ENVIRONMENTAL NOTICE
Electrical/electronical devices and batteries/rechargeable batteries
Electrical and electronical devices as well as batteries or rechargeable batteries may not
be disposed of in household rubbish. As the end user, you are legally obliged to return
them. Used electrical and electronical devices as well as batteries or rechargeable batter-
ies should be returned free of charge after use to the vendor or to the designated places
for returning them (e.g. communal collection points or in shops). Proper disposal of the
devices will relieve the burden on the environment. For more detailed information please
contact your waste disposal center.
The planning of security systems as well as the installation, commissioning and maintenance of products
and the systems which they form required specialist expert knowledge, and therefore may only be under-
taken by specially trained experts according to the manufacturer’s specifications. The product-specific
training of staff members must be carried out by Schrack Seconet or by skilled staff who have been spe-
cifically authorised to carry out this duty by Schrack Seconet.
This document complies with Austrian regulations. Outside Austria, national regulations and manufacturer
information must be observed.
Schrack Seconet explicitly state, that security systems must be periodically maintained by certified and
qualified staff in accordance with the relevant standards (such as ÖNORM F 3070, DIN 14675, EN 16763),
in order to maintain the functional and protective scope in the long term. For servicing and maintenance
work on safety-related systems, the currently valid regulations of the country in which the system is being
operated shall apply.
In addition, the relevant country-specific regulations and guidelines for the planning, installation, service
and maintenance must be adhered to and complied with. Damage and consequential damage caused by
interventions or changes to products and their improper handling are excluded from liability. The same is
also true for inappropriate storage of items and other detrimental external factors.
If extinguishing systems or other critical fire incident control systems are automatically controlled via a fire
alarm control panel, then electrical, mechanical and optical measures must be taken when carrying out
servicing and maintenance work, to ensure that the outputs cannot be accidentally triggered. Once the
servicing or maintenance works have been finished, the security precautions must once again be re-
moved!
Please note the country-specific operator obligations on the duty to keep a log book. Where required, all
implemented operating processes must be recorded in the log book after completion.
The control panels of the Integral system family are operated via the Integral MAP control panel, which
can be installed internally in the control panel or used as a remote, external device.
The external operating and indicator panels are connected to the control panels via the system buses
MMI-bus and EPI-bus.

| MMI-bus
3.2.1 Overview
The MMI-bus is a serial data bus for connecting external indication and operating panels whose type des-
ignation has the suffix MMI. Up to 15 devices can be connected to each MMI-bus nd can be located up to
1,200 m away from a sub-control unit.
For safety reasons, both the data line and the power supply are redundant and must be laid separately.
Data communication takes place via redundant, digital communication links; the devices can be used in
any combination, independent of location.
The interface for connecting the devices to the MMI-bus is located for the Integral EvoxX M control panels
on the B8‑BAF module, while for the Integral EvoxX C control panels it is located on the B9‑BCU‑X2/X1F
master control unit.
Some MMI-bus devices offer an interface for an additional connection of EPI-bus devices.

3.3 EPI-bus
| EPI-bus
3.3.1 Overview
Up to three external devices whose type designation has the suffix EPI can be connected to the EPI-bus.
These are connected either to MMI-bus devices with additional EPI-bus, to Integral EvoxX M or Integral
EvoxX C operating panel MAP or directly to a Integral EvoxX B control panel.
EPI-bus devices can be installed a maximum of 1 metre away from the control panel or an MMI-bus
device.

The following table provides an overview which operating panel and its corresponding system bus is com-
patible to which module as well as from which software version the operating panel is supported:
NOTE
If high speed devices (B5/B8-MMI-xxx) and low speed devices (B3-MMI-xxx) are oper-
ated on the same MMI-bus, the low speed devices (B3-MMI-xxx) must have at least the
output state FGxxx F/00. Particular attention should be paid to this if, in the course of an
upgrade process, a new high speed device is connected to the MMI-bus, but the existing
low speed device do not yet have an output status FGxxx F/00 (or higher). This incompat-
ibility is basically independent of the used software release package.
The MMI-bus first version (version --/00) is no longer supported from IRP 7.x. Special at-
tention should be paid to this when upgrading a control panel with MMI-bus version --/
00 to IRP 7.x (or higher).

NOTE
The EPI-bus is supported from software version 7.2, therefore it is not recognised with
software version 6.3.x. It should also be noted that only MMI devices are considered
masters for EPI devices and not vice versa. Therefore, no MMI devices can be connected
to an EPI device.
4.1 Programming
| Programming
The programming and configuration of the devices can be found in the current software documentation.
Use the hexadecimal coding switch S1 to set the possible MMI-bus address (1 – 15). This must match the
setting in the Integral software.
Formula: High speed device + low speed device × 2 + EPI-bus device × 3 <= 16
This means that, for example, 15 high speed devices can be connected to an MMI-bus (more is physically
not possible), but the maximum number of low speed devices is limited to eight (and then no more high
speed devices are allowed).
The defined performance features must be taken into account (e.g. maximum 16 control panels per sub-
control unit, maximum three log printers, etc.). The maximum possible distance of the last MMI-bus
device results from the current consumption of the connected devices and the cable diameter of the
power supply.
NOTE
In new projects, it is not possible to exceed these system limits. For upgrading existing
projects, this system limit is only monitored during input. Existing projects can be up-
graded even if the system limits have already been exceeded. Adding further MMI-bus
devices is then not possible.
A sufficiently high inrush current must be available for the start-up of MMI-bus devices. Therefore, when
dimensioning the supply lines, not only the current consumption of the devices themselves must be taken
into account, but also the inrush current and the current required to activate the log printer. Since the cal-
culation of these factors is very complex and depends on the type, number, distance and sequence of the
devices on the MMI-bus, it is recommended to adhere to the following execution guidelines, within the
limits of which trouble-free operation of all MMI-bus devices is guaranteed. In general, however, a min-
imum cross-section of 0.5 mm² is recommended for MMI-bus devices and a minimum cross-section of
1.5 mm² for MMI-bus devices with integrated log printer.
MMI-bus devices are connected via an Integral EvoxX M/C control panel. Both the data line and the power
supply are redundant. The lines for the power supply are routed parallel to the data lines.
The power supply can be provided in the form of a bus from the control panel or with individual lines (par-
allel supply lines) from the control panel or via an external power supply. To comply with the normative re-
quirements, the MMI-bus devices must be installed in the immediate vicinity of the power supply.

The following distance table for a bus-type version of the power supply applies to a non-redundant power
supply or to a redundant power supply with wire break of a supply line.
CAUTION
Do not exceed recommended wiring length
To ensure compliance with the current consumption calculation, the recommended wir-
ing length mentioned in the table must not be exceeded.
4.4.4.2 Parallel power supply lines away from the control panel
From the power supply unit of the control panel, the power supply is parallel (star-shaped) to the indi-
vidual MMI-bus devices (connector X2).
The following figure shows a principle star-shaped power supply of MMI-bus devices, whereby the MMI-
bus must be terminated at the MMI-bus start (control panel) and at the last MMI-bus device.

With more than one MMI-bus device with log printer (i.e. devices with high current consumption), it is re-
commended to lay separate, parallel (star-shaped) power supply lines for these MMI-bus devices (with se-
lective, separate fuses) in order to be able to achieve the highest possible range for the conductor cross-
section used. Since the data line from the MMI-bus is always wired serially, a star-shaped power supply
has no influence on the maximum possible MMI-bus total length (max. 1200 m).

Power supply carried out from an external power supply unit is always necessary in the case MMI-bus
devices and the control panel are installed in different earthing areas.
The external power supply unit is locally earthed. The rechargeable battery capacity of the external power
supply unit ensures the energy consumption of the MMI-bus devices for the bypass time as well as
30 minutes alarm.
The output modules or master control unit of the Integral EvoxX control panels that have a connection op-
tion to the MMI-bus, as well as all MMI-bus devices, have two jumpers to be able to terminate the MMI-
bus. The MMI-bus may be operated at normal speed (38.4 kBit/s) without termination. Nevertheless, it is
recommended that the MMI-bus is terminated to avoid any problems that may occur. For MMI-bus
devices with a high data rate (96 kBit/s), it is essential to terminate the MMI-bus at the start of the bus
(output module, master control unit) and at the end of the bus (last device on the MMI-bus) with a parallel
resistor (121 Ω) integrated on the circuit board.

or master control units and the MMI-bus devices must not be plugged in.
CAUTION
Potential equalisation with earthing concept
The following chapter deals with the earthing concept for MMI-bus devices with metal
and plastic cases. It is strongly recommended to follow this concept as soon as an MMI-
bus installation extends over several buildings.
In this case, in any building without existing potential equalisation to the installation area
of the fire alarm control panel, the MMI-bus devices must be earthed locally and supplied
locally with external power supply unit according to EN 54-4. In any case, proof of poten-
tial equalisation must be provided by the responsible electrical installation company.

spectively)

J External power supply unit for the power supply of an MMI-bus device
M Jumper on MMI-bus device not plugged in: MMI-bus termination not completed
S Do not loop through the power supply and earth from earthing area 1 to earthing area 2
NOTE
In principle, earthing of an MMI-bus device is always permitted. This must be done in the
same potential area of the power supply of the MMI-bus device.
If all MMI-bus devices are in the same earthing area (in the same building) with the control panels and
less than 250 m away from the control panel and the power supply is carried out:
bus-shaped/serial OR star-shaped/parallel
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with metal case not necessary
(but allowed)
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with plastic case, locally via an earth connection set not necessary
(but allowed)
If MMI-bus devices are in the same earthing area (in the same building) with the control panels but more
than 250 m away from the control panel:
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with metal case locally at the next potential equalisa- recommended
tion point
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with plastic case locally at the next potential equalisa- recommended
tion point via an earth connection set
If the power supply is via an external power supply unit that is in the same potential range as the control
panel
Earthing of the external power supply unit mandatory
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with metal case locally at the next potential equalisa- recommended
tion point
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with plastic case locally at the next potential equalisa- recommended
tion point via an earth connection set
If the MMI-bus devices are not in the same potential equalisation area of the control panel:
Power supply via an external power supply unit mandatory
If the power supply is via an external power supply unit that is not in the same potential range as the con-
trol panel
Earthing of the external power supply unit mandatory
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with metal case locally at the next potential equalisa- mandatory
tion point
Earthing of MMI-bus devices with plastic case locally at the next potential equalisa- mandatory
tion point via an earth connection set
The earthing cable of the earth connection set must be connected to a metallised connection point of the
circuit board in the case of the MMI-bus device with the delivered fastening screw. The connection is car-
ried out as shown; the figure shows the MMI-bus device B5-MMI-PIP in the plastic case as an example.
At least one metallised connection point must be present on the circuit board.
The earth cable is attached to a metallised connection point with the enclosed screw.
NOTE
The earth connection set is only to be used for remote (external) devices on the MMI-bus
that are installed in a plastic case. It is not used for MMI-bus devices with metal cases. It
is not used for EPI-bus devices.
Every Integral product is supplied with several product labellings or type plates which are – depending on
the logistic and normative standards – already mounted on the product during manufacturing. The en-
closed type plate must be attached so that it is clearly visible from the outside (access level 1) before com-
missioning.

If the 64 possible LED outputs of a B3-MMI-UIO are not sufficient to activate a floor plan panel or parallel
indication panel, it is possible to activate such a panel with up to 13 B3-MMI-UIO modules. For this, the
modules must be on the same MMI-bus. To ensure that flashing LEDs activated by different B3-MMI-UIO
flash synchronously, the modules must be synchronised with each other using their own line.

The B3-MMI-UIO module that supplies the synchronisation signal must be configured as the master in the
fire alarm control panel. All other B3-MMI-UIO modules that receive the synchronisation signal must be
configured as slaves belonging to this master.
If an indication test button is implemented on the panel, then this button may only be located on the mas-
ter module. If this button is pressed, then the indication test is also carried out on the slave modules.
If the panel should feature an alarm acoustics and/or fault acoustics as well as the acoustics should be re-
set with a button, this may also be located on the master module.
Both test functions are selected by switch S1 (= setting the MMI-bus address) and then started by switch-
ing on the supply voltage:
To check the wiring of an input matrix, the state of the inputs is indicated. Regardless of the respective ex-
tension of the matrix (number of required rows), a complete matrix is always queried (8 matrix rows). If
there are outputs on matrix lines that are not needed, they must be removed during the test. The LED out-
puts LED0 – LED15 are used for indication. If an input is activated, its position within the matrix is indic-
ated by setting two LED outputs. The outputs LED0 – LED7 represent the columns, LED8 – LED15 the
rows. In this test, only one input may be activated at a time.
To check the wiring of LED panels, all 64 LED outputs are first activated for three seconds. After that,
each LED output, starting with LED0, is activated individually for one second. After activating the last LED
output with LED63, the test starts again by activating all 64 LED outputs.
6.1 Programming
| Programming
The programming and configuration of the devices can be found in the current software documentation.
Use the hexadecimal coding switch S1 to set the possible MMI-bus address (permitted: 1 – 3; not relev-
ant: 4 – 15). This must match the setting in the Integral software.
It is essential to note:
• Up to three EPI-bus devices can be connected per MMI-bus device with an EPI-bus interface, thus re-
ducing the number of MMI-bus devices (max. 15) by 1 per connected EPI-bus device.
• Each EPI-bus device requires an address (1 – 3).
• After each MMI-bus device, the addressing of the EPI-bus device starts again at 1.
• The total cable length of 1 m must not be exceeded on the EPI-bus.
EPI-bus devices are connected via an MMI-bus device with an additional EPI master interface, via the B8-
CII (Integral EvoxX M) or B9-CII (Integral EvoxX C) built-in operating panels or directly to the B10-CPU-X1
(Integral EvoxX B) master control unit. Data transmission and power supply are via a patch cable (1 m
long) which is connected to the EPI master interface.
NOTE
For the connection of the EPI-bus devices, it makes no difference from which side the
EPI-bus is connected COMING or GOING. For reasons of clarity, however, it is recom-
mended to retain a connection system that has been started.
