Thoughts on the Life of Jesus:

Missionaries pt. 3: What To

Expect: Matt. 10:16-26
Jesus told the disciples that they would face persecutions from the people. They needed to be
wise yet harmless and innocent so they could be justly convicted of nothing. They were going
to be brought before kings and governors for His sake. Now let’s break down this concept of
“for His sake”. I believe, according to what the Holy Spirit has revealed to me, that this
statement has a double meaning. First, it means that if we are really following God, we will
su er for Him because the world is not in tune with what God asks of His followers. His ways
are not theirs, and it will cause con icts. Second, it can mean that the governors and kings will
think that they’re doing something right for God’s sake by trying them and nding the
missionaries of truth guilty. Moving on, Jesus began to explain what types of betrayal would
occur because of the acceptance of truth. Family members would turn against each other and
deliver them unto death. All because one chooses to follow Jesus wholly and CORRECTLY.
When the disciples were persecuted in one city, they were to ee to another one, and they
were promised to have not run out of cities to go to before Jesus came. That applies to our
lives today as well. We’re promised here that in the last days, we won’t be trapped in a corner.
We will still be able to ee and Jesus will come back before we’re locked into a corner. But
once again, as a follower of Jesus, Who was called a worker of Satan, we will be branded as a
worker of the same branch and persecuted. Some people will genuinely be deceived, and
some people will just be so depraved that it just makes sense to them. Jesus promises,
however, that the secrets of evil, evil that seems to be gotten away with be revealed. Now it’s
up to us to trust in God’s word and follow Him wholeheartedly, no matter what the world may
do.
