Though Tam thinking to follow the procedure given in fist post and co nat plan to use these cleaners. anuras, Inspired by ths thread by Ajmat Sit, 1 too did make time to do the DIY for my Swift ZDI: DIY - MAF Sensor Cleaning tp: (/wew,team-bho.com/foruin/techol.mlspast2047541 1@(1) Thanks NOTE: Though there was nothing wrong with my car for me to perform this DIY. It was just to see how Is the Condition ofthe sensor after 1.2 years ang 38K kms on the odometer. No low performance or smoke or law FE belng ‘experienced, ‘Things required to perform the DIV (Picture below): PA aor Zip Lock bags - 3 no's Flat heac No.: 7mm Prilips Head No.2 Flank Socket: 10mm Extension Bar Ratchet Handle 1008 (preferably as I ries up faster) 1 tre is enough IM. Procedure to perform the Cleaning ofthe MAF is as follows in 3 broad steps: 1. Removing MAF for leaning, 2 Cleaning the MAF. 1) Removing the MAF for Cleaning: + Clean the area around the ar filter box, MAF and the Alr intake pipe (rubber hose); + Remove the electric coupler; + Using the Philips nead 2, open the screws halding the air ker box; * Once the air fiter box is opened, use the flat head screw-7mm to loosen the clamp; + With the clamp now loose, Detach the rubber ar intake pipe; 1 Using the Flank socket 20mm, unserew the two bolts holding the MAF sensor: MAF is now free and ready for cleaning. 2) Cleaning the MAF: + Once the MAF is removed, fist thing to dois - wipe it gently with @ damp cloth to remove the dir/dust before cleaning it with IPA. + Put the MAF in the Zip-lock pouch, pour inthe TPA, + Lock the pouch and shake it gertly to loosen the cir trapped by the mesh; 1 Let ttrest for 10-15 mins. Remove the sensor from the poucn and collect the IPA used first time, add some fresh IPA and let tsi for 2-3 minutes: + Remove the sensor from the IPA bath anc let it dry completely, Nore: ‘+ Do NOT keep the Ignition in ON pasition or the carling when removing the MAF. Just remave the key from the key hole. + Be'cavelUl as to NOT put the MAF back after removing it from the IPA bath. ~- Was actually scouting for CRC Alr Senso clean spray that Is made for leaning the MAF sensor. Nalther I could get it ‘online nor the shops so used with 100% IPA Did check the ECU for any error codes or any such indication but good that nothing came up. Now I'l le the pictures do the talking: Ar filter box + MAF Sensor: MAF chilling out in 1PA bath: MAF's First bath: e Bs fetnary Le ee “I had 1.5 Itres actualy of 100% IPA so used S00 ml for every wash. Collected the same after using It to see how much dirt/austs entrapped. PS: Engine bay is dirty actually thanks to the route I take which makes the car look eirty within ne time after @ wash, Teck alot of efor to wipe that out today during the MAF sensor drying time. ete: Originally Posted by mohanai © Hi Anurag, ‘Are you going to clean it yourself? The method differs only in the aleahol dip rest all are seme as the above. Instead of putting the MAF sensor assembly into the ziplock and filing it with IPA I prefer to do the folowing: Iacono 3 clean the outside of the MAF tube very well with damp cloth so thatthe dirt on the outsi¢e doesn't dirty the Ta, 2. Take out the rubber O-ring from the air iter side of the MAF tube and clean it with damp cloth. Do nat ap It in PA, 3. Then I use one ofthese translucent white caps shown below to cover one end of the MAF Lube and then put the {ube into the ziplock Bag and then half fil the inside ofthe MAF tube with IPA and then put the other cover on, 4. Clase the bag and shake it well holcing the sensor by capped ends; and repeat this ore more time (or twice IF the TPA lsat clear the second time). 5. Allow for one right to let the IPR evaporate completely from the surface ofthe sensor film completely before putting the sensor back an, Just fo prevent the chance of accdentaly heating a Wet sensor element If you turn the key to ON after installation ‘The reason I prefer this method is because the IPAs contained inside the MAF tube and when shaking I the fluid has ‘a better chance of going over the actuel sensor film with more force and flow. Note: The caps are not airtight soit tends to leak some, but it will allow the time for enough vigorous shakes before ieall leaks out Into the ziplock bag. 1 don’t have the actual pics of cleaning, I have two MAF sensors with me so used the spare to clic the photos. roe e 15(11) Thanks: a mandyrana ie: DIY: Cleaning your MAF Sensor for Re 120 BrP Has anyone cleanes MAF for Tata Safal Dicor?
