1 INTRODUCTION AND TECHNICAL DATA

1.1 PURPOSE OF MANUAL

This manual describes the FL-XTV-1k-fluo-standard, which is a Camera Lens Assembly, and is one of the
components in a line of II/TV subsystems.
The FL-XTV-1k-fluo-standard interfaces electrically to the other components of the subsystem as shown in
the figure below.
Its main functions are:
• To convert incoming visible light into camera images and pass them on for further processing.
• Regulates the amount of incoming light to the CCD sensor, independent of the amount of light entering
the lens, to produce video with constant output level.

4.2.2 Mounting of the FL-XTV-1k-fluo-standard

Important: Before installing the CLA refer to paragraph 5.1 for camera focusing adjustment.

Make sure that the optics of the CLA is clean. Dust particles can be removed with clean, dry air. Other
contaminations can be removed by means of non-fluffing Q-tips and alcohol.
Remark: use each Q-tip only once and make straight movements across the lens.

• Insert the 4 spring-loaded screws into the new Camera Lens Assembly.

Figure 8: Insert spring-loaded screws.

Check the II output window for dust or contamination. If needed clean according to the IIA manual.
• Lower the CLA onto the II-assembly and tighten the 4 spring-loaded screws.
• Reconnect the cables to the Iris, Channel Link and Camera power supply.
− Remark: special attention must be paid to the flex-foil cable. Rotate the tag gently downwards to
lock the fixation. Make sure that the flex-foil is guided correctly and is not buckled.

5 ADJUSTMENTS

There are three physical adjustments to be made on the FL-XTV-1k-fluo-standard namely camera focusing,
camera head centering & camera horizon adjustment.

WARNING

For the following adjustments it is necessary to generate X-ray in the form of fluoroscopy.
Protection is essential for involved personnel as well as working according to procedures.
________________

5.1 CAMERA FOCUSING

Depending on whether the FL-XTV-1k-fluo-standard is used with a 23cm or 31cm IIA the focusing procedure
is slightly different.

5.1.1 CLA used with 23cm IIA

• Check that the focus adjustment is in the default 0 position. If the position of the alignment mark is not
lined up with 0 mark on the scale then adjustment is needed.

Figure 9: Focus adjustment.

• Use latex gloves, to protect against possible contamination of the optics, insert fingers from the bottom
side of the adaptor and rotate the ring as shown until the mark is in line with 0.

5.1.2 CLA used with 31cm IIA

• Note the marking on the Image Intensifier Assembly that indicates how much the focus has to be
corrected.
• Use latex gloves, to protect against possible contamination of the optics, insert fingers from the bottom
side of the adaptor and rotate the ring as shown.
• Rotate the inner ring so that the mark on the scale matches with the marking found on the IIA.
