The selling price for the regression equation is.

Selling Price = -29470.272+78.429*Size+7170.236*Number Rooms-5663.389*-236.289*Age

From the coefficient table the attached garage is -5663.389 it means that the presence of garage
reduces the selling price by 5663.389$ and the size, age and number of rooms of the house is
constant.

b.

We can say from model summary that the R2 value is 0.893 that is close to 1 so the regression
line is good fit for data.
c.

Given data the Size of the house is = 3000 square foot, Age = 20 years, Rooms = 7 and Garage is
not attached.
Selling Price = -29470.272+ [78.429*3000] + [7170.236*7] – [236.289*20] – [5663.389*0]
= -29470.272 + 235287 +50191.652-4725.78-0
= 251282.6
The selling price for the given data is 251286.6 $
R2 value is 0.893 so the obtained selling price value is 89.3%.

a.

The multiple linear regression equation for the table for Worker hours is

Worker hours = -339.178+ [0.009*Boiler Capacity] + [1.926*Design Pressure]-[3444.255*Boiler Type_1]

+ [2093.354*Drum Type_1]

b.
from the regression coefficients table, we can see that when the boiler type, drum type and
design pressure are constants for 1 unit of boiler capacity the worker hours will be increased by
0.09 hours.
The worker hours will increase by 1.926 hours for 1 the unit of design pressure, when the boiler
type, boiler capacity and drum type are constant.
When the boiler capacity, drum type and design pressure variables are constant, then the boiler
type is utility the work hours will be decreased by 3444.255.
When the parameters boiler capacity, design pressure and boiler type are constant, the steam
drum type worker hours will increase at 2093.354 hours.

c.
The difference between the mean number of worker-hours required for erecting industrial and
utility field boilers is the coefficient of boiler type in the regression equation which is 3444.255.

d.
The difference between the mean number of worker-hours required for erecting boilers with
steam drums and with mud drums is the coefficient of drum type in the regression equation is
2093.354.
e.
In question they gave Boiler capacity = 550000, Design Pressure = 1400, Boiler type is utility so
Boiler type_1 =1, Drum type is steam so Drum type_1 = 1
change above values in regression equation.
Worker hours = -339.178+ (0.009*550000) + (1.926*1400) - (3444.255*1) + (2093.354*1)
=-339.178+4950+2696.4-3444.255+2093.354
=5956.321

we have R2 value is 0.903 so the obtained value is 90.3% accurate.

f.
In question they gave the values for Boiler capacity = 100000, Design Pressure = 1000, Boiler
type is industrial so Boiler type_1 =0, Drum type is mud so Drum type_1 = 0
Worker hours = -339.178+ (0.009*100000) + (1.926*1000) - (3444.255*0) + (2093.354*0)
=-339.178+900+1926-0-0
=2486.822

In model summary the R2 value is 0.903 so the obtained value is 90.3% accurate.

a.

From the table we have the appropriate multiple linear regression equation to find the cost of
shipment.

Cost of Shipment = 8.700-(5.440*Durable_ Cargo Type) + (4.300*Fragile_ Cargo Type)+ (0* Semi
Fragile_ Cargo Type)

b.
We can say from the regression equation,
The cost of shipment will decrease by 5.400$ for 1 unit of durable cargo type, while the
Fragile_Cargo type and semi fragile cargo types are absent.
The cost of shipment will increase by 4.300$ for 1 unit of fragile cargo type, while the Durable_
Cargo type and Semi Fragile cargo types are absent.
The coefficient of semi fragile cargo type is 0 which says that when durable cargo type and
fragile cargo types are constant then cost of shipment does not depend on the semi fragile cargo
type.
The intercept of the obtained regression equation is 8.700 and the slope of durable_ cargo type is
5.440 and fragile cargo type is 4.300.
Which tells that the sample for Durable cargo type is 5.400 and for fragile cargo type it is 4.300.

c.
From the regression we can say that the mean of Durable cargo type is 5.400 but the shipping
cost is decreasing for durable cargo types where for fragile mean is 4.300 and the cost is
increasing.
we can say that the fragile cargo type is expensive, and the Durable cargo type is the cheap.
d.

The R2 value is 0.774 it says that the equation obtained is not an appropriate for the given
data.We obtain the goodness of fit we need to include the interaction variables.
The interaction variables can be obtained by getting the relation between Durable-fragile cargo
types, Fragile-semi cargo types, and durable-semi fragile cargo types and also by getting the
relation between all the three cargo types.
e.
Given Cargo type of semi fragile,Shipment cost is calculated below
Cost of shipping = 8.700 –(5.440*0)+(4.300*0)+(0*1)
=8.700
Therefore cost of shipping semi fragile cargo type is 8.700$

From the scatter plot we can say the parabolic relationship between peak load and daily high
temperature.
b.

The regression equation obtained is.

Peak loaded = -47.394 + 1.976 * daily high temperature
c.

The minimum and maximum residual values are -17.4819 and 23.2360.
R2 value is 0.843 which is near to 1. Here we can say that the obtained equation is a very good fit
for the given data.

d.
The given high temperature = 100 degress
The regression equation as
Peak load = -47.394 + 1.976*Daily High Temperature.
Peak load power = - 47.394 + (1.976*100)
=-47.394+197.6
=150.203
So the peak load for 100 degrees daily temperature is 150.203.
