Foreword
Dear Juniors,

I am delighted to have the opportunity to instruct you in this course, English as a Second
Language. It's important to note that English has evolved into a global language, and proficiency
in it is no longer merely a symbol of status; it is now an imperative skill. Regardless of the
language you are studying, it is essential to excel in both spoken and written English. To cater to
this need, I have diligently compiled a comprehensive resource in this book that encompasses the
four fundamental language skills required at this level: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Grammar is ‘salt' in any meal: too little is bad, and too much is worse. Therefore, all the
grammatical aspects addressed in this book are of utmost importance. Pronunciation guidance
will be provided during our lessons, and the reading passages included will also serve as
translation exercises. A book merely captures ideas on paper, while a language is a dynamic
entity continually evolving and adapting. Consequently, in addition to the book material, we will
engage with real-life situations in our lessons. Online resources such as tips, videos, and more
will be provided. Prepare to actively participate and practice English during our classes. Be ready
to get involved and practice English in class and always remember that mistakes are tolerable in
class but unforgivable in the market.

Sincerely,

Dr. Saudi Sadiq
