Answer ALL questions
3. (a) A body dipped into a liquid experience an upthrust.
State two factors on whichupthrust on the body depends

(b) A ship is normally with a large hollow space. This means that the
ship has a large volume which allows it to displace a large volume of
water, resulting into large upthrust equaling the weight of the ship. If
the hollow space is filled with air what would happen
(c) Calculate the density of body, if a floating body is 95%
submerged in water. The densityof water is 1000kg/𝑚3

4. Salome is a standard seven (7) pupil at Ushindi primary school,

she heard some terminologies from her sister Zukharia who is a form
one student at Juhudi Jeshini Secondaryschool. Assume you are
Zukhaira and give the usual meaning of the following terminologies
[Tensional force, Bouyant force, Viscous force, Normal force,
Tensional force]

(iii) Force and distance acts perpendicular to each other
(iv) Razor blade floating in fresh water and sink in soapy water.
(v) Beans appear to swell up when soaked in water for over night

7(a) Is necessary to construct a house with a wide foundation? Why?

b) Explain three characteristics of pressure in liquids
c) A cube of sides 2cm is completely submerged in water so that
the bottom of the cube isat a depth of 10cm. If density of water (𝜌)
is 1027𝑘𝑔⁄𝑚3; g = 10𝑁⁄𝑘𝑔:
