Seventh Grade Reading Comprehension 2: The Lost Puppy

Sophie was walking home from school when she saw a small puppy wandering aimlessly on the
side of the road. The puppy was dirty and looked like it hadn't eaten in days. Sophie felt sorry
for the puppy and decided to take it home.
She took the puppy to her house and gave it a warm bath. The puppy was very scared and
didn't want to be left alone. Sophie decided to keep the puppy and named him Lucky. Lucky
quickly became a part of the family and Sophie loved him dearly.
One day, while Sophie was at school, Lucky managed to escape from the house. Sophie was
devastated when she came home and realized that Lucky was gone. She searched everywhere
for him but he was nowhere to be found.
Days turned into weeks and Sophie had given up hope of ever finding Lucky. One day, she
received a call from the local animal shelter. Lucky had been found and was safe and sound.
Sophie rushed to the animal shelter to bring Lucky back home. Lucky was overjoyed to see
Sophie again and wagged his tail furiously. Sophie hugged him tightly and promised to never let
him go again.
