REAMBLE «According to the contractual soil report issued by GEOARAB, the hard coqued marl should have been reached in ranges of depth from 0.8 m 10 50m. — _ + Foundations have been basically designed, taking for level of bottom of footing a thickness of 0,801 plus an anchorage of 0.5m in the Inyer of coqued mal - The existing top soil (average thick 0,5 to 0.80 m) bas been removed for the execution of the general platform at elevation 911. = When we have excavated for the foundations of the phosphoric unit, the hard coqued marl has been found at deeper elevation than expected. The to} layer of the platform wes underlain with a layor of yellowish swelling marl This marl being declared by GEOARAB as unsuitable for foundation base (seo ‘2x GEOARAB in Appendix 1) its layer has been removed to seach the hard coqued marl, ‘As a matter of fact, this material is unacceptable due to the fact it is leachable by water and consequently loosing its bearing capacities. As the risk to have ter reaching this material either by process leak either by rain directly or indirectly (underground wadi), this characteristic has to be taken into account, more especially as the surrounding rain water is drained to the low level existing under the PA unit. Consequently for all main foundations of the PA unit, KREBS with his experience in such kind of soil, does not want to take the risk to built on it, end considers that there is no other way than the following to remove all swelling marl to reach the coqued marl and to replice it \ cither by lean concrete or good material backfill, Brey Fax énis par : 23 1 38 45 $7 67 KREBS MONTIGNY/BX 4A 21/87/95 18:44 Pg 168 - IC 4, NICAL SOLUTION: To reach the level of designed foundations we propose the following solutions recommianded by GEOARAB, shown on the sketches in Appendix 2. 1) Phosphoric acid storage For tanks T443, 7444, T445 and T441, 7442, we propose to fill the void with base coarse. Particular care shall be taken for the execution of this fill as described in Chapter 3. 2) Other works of P.A. area Gerubbing, reaction, effluent disposal, concentration), We propose to fill the void with lean concrete, with a cement content of 200 kg/m3. The top of the hard coqued marl shall be cleaned and then the holes shall be filled up to the level of foundatiors, 1 lean concrete 0,30 cm_beyon: indation ; the remaining space shall be filled with compacted borrow material. 62s, Exy éafe ur: oO 3.1.
