Instructions:

Answer the following items in no more than 10 sentences: (2 items x 10 points)

1. Write a short essay explaining the difference between quality and total quality approach?

Quality is an attribute or characteristic of a product or process, whereas the Total Quality Approach
(TQM) is a management philosophy and approach that seeks to achieve and sustain high-quality
standards throughout an organization by involving all of its members in a continuous improvement
process. The pursuit of quality in all facets of an organization's activities is encompassed by the broader
and more thorough notion of total quality management (TQM).

2. Pick one (1) quality guru and describe his contribution in achieving total quality in the work
place?

One well-known expert on quality is W. Deming, Edwards. Total quality management (TQM) was
significantly influenced by Deming's ideology and ideas. In order to achieve quality excellence, he made
a significant contribution by highlighting the value of statistical process control, ongoing improvement,
and staff involvement.

Deming felt that rather than depending solely on inspection to find flaws, quality should be ingrained
into a good or service from the very beginning. The Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle, which encourages
iterative problem-solving and continual development, was a concept he introduced. Deming also
highlighted the need of comprehending and controlling process variation.
