Narrative on the conduct of LAC session for the Month of October 2023
As per Approver School Learning Action Cell proposal that our first LAC session for the
school year 2023-2024 is on the fourth Friday of October 2023 with the following topics:
1.Promoting Understanding on Gender and Development
Gender Stereotyping:
After understanding the core concept of GAD, the session delved into the topic of
gender stereotyping. The facilitator highlighted how society often assigns certain
roles, behaviors, and characteristics based on individuals' gender, leading to
biased expectations and limited opportunities. The participants actively shared
personal experiences and discussed the consequences of stereotyping, such as
reinforcing harmful gender norms and perpetuating inequality.
Gender Bias:
Next, the session explored the issue of gender bias and its impact on individuals'
lives. The facilitator encouraged participants to critically examine societal
structures and institutions where gender bias often manifests. Examples were
shared, including biased hiring practices, wage gaps, and unequal distribution of
household responsibilities. The participants engaged in group activities and
brainstormed strategies to challenge gender bias in their respective spaces.
Open Forum and Discussion:
Following the informative presentations, an open forum was held to encourage
participants to share their thoughts, experiences, and questions related to gender
and development. The facilitator facilitated a vibrant discussion where
participants expressed their willingness to support gender equality and dismantle
harmful stereotypes and biases. Valuable insights and solutions were shared,
emphasizing the need for continuous education, raising awareness, and
promoting inclusive practices.

The SLAC session on promoting understanding on Gender and Development

successfully achieved its objectives of providing a comprehensive understanding
of gender and development, challenging gender stereotyping, and addressing
gender bias. The participants left the session with a heightened awareness of the
importance of gender equality and a sense of responsibility to contribute to its
advancement.
Recommendations:
To further promote understanding on gender and development, it is recommended
to:
1. Conduct follow-up sessions to delve deeper into specific areas of gender and
development.
2. Provide training and resources to help participants integrate gender-inclusive
practices in their personal and professional lives.
3. Collaborate with local organizations and institutions to organize community-
driven gender empowerment initiatives.
Overall, the SLAC session on Gender and Development served as a platform for
promoting awareness, dialogue, and action towards a more equitable and
inclusive society. The insights gained from the session will undoubtedly
contribute to the participants' personal growth and their ability to drive positive
change in their respective communities

societies. It focuses on understanding and addressing the disparities and inequalities that
exist between men, women, and different gender identities, with the aim of achieving
gender equality and empowering all individuals

6. GAD Values both gender same strength and weaknesses in speaking of human capability
except in physical capability

men in society.

women and men in society.
