, if she was
guilty the curse that had been pronounced against
her would become so, just as she had declared,
“Amen, so be it.”

When he has made her drink the water, then it shall

be, if she has defiled herself and behaved unfaithfully
toward her husband, that the water that brings a curse
will enter her and become bitter, and her belly will
swell, her thigh will rot, and the woman will become
a curse among her people.47

However, if she wasn’t guilty she would be free from

the curse (verse 28).

Because the Law was the ministry of condemnation,

it highlighted sin more than righteousness and
curses more than blessings. Look at Deuteronomy
28, for instance. It has only 11 verses on blessings,
contrasted to 52 verses on curses! Deuteronomy 27,
which is a chapter dedicated to the power of “Amen”
has the following pattern:

46 Numbers 5:22
47 Numbers 5:27
41
‘Cursed is the one who treats his father or his mother with
contempt.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ ” 48

After this, it’s curse after curse for different acts

of disobedience, followed by “And all the people
shall say, ‘Amen!’ ” As later explained in the book of
Hebrews, every transgression received a just reward,
but those who were innocent were able to escape
the curses, through the power of Amen:

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast,

and every transgression and disobedience received a just
reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great
a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by
the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard
Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and
wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy
Spirit, according to His own will? 49

What if instead of pronouncing curses the priest

would pronounce blessing after blessing, followed
by “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ ”? That
would certainly put to maximum effect the
command of faith and the power of asking together
(see chapter 2).

48 Deuteronomy 27:16
49 Hebrews 2:2-4
42
As a matter of fact, we have a covenant waiting for
us to do just that. Paul wrote to the Corinthians and
said:

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in

Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.50

Pronouncing Blessings

I’ve written down several blessings I could recall,

and put them in the tense used in Ephesians 1:3—the
perfect tense, speaking of the blessings as having
been accomplished. So here are the blessings I have
pronounced.

YOU CAN JOIN IN BY SAYING:

Blessed is everyone who walks not in the counsel of

the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor
sits in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His

law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a
tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth

50 II Corinthians 1:20
43
its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither;
and whatever he does shall prosper (Psalms 1:1-3).
Amen, so be it to me.

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, who

has remission of sins (Psalms 32:1; Hebrews 10:17).
Amen, so be it to me.

Blessed is every person to whom the Lord does

not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no
deceit. He possesses words which when placed in
certain specific sequences produce wealth and riches
for him and his household; and his horn is exalted
with honor (Psalms 32:2; 112:3,9).
Amen, so be it to me.

Blessed is he in the city, and blessed is he in the

country (Deuteronomy 28:3).
Amen, so be it to me.

Blessed are the fruit of his body, the produce

of his ground and the increase of his herds, the
increase of his cattle and the offspring of his flocks
(Deuteronomy 28:4).
Amen, so be it to me.

Blessed is his basket and his kneading bowl

(Deuteronomy 28:5).
44
Amen, so be it to me.

Blessed is he when he comes in, and blessed is he

when he goes out (Deuteronomy 28:6).
Amen, so be it to me.

The Lord has caused their enemies who rose

against them to be defeated before their face; those
enemies who came out against them one way fled
before them seven ways (Deuteronomy 28:7).
Amen, so be it to me.

The Lord has commanded the blessing on them in

their storehouses and in all to which they have set
their hand, and they have been blessed by the Lord
in the land which the Lord their God has given
them to possess, not by their own effort, but be-
cause the Lord has favored them (Deuteronomy
28:8; Psalms 44:3).
Amen, so be it to me.

The Lord has established them as a holy people to

Himself, just as He had sworn to them (Deuteron-
omy 28:9).
Amen, so be it to me.

All peoples of the earth can see that these are called
by the name of the Lord, and the peoples of the earth
45
are afraid of them (Deuteronomy 28:10).
Amen, so be it to me.

And the Lord has granted them plenty of goods,

in the fruit of their body, in the increase of their
livestock, and in the produce of their ground, in the
land of which the Lord swore to their fathers to give
them (Deuteronomy 28:11).
Amen, so be it to me.

The Lord has opened to them His good treasure,

the heavens, to give the rain to their land in its
season, and to bless all the work of their hand.
They lend to many people, but they do not borrow
(Deuteronomy 28:12).
Amen, so be it to me.

And the Lord has made them the head and not the
tail; they are above only, and not beneath (Deuteron-
omy 28:13).
Amen, so be it to me.

Now the Lord has blessed their latter days more than
their beginning ( Job 42:12).
Amen, so be it to me.

For You, O Lord, have blessed the righteous; with

favor You surround them as with a shield. No
46
weapon formed against them prospers, and You keep
them from accusations and the brutal insults of evil
people (Psalms 5:12; 31:20; Isaiah 54:17).
Amen, so be it to me.

Praise the Lord! Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who delight greatly in His commandments. Their
descendants are mighty on earth; the generation
of the upright is blessed. Wealth and riches are
in their houses, and their righteousness endures
forever (Psalms 112:1-3).
Amen, so be it to me.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus

Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual
blessing in the heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians
1:3).

Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has

blessed me, and it cannot be reversed (Numbers
23:20).

Christ has redeemed us from all curses, and then

proclaimed, “It is finished!” having become a curse
for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who
hangs on a tree”), and the blessing of Abraham has
come upon us Gentiles in Christ Jesus, and we have
received the promise of the Spirit through faith
47
(Galatians 3:13-14); being:

For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and

floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit
on your descendants, and My blessing on your
offspring; they will spring up among the grass
like willows by the watercourses (Isaiah 44:3-4).

Thank You, Father, in the name of Jesus, for accel-

erating my progress as You helped Nehemiah to
complete building the wall of Jerusalem in record
time—in 52 days even though there had been those
who opposed the work. I am prospering and con-
tinuing to prosper, just like Isaac. I thrive even in
adversity (Psalms 92:12).

Things Worth Cursing

Let there be no more sorcery against me and

my household, nor any divination against us. It
now must be said of us, ‘Oh, what God has done!’
(Numbers 23:23). Let our mouths be filled with
laughter, and our tongues with singing. Let them
say among the nations, “The Lord has done great
things for them” (Psalms 126:2). Therefore we are
too mighty for those who curse us. Surely they shall
never be able to defeat us and drive us out of our
48
inheritance from God (Numbers 22:6).

Surely every altar erected against my family’s pros-

perity and health is splitting apart, and the ashes on
it are being poured out, in the name of Jesus Christ
(I Kings 13:3).

So every department of Satan’s government that

worked against me and my family, be it by worship,
false prophecy and the power of witchcraft… is
cursed, and is diminishing fast, in the name of Jesus
Christ.
Amen, so be it to me.

But we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,

a holy nation, His own special people, that we may
proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of
darkness into His marvelous light; who once were
not a people but are now the people of God, who had
not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy (I
Peter 2:9-10).

What then shall we SAY to these things? If God is

for us, who can be against us? I also SAY of the
Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in
Him I trust.”

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing

49
praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare
Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your
faithfulness every night. For You, Lord, have made
me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the
works of Your hands.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I

fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom
shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against
me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they
stumbled and fell.
Hallelujah!

But You (Unlike Them)

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or

‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For
after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your
heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.51

After which things do the Gentiles seek? Things

to be eaten (meaning, food), to be drunk, and to
be worn. And how do they seek after them? By
worrying about the future, asking, “What shall
we eat, drink or wear?”

51 Matthew 6:31-32
50
But [you, unlike them] seek first the kingdom of God
and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added
to you.52

Seeking the kingdom of God involves thinking or,

as explained in the Scripture passage below, setting
or fixing the mind on what is being sought. That
means continually thinking about it…

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things

which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right
hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on
things on the earth.53

According to the preceding passage, those who seek

things above, including the kingdom of God, should
be those who fulfill the condition…
“If you were raised with Christ…” which I’m going
to show that it means: if you have the proof that
you’ve been declared righteous…

Young’s Literal Translation quotes Romans 4:25

this way:

[Christ] was delivered up because of our offences, and was

52 Matthew 6:33
53 Colossians 3:1-2
51
raised up because of our being declared righteous.

Christ was raised from death when He had fulfilled

God’s requirement for our being declared righteous.
So believing in the resurrection of Christ is sim-
ilar to believing that we’ve been declared righteous.
That faith is the proof of our righteousness, and
so of our having found God’s kingdom (Matthew
6:33; Romans 14:17).

Therefore, we can continually set our minds on

this kingdom which we’ve found together with its
righteousness. That way we’ll be…

Seeking a Higher Life Hidden in God

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in

God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also
will appear with Him in glory.54

Christ is the Greek word for the Messiah or the

Anointed One. So “Christ” can be used to refer to
“the anointing”.

Paraphrasing the above Scripture passage, we get:

54 Colossians 3:3-4
52
For you died, and your life is hidden with [the
anointing] in God. When [the anointing which] is
our life [is revealed], then you also will appear with
[the Anointed One] in glory.

So THE ANOINTING is our new hidden life

which must be revealed when breaking through
our hardships if we continually think about it.

***

But seek first [the anointed life hidden in God by

continually thinking about it], and all these things
[food, drink, clothing and everything you need] shall
be added to you.

David is a good example of someone whose anointed

life we can study. That’s how we can set our
minds on the anointing. He was anointed 3 times
to be a king (this continues to connect the anointing
and “the kingdom of God” which we were to seek).

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in

the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came
upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose
and went to Ramah.55

55 I Samuel 16:13
53
This anointing set David apart from his brothers
(in fact, it set him above them). It was God’s mecha-
nism for selecting him from among them.

But though he temporarily went back to herding

sheep (doing an ordinary kind of work, he did it
with distinction after being anointed, even being
able to slay both a lion and a bear when they attacked
the sheep).

I believe our entry level anointing is associated with

our use of the name of Jesus from the moment
we’re born again. So we use it to cast out (or
command as kings) the invisible spiritual causes of
the obstacles that visibly hinder or slow down our
progress.

Commanding as a King/Commander—Level 1

You, spirit of needs, causing me business or career

stagnation, I command you by the authority and
anointing invested in the name of Jesus Christ: get
out of my life ( Job 1:9-10). Now, I also command
a spirit from God to help me to quickly build
a prosperous career and thriving businesses for
myself and the members of my household, just like
Nehemiah also completed rebuilding the wall of
54
Jerusalem in a mere 52 days.

You, spirit of insults and persecutions, I command

you by the authority and anointing invested in the
name of Jesus Christ: get out of my life. Now, I
also command a spirit from God to cause me to be
favored by all the people wherever I go, and to be
shielded on all sides from being disgraced or harmed
in any way.

You, spirit of infirmities, I command you by the au-

thority and anointing invested in the name of Jesus
Christ: get out of my life. Now, I also command
a spirit from God to strengthen every organ of my
body so that it is healthy and without weakness or
disease; for by the stripes of Jesus Christ we were
healed.

The Parable of The Older Son

The parable of the prodigal son is named so because

people’s emphasis has always been on the younger son.
Jesus related a story of how this son asked for, and
was given, a share of his father’s wealth. Unfortu-
nately, he squandered it with wayward living.

In the end, when he had suffered lack and had

55
nothing left, he returned home to his father, who
was so overjoyed to see his son that he threw a party
to welcome him back. But this was just as much the
parable of the older son as it was of the younger
son.

Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and
drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing…

So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many

years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your
commandment at any time; and yet you never gave
me a young goat, that I might make merry with my
friends…’

And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and
all that I have is yours.’ 56

The older son was waiting (and working hard) to

be given what was already his. This was because of
lack of knowledge on his part.

There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it

is common among men: A man to whom God has given
riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing
for himself of all he desires; yet God does not give him

56 Luke 15:25, 29-29, 31

56
power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is
vanity, and it is an evil affliction.57

The power that God gives to us who have faith, so

that we can partake of all that He has already given
us (in the form of riches, wealth and honor) is the
knowledge of righteousness.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is

the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes,
for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the
righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith;
as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” 58

THE POWER to partake of riches, wealth and

honor (so that we lack nothing) is THE KNOWL-
EDGE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

I know (and this is my power) that:

[Christ] was delivered up because of our offences, and

was raised up because of our being declared righ-
teous.59

57 Ecclesiastes 6:1-2
58 Romans 1:16-17
59 Romans 4:25 YLT98
57
By the resurrection from the dead, Christ was
declared to be the Son of God with power (Romans
1:4), and we were declared to be righteous. We
must appear as sons of God with power over
the whole creation together with Him.

For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly

waits for the revealing of the sons of God.60

Through our understanding (as mature sons), we are

being revealed as masters of the creation:

Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does

not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of
all… the elements of the world.61

Satan didn’t hesitate to use this rulership over the

whole world when he was given the chance to do so.
We see this when he was tempting Jesus:

Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain,

showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a
moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this
authority I will give You, and their glory; for this

60 Romans 8:19
61 Galatians 4:1, 3
58
has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I
wish.” 62

Are we who believe not like the older son who

was master of all, yet still worked for, and waited
to be given, what was already his? PRAYER:
Give me understanding, Father, of how to exert
rulership over all that is rightfully mine through
Christ’s death and resurrection.

Rulership Over Money

How should money behave towards me? Here are

some guidelines:

1. Money, you shall respect me as your master

through Christ’s death and resurrection.
2. I require you to be plentiful in all my storage
places, like my pockets, my bag, mobile money
accounts and bank accounts.
3. Money-receiving opportunities shall appear to
me even where other people see disaster, or a
reason to complain.
4. I shall not run short of money for any project,
big or small; and money shall never be a deter-

62 Luke 4:5-6
59
mining factor whether or not I should pursue
a goal.

Oh, give thanks to the Father in the name of Jesus,

for He is good! For His mercy towards me and
my bloodline endures forever. We the redeemed
of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from
the hand of the enemy who would encamp against us
and destroy the produce of our sowing, leaving no
sustenance for us. Therefore, we shall no longer
be impoverished; forever ( Judges 6:4-6; Psalms
107:1-2).

Again, it is written:
A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him
before great men.63

I acknowledge that I have the gift of righteousness

from God, by which I reign over men and my
circumstances, commanding them to add to me all
the things I need without sweat or sorrow on my
part in the name of Jesus (Romans 5:17; Matthew
6:33; Proverbs 10:22; II Samuel 23:3).

Let tens of thousands of Maloti, Rands, Dollars

and all the major world currencies daily find their

63 Proverbs 18:16
60
way into my hands and my storage places because
the Lord has blessed me for explosive expansion (I
Chronicles 4:9-10; Hebrews 6:7,10).
Amen.

The Second Anointing of David

Next, David was anointed by the men of Judah. And

he began to command blessings on those who had
done good.

Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed

David king over the house of Judah. And they told
David, saying, “The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones
who buried Saul.”

So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead,

and said to them, “You are blessed of the Lord, for you
have shown this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have
buried him…” 64

64 II Samuel 2:4-5, 7
61
Commanding as a King/Commander—Level 2

This second anointing is what I’ve called the Power

of Amen, by which we command blessings DAILY
over visible objects.

The Third Anointing of David

Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at

Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them
at Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David
king over Israel.65

This third anointing didn’t just set David apart from

his brothers or tribe ( Judah), but above other tribes
(of Israel) and the nations as well, to command or
have an influence on them.

Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and

cedar trees, with masons and carpenters, to build him a
house. So David knew that the Lord had established
him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly
exalted for the sake of His people Israel.66

65 II Samuel 5:3
66 I Chronicles 14:1-2
62
So, like David, we’re going to have a covenant, based
on the Lord’s promise in Isaiah 55, for having an
influence over a larger portion of the people.

Commanding as a King/Commander—Level 3

I love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore

God, my God, has anointed me to be king with the
oil of gladness above my fellows (Psalm 45:7).

In that way, I have sought first the kingdom of God

and His righteousness, and all the things the Gentiles
seek after, things which my heavenly Father knows
that I need, which include money, favor and wisdom,
have started to be added to me and continue to be
added (Matthew 6:32-33; Hebrews 11:1).

Sadness and timidity are not my portion, as it is written:

But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have
been anointed with fresh oil. My eye also has seen
my desire on my enemies; my ears hear my desire on
the wicked who rise up against me. They stumbled
and fell (Psalms 27:3; 92:10-11).

Surely goodness and mercy [in the sight of men,

including kings and all those in authority] shall
follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell
63
in the house of the Lord forever (Psalms 23:6;
Nehemiah 1:11).

That means I am a son of God, and not a slave; for

Jesus said: “And a slave does not abide in the house
forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if
the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed”
( John 8:35-36). I am free indeed. And I stand fast
therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made
us free. I will not be entangled again with a yoke of
bondage (Galatians 5:1).

As a son of God, I am a joint heir together with

Christ. So I inherit salvation. Therefore, I command
angels to serve me (Matthew 8:9; Hebrews 1:14).

God has made an everlasting covenant with

me—the SURE mercies of David—ordered in
all things like wealth, riches, promotion, health,
security; for me and my family: for this is all my
salvation, and all my desire (2 Samuel 23:5).

SURELY I call a nation I do not know, and let

nations who do not know me run to me to assist
me to establish a prosperous career and thriving
businesses for myself and the members of my fam-
ily… like Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers and
resources to build David a house.
64
So finally I’m also appearing with the Lord Jesus
Christ in glorious power, having pinned down
principalities and powers, and experiencing daily
miracles, being filled with every good thing (Colos-
sians 1:11-14;3:3-4; Psalms 34:8-10).
Amen.

Doing As The Occasion Demands

And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do
as the occasion demands; for God is with you.67

What is a sign? Something that can be seen, pointing

to another thing not yet seen. For example, a
signpost along the way points to the presence of
our destination ahead of us. Similarly, it may not be
so obvious that God is with a person. That includes
those He has anointed to be a king or commander.

So Samuel informed Saul about certain signs so that

he could expect them. We may not necessarily

67 I Samuel 10:7
65
have to except the same signs in our individual cases,
but what they were pointing to remains the same;
being: for God is with you.

Bible scholars follow certain rules to better under-

stand its teachings. I’ve heard of one called “the
law of first mention”. It simply states that the first
ever mention of anything usually reveals its most
important features or characteristics.

I’ve already applied it when referring to the word

“prayer” and linking it to one who prays according
to God’s will being called a prophet (in chapter 1).
We could also apply it in saying who God is. The
first ever mention of “God” is as the creator. That’s
what most clearly distinguishes Him from all the
other beings.

Now Saul’s anointing as king was the first ever in

the Bible. Studying it will reveal its most significant
feature: “DO AS THE OCCASION DEMANDS;
for God is with you.” Many times the occasion
demanded that Jesus do good and heal all who were
sick (Acts 10:38).

Part of knowing what the occasion demands is

understanding the times and seasons we’re living
in (which will be discussed in chapter 6 of this
66
book). What’s most important, though, is that the
anointing should inspire us into action… to
do deeds as demanded by any situation we find
ourselves in. Without these deeds, we may miss
the best that the anointing has to offer.

A BETTER PLACE TO PRAY

FROM

C ommon sense dictates that if I want to stand

a better chance that you’ll hear me speaking
to you I need to be near you. The farther someone
is from you the more difficult it will be for them to
get your message, and be able to do anything about
it. Closeness or proximity is a term that can be used
to measure one’s greatness (that is, one’s ability to
get God’s attention whenever His help is required.)
So how near are you to God?

For what great nation is there that has God so near to

it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we

68
may call upon Him? 68

Here is how to get closest to God. Enter the Holiest

of All (also called the Holy of Holies). Boldness is
the key that opens the door for you.

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the

Holiest by the blood of Jesus,69

Without boldness, the door into the inner room

where God is will remain shut most of the time.
That means one will only be able to address the
Father from the outer room called the sanctuary.
Remember that closeness to God measures one’s
greatness and ability to cause Him to hear.

The Holy Spirit once showed me by the Scriptures

the people who spend most of their time in the outer
room… and what they spend their time doing. But
before I expound on the specific verses He used, let
me refer to the two sisters: Martha and Mary.

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain

village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed
Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary,

68 Deuteronomy 4:7
69 Hebrews 10:19
69
who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But
Martha was distracted with much serving, and she
approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that
my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to
help me.” 70

Martha welcomed Jesus into her house, and then

left Him there. I know this because it is said that
later she approached Him. We can only approach
someone if we were apart. In her mind, DOING
things for the Lord was more important than BEING
with Him.
But she was wrong.

Mary, on the other hand, sat right where Jesus was.

She had proximity or closeness. So even how Jesus
treated her prayer request was going to be different
from how He answered Martha. Here’s the proof:

At another time Lazarus who was a brother to both

women died. So when Jesus came to the village four
days afterwards, Martha was there to meet Him.

Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here,

my brother would not have died.” 71

70 Luke 10:38-40
71 John 11:21
70
Jesus preached to her that He was the resurrection
and the life. But He didn’t make an attempt to go
and raise him up. As He was walking on further,
Mary herself also came to meet Him.

Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him,
she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You
had been here, my brother would not have died.” 72

This was the same statement Martha had made…

one would say it was the same prayer request. But
it didn’t produce the same result. Jesus answered
Mary differently.

Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews

who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit
and was troubled. And He said, “Where have you laid
him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus
wept.73

Jesus was touched by Mary’s statement and actions

when He hadn’t been touched by Martha’s. I believe
this was because Mary was asking from a better
place, being closer to Him than Martha.

72 John 11:32
73 John 11:33-35
71
So Mary was the greater of the two sisters by
virtue of her closeness to the Lord. She received
a resurrection for their brother whereas Martha had
only got a teaching about the resurrection.

Note that Jesus only groaned in the spirit, without

uttering any words in prayer to the Father. But
amazingly, when He reached Lazarus’ tomb, He said,
“Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.” Then
with a loud voice, He called out, “Lazarus, come
forth!” And he who had died came out of the tomb.

Therefore, the wordless groaning in the spirit is one

of the types of prayer which the Father hears (as
described in chapter 2). Paul himself also had this
to say about it, especially when our weakness is that
we don’t know the correct words to utter:

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we

do not know what we should pray for as we ought,
but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered.74

74 Romans 8:26
72
Which Part of The Tabernacle Do You Pray
From?
When I woke up one morning I felt like the Holy
Spirit wanted me to read from Hebrews chapter
9. He showed me that if the priests spend most of
their time in the outer room, dealing with sin, they’d
rarely experience the inner room ministry to the
Lord. This is the passage of Scripture He used:

Now when these things had been thus prepared, the

priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle,
performing the services. But into the second part the
high priest went alone once a year, not without blood,
which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins
committed in ignorance; the Holy Spirit indicating this,
that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet
made manifest while the first tabernacle was still
standing.75

The first part of the tabernacle was where sin

offerings were being made repeatedly. No sin
offering would be made without a confession of sins.
So repeated sin offerings would be accompanied by
repeated confessions of sins by individual people
during the course of the year, and one big confession

75 Hebrews 9:6-8
73
by the high priest for all the people at year end.

Now, a person could only confess the sins

he remembered having committed. God also
happened to remember those sins committed
under the Old Covenant. And when they were
confessed He would forget them for a year, after
which He would remember them again. That is why
another cycle of sin offerings and confessions for
sin had to follow.

The blood of animals shed for the people’s sins

covered the sins only for a year. That is why these
sin offerings and confessions for sins had to be done
again and again. But under the New Covenant a
different type of blood is used. It is the blood of
God’s own Son, which hasn’t just covered our sins,
but it has wiped them away. The slate is clean. That
is why the Scripture can say:

Then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I

will remember no more.” Now where there is remission
of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

The day you stood before God and agreed with

Him that you were a sinner, seeking His mercy, He
forgave you all your sins and cleansed you from all
unrighteousness (I John 1:7-9). Now, He remembers
74
none of your sins. If you try to confess them again
He could say, “I remember none of those.” You may
try to remind Him, but He’ll say, “Sorry, I still don’t
remember. All I can see is a clean slate.”

Well, you may feel okay with that when it comes to

“past sins”, the sins you committed in the past. But
when it comes to sins committed today, you may
feel like you must confess them. In your mind they
may not have been forgiven because you haven’t
confessed them. But when God forgave your sins,
who said He categorized them as past, present and
future?
Don’t you know He forgave all your sins once, and
He was done?

By that will we have been sanctified through the offering

of the body of Jesus Christ once for all… For by one
offering He has perfected forever those who are being
sanctified.76

The word perfection means having no more con-

sciousness of sins… no longer feeling guilty. The
reason people keep on confessing sins is because
they feel guilty. According to them, the way to be
free of guilt (or sin consciousness) is by confession

76 Hebrews 10:10, 14
75
of sins.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and

the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.77

This is true when we first acknowledge that we’re

sinners. When we confess our sins He faithfully
forgives us and cleanses us from ALL unrighteous-
ness (so that none is left in us). From there, we’re
no longer sinners, but the righteousness of God in
Christ (II Corinthians 5:21).

That’s what is called perfection… when the blood

of Jesus has done fully what the blood of animals
could only do in part (Hebrews 10:1-3). The latter
provided forgiveness temporarily, and it could not
permanently take away sin consciousness (that
is, the awareness or remembrance of having sinned).

To the contrary, the blood of Jesus has provided

forgiveness of sins forever, whether sins in our past
or future, once for all. There’s no more offering
(and confession) of sins required.

77 I John 1:8-9
76
To make sure you beat sin consciousness forever,
practice this: when you feel guilty, instead of confess-
ing your sins (which God said He won’t remember
anyway), say, “Father, thank You for the gift of
righteousness (Romans 5:17). I have become the
righteousness of God in Christ (II Corinthians 5:21).”
That way you’ll be alive to righteousness, and dead
(or unconscious) to sins (I Peter 2:24).

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the

Holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Boldness born out of consciousness of our ever-

lasting righteousness bought for us by the blood
of Jesus is the key to greatness, and a better place
to pray from. That’s a place from which God hears
us better than those who pray from the outer
room.

Martha is a type of those who pray from afar,

always being busy with the repeated confession of
sins. (I know that confession of sins doesn’t take
much time, but it reveals a condition called sin
consciousness. One cannot be sin conscious and
righteous conscious at the same time). Mary is a
type of those who know that their sins were forgiven
once for all, and rest next to the Lord.

77
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest,
let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.78

Surrounded By Fire

Some people will read this chapter, but it may be

difficult for them to fully embrace what it teaches. I
used to wonder why, but I believe now I know. It’s
scary being close to God, for He is a consuming fire.

The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has seized

the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the de-
vouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting
burnings?” 79

The sinners in Zion are people whose sins are

forgiven, but who still have some consciousness of
sins. They are called hypocrites because they claim
to believe in the power of the blood of Jesus, but they
still treat it like it’s the blood of animals which only
produced temporary forgiveness. Being very close
to God will be uncomfortable for these people.
They can’t dwell with the devouring fire. They
must sooner or later withdraw to the outer room,

78 Hebrews 4:1
79 Isaiah 33:14
78
and start confessing their sins.

But this is a secure place for those who know that

they were forgiven once for all. This is the secret
place… unlike the sanctuary which is a very public
place.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall

abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of
the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in
Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the
snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.80

In this secret place, God’s enemies are slain. I once

had a dream in which I saw a large arm by my right
side. It was holding Satan, weak and helpless like a
newly hatched chicken, over some glowing coal fire.
And he was struggling in vain to free himself…
(To be continued in the next chapter)

When I woke up from the dream, it was as if I should

read Psalms 21. What I found there was very much
related to what I had just dreamed about…

Your hand will find all Your enemies; Your right hand
will find those who hate You. You shall make them as

80 Psalms 91:1-3
79
a fiery oven in the time of Your anger; the Lord shall
swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour
them.81

Summary

One either prays from near God or from afar.

Though two people may pray the same prayer, the
one who prays from near stirs the Lord’s emotions,
so that He acts. The one who prays from afar may
just get a teaching or a future promise. For example,
Martha received a teaching from Jesus while Mary
got a miracle.

What determines one’s position is their level of

understanding what the blood of Jesus has done
for them. If one thinks that the blood of Jesus
is just a replacement of the blood of bulls and
lambs under the Old Covenant, without realizing
its eternal consequences, he prays from the outer
room. He won’t have time to draw near to God in
the Holiest of All because he’ll be busy dealing with
sin consciousness in the outer room.

Those who approach God are surrounded by a fire

81 Psalms 21:8-9
80
that consumes His enemies, while they themselves
will be secure.

Finally, God’s presence is a fearful place for those

who haven’t been perfected in terms of conscious-
ness of sins.

GOING BACK TO THE PAST TO

FIX THE FUTURE

I n the natural, time flows from past to future, and

the things done in the past can’t be undone. But
Christ is the convergence (meeting place) of all time:
past, present and future.

Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years
old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them,
“Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I
AM.” 82

Here, Jesus points out to the convergence of the past

(before Abraham was) and the present (I AM). But

82 John 8:57-58
82
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever
(Hebrews 13:8). So He is the convergence of all times.
Through Him, we’re in the now, but also in the past
and the future. He offers us time travel, so that we
can go back in time, and fix our future.

He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By

His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
for He shall bear their iniquities.83

What Are Iniquities?

They are the faults of the prior generations which

end up affecting future generations; as it is written
below that the Lord is capable of:

keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and

transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
and the children’s children to the third and the
fourth generation.84

This means if the source of a stream is polluted all

the water flowing downstream will be polluted as

83 Isaiah 53:11
84 Exodus 34:7
83
well. So the solution is to go back to the source and
fix whatever is wrong there. Therefore, to fix the
damage done on us and our children we must go
back to the past, usually three to four generations
back.

Here’s how Gideon was commanded to deal with

his own similar situation:

And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD

said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even
the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down
the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the
grove that is by it: and build an altar unto the LORD
thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place,
and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice
with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.85

The altar of Baal (or any false god for that matter) is
not the source of the iniquity that could negatively
impact Gideon’s usefulness in God’s hand. The
source of iniquity was the grove. (This is what we’ve
got to deal with here.)

In Genesis 28:10-17 Jacob, a grandson of Abraham,

had an open heaven encounter at a place called

85 Judges 6:25-26 KJV

84
Beersheba. Unknown to him, this was marked ter-
ritory because of the activities both his grandfather
(Abraham) and his father (Isaac) had engaged in
there.

Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the
Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” And he
was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is
none other than the house of God, and this is the gate
of heaven!” 86

How had this place become the gate of heaven

through which God showed up from His hiding
place, and reshaped the destinies of Abraham’s
descendants? Let’s see how the foundation of
God’s house had been established there in previous
generations.

And Abraham planted a grove in Beer-sheba, and called

there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.87

In the first generation of Abraham’s journey with

God, he planted a grove, and then worshiped God.
It was only in the second generation, during Isaac’s
time, that Isaac built an altar to God at Beer-sheba,

86 Genesis 28:16-17
87 Genesis 21:33 KJV
85
where the grove had already been planted.

Then he went up from there to Beersheba… So he built

an altar there and called on the name of the Lord, and
he pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants dug
a well.88

So just as the righteous activities of previous gen-

erations had opened a gate of heaven at Beersheba
through which God had easy access to Jacob’s life,
the evil deeds of Gideon’s father could have opened
“a gate of hell” (Matthew 16:18) where the grove
had been planted. If Gideon hadn’t destroyed that
grove it’d have hindered him from becoming God’s
champion.

With most Basotho people, the grove is what is done

to them at birth or soon after. For example, rituals
made with their umbilical cords and presentation
to the water gods on the day when it rains are the
source of the polluted stream. These are things
done by the fathers, which negatively impact their
children, generation after generation.

88 Genesis 26:23, 25
86
Burning The Grove

BY SAYING:

I am in Christ. So through Him and by His blood, I

am able to access my past. The rituals my forebears
exposed me to, whether knowingly or unknowingly,
which have had a negative impact on my life, I cut
them down in the name of Jesus Christ with the two-
edged sword of the word of God. Even those groves
which have been hidden, I say to them, “You cannot
hide from the sharp, active and powerful word of
God. Be exposed! Be cut off, and catch fire.”

Instead of building with these rituals, I start building

my life afresh, as it is written:

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism

into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk
in newness of life.89

As the Lord told Jeremiah:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you

were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to

89 Romans 6:4
87
the nations…90

that which I was ordained before birth to be and to

do, be resurrected in me, and become my new life.

I unplug every iniquity from my flesh in the name

of Jesus, and throw it into the fire of God’s presence
where I dwell.
Amen, so be it to me.

The Dream Continued

In the previous chapter, I ended my dream where

that large hand was holding Satan over a glowing
coal fire. He was struggling in vain to free himself.

At some point in the dream I was no longer sure

whether the hand was mine or the Lord’s. So while
the Lord (or I in His name) held Satan with this huge
and mighty right hand, it felt as if the back of my
weaker left hand had been pricked by some thorns.
I was pulling them out one by one and throwing
them into the fire, exclaiming, “You offspring (or
little ones) of Satan!”

90 Jeremiah 1:5
88
So upon waking up, I was moved to read Psalms 21:

Your hand will find all Your enemies; Your right hand
will find those who hate You. You shall make them as
a fiery oven in the time of Your anger; the Lord shall
swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour
them.

Their offspring You shall destroy from the earth, and

their descendants from among the sons of men. For they
intended evil against You; they devised a plot which they
are not able to perform.91

Iniquities are the seed or offspring which Satan has

planted in the flesh of man to weaken the purpose
of God for the man. But they’re being plugged out,
and thrown into the fire, in order to be destroyed.

The Biggest Thorn of Them All

Adam’s offense is the greatest iniquity of them all.

By it death entered the world.

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through

the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace

91 Psalms 21:8-11
89
and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through
the One, Jesus Christ.92

We were born sinners by simply having human

parents, when we had not even committed any sin.
As David put it:

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin

my mother conceived me.93

Now, the remedy for this iniquity is receiving abun-

dance of grace and of the gift of righteousness. And
where sin reigned, much more should we reign in life
through Jesus Christ. Where Adam messed things up
for us, we go back there in Christ, and make things
right.

Fixing The Past That Adam Spoiled

I SAY

Under the order of being a descendant of Adam, a

member of the human race, I was born defeated. In
the words of King David:

92 Romans 5:17
93 Psalms 51:5
90
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin
my mother conceived me.

But that was not the original plan of God for my

life. In His plan, I am mighty, great and prosperous.
Victory is mine in all things:

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph

in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His
knowledge in every place.94

I am a rare breed, and I am honored for my distinc-

tion in every place.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the second

Adam, I overturn the curse which said to the first
Adam:

“Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and

have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you,
saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground
for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of
your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth
for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the
sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to
the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are,

94 II Corinthians 2:14
91
and to dust you shall return.” 95

In its place I say this:

Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to

the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according
to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
old things have passed away; behold, all things have
become new. Now all things are of God… 96

The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds

no sorrow with it.97

My blood is new, and is of God. My DNA is new.

My identity is new and prosperous.
Amen, so be it to me.

PRAYING TO UNDERSTAND
TIMES AND SEASONS

W e’ll treat this chapter as a followup on our

discussion about the anointing from chapter
3. We said that unless the anointing inspires us into
action, we may miss the best it has to offer us. It’s our
permission to act or do as the occasion demands.
So let’s continue…

Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision

known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his compan-
ions, that they might seek mercies from the God of
heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his
companions might not perish with the rest of the wise

93
men of Babylon.98

The king of Babylon, where Daniel and the rest of the

Jewish people were captives, had a dream. Normally,
he’d have to summon his wise men and tell them the
dream in order for them to interpret it for him.

This time the problem was that he had forgotten

what he had dreamed about. Still, he insisted
that the wise men should be able to give him the
interpretation. So the wise men were like, “How can
we give the interpretation when we don’t even know
the dream?”
“You interpret it, or you’re going to die,” was the
king’s response.

Daniel and his 3 Jewish companions found them-

selves bundled together with the wise men of Baby-
lon. Without the interpretation, they were going to
be killed. That’s when they sought God by prayer
for the secret.

Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision.

So Daniel blessed the God of heaven. Daniel answered
and said:

98 Daniel 2:17-18
94
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom
and might are His. And He changes the times and
the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He
gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who
have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with
Him.

“I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You

have given me wisdom and might, and have now made
known to me what we asked of You, for You have
made known to us the king’s demand.” 99

Without the knowledge of the king’s secret, Daniel

and company would have perished. They asked
God for that secret to be revealed, and He answered
them. I believe that we too may perish if we don’t
understand the seasons and times we live in. As
Daniel indicated when he was giving thanks to God,
He changes the times and seasons. Here’s an
example of some of the painful consequences of not
having understanding of the times and seasons:

He who gathers in summer is a wise son; he who sleeps

in harvest is a son who causes shame.100

99 Daniel 2:19-23
100 Proverbs 10:5
95
He who gathers a harvest in the season for harvesting
is wise. It doesn’t matter whether that person is a
son or a servant. He’ll be either a wise son or a wise
servant.
But it’s a bad thing for a son to sleep in har-
vest—in other words, to miss the meaning of a
season—because he’ll end up being ruled by a wise
servant and sharing his inheritance with him:

A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame,

and will share an inheritance among the brothers.101

We Are in a Famine
A few days ago, on the night of 14 December
2022, I preached at the 13th anniversary conference
at Rescue Fire Ministries For Nations, under the
supervision of Apostle Shield Mosia. The theme
for the conference was dubbed “Understanding the
Times and Seasons in Our Times.” What follows are
the highlights of the message I preached…

As an introduction, I indicated how I notice things in

the Scriptures, which other people tend to overlook.
For example, I referenced the story of the prodigal

101 Proverbs 17:2

96
son, and how other people usually just see a father’s
forgiveness. I see an economic lesson.

But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine

in that land, and he began to be in want.102

How much he spent was something that he could

have controlled. The famine, on the other hand,
was beyond his control. So the lesson is that
to avoid being in want, we shouldn’t spend all
that we have—it’s something we should be able
to control—so that when what we can’t control
(like Covid-19 lockdowns) suddenly comes we’ll be
secure. That’s what Joseph advised Pharaoh to do,
not only to survive but thrive during the famine in
Egypt:

Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over

the land, to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of
Egypt in the seven plentiful years… Then that food shall
be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine
which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may
not perish during the famine.” 103

Joseph’s understanding of the season, and what to

102 Luke 15:14

103 Genesis 41:34, 36
97
do in it, would later save the land from perishing.

Next, still in a way of introduction, I highlighted the

skill we’d need in this season we’re in: the ability
to think and figure out things for ourselves. I
referenced the parable of the talents…

For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far

country, who called his own servants and delivered his
goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another
two, and to another one, to each according to his own
ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then
he who had received the five talents went and traded
with them, and made another five talents. And likewise
he who had received two gained two more also.104

How did the first two servants know that they had
to trade with their master’s money? Who told them?
They figured it out themselves. That’s the skill
we’re going to need so much in this season, in which
we have been given…

104 Matthew 25:14-17

98
The Permission To Continue Building

So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of

Elul, in fifty-two days. And it happened, when all
our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us
saw these things, that they were very disheartened in
their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was
done by our God.105

Nehemiah had started a project to rebuild the defen-

sive wall around the city of Jerusalem. There were
people from the surrounding nations who didn’t like
it, and who went as far as opposing it. But Nehemiah
and those with him kept on building, even when each
of them had to do it while holding a weapon with
the other hand.

The finishing of the wall in just 52 days was such a

huge success that those who had opposed it realized
that it could only have been done with God’s help.
No one had to tell them. They noticed it on their
own. They perceived: meaning, they noticed
without being told that God had been involved. The
big miracle was the speed with which this project
was completed in spite of all the opposition against
it.

105 Nehemiah 6:15-16

99
The Basis For Nehemiah’s Confidence

Nehemiah worked in the palace for the king. He had

a good job. So his life was comfortable. But when he
asked the people who had come to visit him from his
hometown how life was back at home, they gave him
some bad news. The walls of Jerusalem (which were
supposed to defend the city) were broken down, and
everybody was struggling.

So he started off by fasting and praying about the

situation in Jerusalem. In his praying, we don’t see
God saying anywhere that He had heard Nehemiah’s
prayers. Nehemiah had to figure it out by himself
that he had been heard, and that God was helping
him and his team… that God had given them THE
PERMISSION TO CONTINUE BUILDING.

The word pray appears about 10 times in the book

of Nehemiah. But the number of times God an-
swered or said anything at all to Nehemiah was zero!
Nehemiah was always guided by his perception:
noticing without being told that God must be help-
ing them.

What was the basis for Nehemiah’s confidence

in figuring out that God was helping them? It is
something called covenant. For example, David
100
perceived (knew without being told) that he had
been given the permission to topple the giant, Go-
liath, because of God’s covenant with His people.

God’s covenant makes Him say to us, “I am ALWAYS

with you.” It is what gives us the confidence to
continue building whatever pleases Him. And our
prosperity pleases Him (Psalms 35:27; I John 5:14).
In fact, He gives us power (or anointing) to continue
building our prosperity in order to establish His
covenant (Deuteronomy 8:18). We should build
until we get here…

So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to

be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, “Let neither
man nor woman do any more work for the offering of
the sanctuary.” And the people were restrained from
bringing, for the material they had was sufficient for all
the work to be done—indeed too much.106

Have you heard of a modern day church where the

pastor had to restrain the people from bringing in
offerings, saying, “Hey, people! We have received
enough”? If not, it means we haven’t built our
prosperity enough. So let’s continue building.

106 Exodus 36:6-7

101
Remember that Nehemiah had a good job. But
some bad news shook him out of his comfort zone.
We also have some bad news: the economy is bad.
The prices of goods have shot up. Our money no
longer buys as much as it used to. In some families
quarreling about money is so common… We are in
a famine, otherwise called inflation.

That is the bad news that should cause us to

continue building our prosperity which we’ve
neglected for a long time (just like the walls of
Jerusalem had been neglected). It’s what the
occasion demands us to do at this time.

How Isaac Prospered in a Famine

There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine

that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to
Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar. Then the
Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to
Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.” 107

Isaac was asking himself, “Should I go down to

Egypt? Will life be better there?” God spoke to him,
“You’re okay right here. I’m going to bless you.”

107 Genesis 26:1-2

102
But after he had stayed there for a long time (verse
8), there was still no evidence of God’s blessing. He
was waiting for God to bless him, but God was
waiting for him to use his thinking ability…

Then [ finally] Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped

in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed
him. The man began to prosper, and continued
prospering until he became very prosperous; for he
had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and
a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied
him.108

Who told Isaac to sow seed? He had to figure it

out himself. That’s what God had been waiting for,
for a long time. (Could you also be delaying your
prosperity by neglecting your thinking ability?) One
thing I know though, is that you can’t think quality
thoughts or ideas if you’re always feeding your mind
with television and social media. Read books which
will equip you.

108 Genesis 26:12-14

103
3 Things We Can Copy From Isaac

1. God blessed him when he used his thinking

ability and acted.
2. He started a business. How else could he reap
a harvest of crops, but end up having many
animals? We can figure out that he sold his
crops and bought animals.
3. He even had people (called servants/em-
ployees) working for him. No one person
will become very prosperous without the help
of other people.

3 Main Challenges To Starting a Business

1. Selling itself: I don’t know how to sell (or I

don’t want to sell or I’m too afraid to sell to
people).
2. What to sell: What can I sell? (I have no
business idea).
3. I have an idea, but where can I get the money
to start a business?

104
Isaac’s Answer To All 3 Challenges

1. Make selling easy: Show or give people what

they are already searching for. For example, if
you have food, what you need to find is a group
of hungry people with money; and selling
won’t be hard for you.
2. Identify what people are hungry for, and
give it to them. Example: a) In 2020 I realized
that people were hungry for motivation. I
gave it to them in the form of books. That’s
how I survived the long unemployment. b) I
also provided online maths and science classes
because schools were closed.
3. Isaac sowed seed. Start with the little you
already have. IT’LL GROW because of God’s
blessing. Example: a) Because someone over-
seas saw me advertising my online classes, he
asked me to teach Sesotho to his children. He’s
been paying me so well that I’ve employed a
Sesotho teacher to do the work for me. b)
Secondly, I was a speaker at that conference
because I started writing books. The people
who invited me there knew me only through
my books.

105
Summary

Unless we understand the seasons of our lives,

we’ll find ourselves not knowing the right things
to do. As a result, we’ll be ruled or controlled by
circumstances we should be controlling.

We’re living in a famine, otherwise called inflation,

because our money no longer buys the things it
could. The skill we’ll need at this time is figuring
things out for ourselves. We need to be able to use
our thinking ability to put God’s power to use, just
like Nehemiah, David and Isaac.

Many Christians are very good at asking, but they

neglect to think. (Recall from chapter 2 that think-
ing in silence before God is one of the types of
prayer.)

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly

above all that we ask or THINK, according to the power
that works in us,109

Isaac had to think for himself that the time had come
for him to start a business. And God blessed him…
so that he continued to prosper until he had become

109 Ephesians 3:20

106
very prosperous.

AND IT ENDS IN THE

GREATEST VICTORY

A nd they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb

and by the word of their testimony, and they did
not love their lives to the death.110

Who had been overcome? And what was the nature

of his defeat?

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old,

called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world;
he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with
him.111

110 Revelation 12:11

111 Revelation 12:9
108
It was the serpent of old who deceived Eve, and
introduced iniquity into the world. He was defeated
by being cast out of a place he had legally occupied
for some time. So his legal right to occupy that place
had come to an end. How had he gained the legal
right to be in heaven, from which he was eventually
cast out?
We should find the answer hidden in the book of
Job.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to

present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came
among them. And the Lord said to Satan, “From where
do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said,
“From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking
back and forth on it.” 112

What was Satan doing among the sons of God? And

how had he got the right to roam the earth? I believe
he had taken Adam’s place as a son of God, because
Adam was a son of God according to Luke 3:38, but
by sinning he became a slave of Satan:

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned

from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God
was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the

112 Job 1:6-7

109
devil.113

So when Adam started being of the devil, the devil

could possess all that he owned… including the right
to stand before the Lord and to rule the whole earth.
Isn’t this what he told Jesus?

Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain,

showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a
moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this
authority I will give You, and their glory; for this
has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I
wish.” 114

The Second Time, Satan Was Cast Out

The authority over all the kingdoms of the world

had been given to Adam in the beginning… when
God blessed them and said, “Let them fill the earth,
and subdue it; and have dominion.” Satan could only
have got it from him. That’s why even Jesus didn’t
try to refute the devil’s claim that the authority had
been delivered to him.

113 I John 3:8

114 Luke 4:5-6
110
Now we understand that Satan had got his right to be
in heaven by owning the owner of that right: Adam
himself. And he happened to own him because of
Adam’s sin, right? So when Jesus came, and shed His
blood for sin, Satan’s right to be in Adam’s place
vanished.

Witnesses were required to make a solid case before

God as the Judge. The first witness was the blood
of the Lamb of God. It spoke because it has a voice.
Hebrews 12:24 says this blood speaks better things
than the blood of Abel. But the devil raised his own
counter argument, probably saying, “This right was
given to me by a man of this world. Is there such a
man to take it away from me?”

So we the members of the human race who have

been washed in the blood of the Lamb rose up, and
lent our voice to the greatest legal battle of the ages.
And we said, “We were once sinners and servants to
the devil. But now we’ve been washed in the blood
of the Lamb. Satan’s legal right to take our place is
no more.”

Yet again the devil had one more defense of his

case. “What’s the use because they’ll live for self-
glorification, just like me? They’ll always choose
the easy way out, just like me. So basically they’ll
111
still worship me.” And we responded, “Haven’t you
noticed, Satan? We’ve suffered with Christ, in the
likeness of His death… Some of us have endured
every form of hardship thrown at us all these years,
and we’ve shown longsuffering and patience and joy,
by giving thanks to the Father nonstop.”

With that, Satan’s arguments were gone. He was

overcome, and Michael and the angels cast Satan
out of Adam’s place in heaven. That was actually the
second time that Satan was hurled out of heaven.
When was the first time?

The First Time, Satan Was Hurled Down

The first ever mention of the serpent of old is in the

garden of Eden to deceive Eve. How had he gotten
there? Ezekiel 28:12 addresses someone called the
king of Tyre, and then continues…

You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious

stone was your covering: the sardius, topaz, and dia-
mond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and
emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels
and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were
created.

112
You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established
you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked
back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were
perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till
iniquity was found in you.115

This is someone whose beginning was glorious,

who was once an anointed cherub. Obviously, this
isn’t referring to a human being, but to an angel.
Cherubim (singular cherub) are angels who live in
God’s presence. But this particular one was fond
of walking back and forth. (Doesn’t that remind
us of someone from the book of Job?) And at some
point iniquity was found in him.
So what happened?

How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the

morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who
weakened the nations!116

Didn’t even Jesus say this?

And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning
from heaven.” 117

115 Ezekiel 28:13-15

116 Isaiah 14:12

117 Luke 10:18
113
“Like lightning” means exactly that: a flash of light
falling swiftly from the sky. So when he was hurled
out of heaven the first time Satan was still “the
shining one” which is the meaning of “Lucifer”. That
was before he became a dragon. This first time he
was hurled down for his own iniquity which was
found in him. There was no legal battle involved…
but mighty force. One moment he was there; the
next moment he was gone… like lightning.

The Mind That Can Propel Us Higher

Satan was brought down by his self-serving inter-

est. That was the iniquity that was found in him:

For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into

heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the
farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights
of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ 118

Our willingness to suffer in the likeness of Christ’s

death counteracts Satan’s method of doing things.
We’re showing as a testimony that truly we’re not
his by being different from him. That’s what Jesus

118 Isaiah 14:13-14

114
Himself had to prove… first during His temptation
by the devil, and then by going to the cross. By the
cross He was shouting, “I’m unlike you, Satan!”

I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of

this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.119

When Jesus didn’t exalt Himself (as Satan would have

done), the Father exalted Him. Unlike Satan who
fell from heaven like lightning, Jesus shot up in the
greatest promotion of all, being made to be equal
with God as a Man, and to be above every name or
title.

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery
to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation,
taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the
likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a
man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the
point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore
God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the
name which is above every name,120

When we have a mind like His, we’re also to be

119 John 14:30

120 Philippians 2:5-9
115
catapulted up, to a position that’s a little lower than
God. However, the way up is down, forgetting about
self-glorification, but waiting for God’s timing.
What’s written about Joseph nicely summarizes
our own journey upwards:

Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of
the Lord tested him. The king sent and released him, the
ruler of the people let him go free. He made him lord
of his house, and ruler of all his possessions, to bind his
princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom.121

“Until the time” implies he had to be patient for God’s

time, with joy giving thanks to the Father, even when
the things the word of the Lord had promised him
didn’t seem to go his way. This is being strengthened
with patience for the greatest anointing that renders
even Lucifer himself bound, and the spoils of his
house our possession (Colossians 1:11-12; Luke
11:20-22).

This prophecy was given on 13 September 2001, and

sums up this victory over Lucifer himself:

Be patient, be patient, be patient; when the time comes

you’ll move with the greatest anointing.

121 Psalms 105:19-22

116
Amen, so be it to me.
