A: Vocabulary LIST

o a walrus =a large sea animal with two long TUSKs (=things like teeth)
coming down from the sides of its mouth [↪ seal]
o a harpoon = a weapon used for hunting whales
o unseasonably (adv) warm/cold/hot = used for saying that the weather
is warmer, colder than usual at a particular time of year
o choppy (adj) = choppy water has a lot of waves and is not smooth to sail
on
o a sibling =a brother or sister; sibling rivalry (=competition between
brothers and sisters for their parents' attention or love
o subsistence (unc.n.) = the condition of only just having enough money
or food to stay alive; to subsist on = survive
o stifling (adj)= a situation that is stifling stops you from developing your
own ideas and character
o profound (adj) = deep
o relevance (n) = closely connected with the subject you’re discussing or
the situation you’re thinking about; relevant (adj) ≠ irrelevant
o grasp of = an understanding of
o sewing (unc. n.) = the activity or skill of making or repairing clothes or
decorating cloth with a needle and thread
o harsh (adj) = cruel, severe and unkind
o a meadow = a field with wild grass and flowers
o tundra = the large flat Arctic regions of northern Europe, Asia and North
America where no trees grow and where the soil below the surface of the
ground is always frozen
o an ice floe = a large area of ice floating in the sea
o heritage (singular; uncountable) = the traditional beliefs, values,
customs of a family, country, or society (=baština)
o a distinction = a clear difference or separation between two similar
things
o to impose = to force somebody to accept sth (= nametnuti)
