I. SUMMARY

The free online course on Alison is about empowering young people through community service
and social care and it is designed with several key objectives within each module and course assessment.
Firstly, it aims to guide individuals in understanding the transformative journey of the ‘youth phase’ and
equipping them with the knowledge and motivation needed to lead fulfilling lives that will contribute
positively to each of their communities. The course also recognizes the challenges posed by modern
ways of living and the internet technologies and addresses the pressing needs and aspiration of today’s
youth. Specifically, the objectives include introducing participants to youth work and exploring group
dynamics, addressing mental health issues common among youth, discussing the responsibilities of
youth leaders, and focusing on topics such as safeguarding, internet safety, and effective communication
skills. Ultimately, the course prepares both young people and adults to empower the youth, enabling
them to make a meaningful impact on their communities.

As a Psychology student, this course holds a great relevance for several reasons. Namely, it
aligns with the understanding of group dynamics, fundamental concept in psychology, by delving into
youth and group work. The exploration of mental health issues among the youth provides a valuable
insight into the psychological well-being of this demographic, a topic of significant interest in the field
of psychology. Additionally, the course touches upon communication skills, an essential aspect in
psychology and everyday life because as effective communication plays a crucial role in addressing and
supporting mental health concerns. The concepts learning also in this course contribute to a holistic
understanding of youth empowerment, combining psychology principles with practical skills to guide
young people towards better decisions and positive contributions to society.

Throughout the online course, concepts have been learned, including the dynamics of youth
work, strategies for handling common mental health issues in youth, the responsibilities of youth
leaders, and importance of safeguarding and internet safety. Moreover, the course emphasizes the

II. REFLECTION

The course has illuminated how group dynamics can enhance or impede the effectiveness of
youth empowerment initiatives, emphasizing the significance of leadership, communication, and
cohesion within a group setting.

The insights gained from the online course are highly applicapble for her life, especially as a
Psychology student. As said before, the understanding of Group Dynamics is not only relevant in the
context of youth empowerment but akso extends to various intrapersonal and professional settings. It has
equipped her withvalubale knoeldge about effective communication, an essential skill in both personal
and professional relationships. Applying the principles of the subject, Group Dynamics in everyday life
recognizing the diverse perspectives within a group, fostering open collaboraio, and facitlitang
collaboration to achieve common goals. As a Osychology student, she can incorporate this knowledge
into group projects, discussions, and interactions with peers, enhancing her ability to work
collaboratively and contribute meaningfully to shared objectives and goals.

Furthermore, the course has underscored the importance of proactively engaging with the
changing landscape of the world. The acknowledgment of new and modern ways of living, coupled with
the impact of the internet, signifies the need for constant adaptation and innovation in youth
empowerment strategies. This realization emphasizes the dynamic nature of empowering young people

In conclusion, the online course has not only deepened my understanding of group dynamics and
