Hi! My name’s Kerry. I’m a teacher in a secondary school in France and I teach teenagers. And after school on
Wednesdays, I run a club for students who want to learn extra English. T he students who come are 12 to 15 years old
and they do it because they want to take exams or so they can use English on holidays.
I love my job, but it isn’t easy! My students have a long day at school too and I teach them after that. T here are 15
students in my club. We start at 4.30 and finish at 6.30 when we all leave for home! We have a break at about 5.30 and
then we have a drink and something to eat, but we always speak English.
I don’t teach much grammar, but they learn a lot of new words in English. I ask questions and they answer. T hey speak
in English all the time in the club and they do some homework for the next time. T hey usually do exercises and
sometimes they read books or we go out to a museum or even the shopping centre. T hey like watching English films
and listening to English music. I really like my students! We talk about T V, sports and other things they do in their free
time. My job is really interesting. T hey speak good English now, too.
Do you want to start an English club at your school, too? It’s great fun!

T he Little Olympic Club
T he Little Olympic Club is a sports club with a difference. We are all good athletes and we want to be winners in the
Olympic Games. We are all between 6 and 11 years old and we live in areas of our town where there are no sports
centres or clubs.
Our parents don’t have a lot of money to spend on sports lessons, so we come here. T here are 30 of us in the club and
we do cycling, running, gymnastics and some ball games. We work very hard, but we can’t practise very often. We
don’t have courts or a swimming pool and all our equipment is very old. We usually practise in a big room in a school
near here or in the park. T he school doesn’t ask for money. Our club is very popular. And we are getting bigger and
better!
But we have a problem. Can you help us? We need more equipment – bikes, bats, balls, nets and rackets. We need
money to pay for time in the swimming pool or on the tennis courts or at the sports centre. And we need money to
travel to competitions. We need more trainers, too. John organises the club and Jane and Fisher do the training, but
they need help.
We know we can be winners. Please help us! Can you give us some money or equipment? You don’t have to give much.
Or you can give us some of your time. You can be a trainer or come and help. Contact us at littleolympicclub.com and
help the athletes of the future.
