Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, (born
April 15, 1990, Paris, France), British
actress and activist who was perhaps
best known for playing the young wizard
Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter
films. She also garnered attention as a
spokesperson for women’s equality.

British actor Emma Watson was appointed UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in July 2014. The accomplished actor,
humanitarian and recent graduate of Brown University will dedicate her efforts towards the empowerment of young
women and will serve as an advocate for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign in promoting gender equality.
n Sep. 20, 2014, British actor and Goodwill Ambassador for U.N. Women Emma Watson gave a smart, important, and
moving speech about gender inequality and how to fight it. In doing so, she launched the HeForShe initiative, which
aims to get men and boys to join the feminist fight for gender equality.
