had been the outcome of the culminated efforts of the faculty and students of the departments.
The chief guest for the inauguration, Dr. D. S. Jangamshetti, our beloved Principal, shared
wonderful thoughts on need for Innovation. Dr. S. V. Saboji, Professor of CSE, Coordinator of the
event, highlighted the series of talks scheduled throughout the day. He emphasized that for good
Project development, Ideation is very essential. HoD of CSE Dr. V. B. Pagi, delivered Presidential
remarks. Dr. G. B. Chittapur, the Coordinator of the event, proposed vote of thanks.

Session – I
Image and Audio Processing by Dr. V. B. Pagi, Professor & Head, Dept. of CSE, BEC Bagalkote,
Applications of Image and Audio Processing were covered by him. Wide range of topics covering
Content based Image Retrieval, Biometrics, Medical Image Processing, Agriculture, Document
Image Analysis, were explored.

Session – II
LATEX as a Technical Writing Tool, by Dr. Lokesh Bhajantri
Professional documents involving Technical writing and reporting require LATEX as a tool. He
covered various editing and formatting aspects available in LATEX. He discussed the limitations
of traditional editing software including MS Word.

Session – III
Web Application Development, by Prof. S. M. Magi, Faculty of MCA, BEC Bagalkote
He covered web application development from the perspective of developing static and dynamic
web applications. He emphasized on how to choose title, what are different types of web

applications, web and collaborative work, planning a roadmap, different technologies available
in market to develop web application, Challenges to web developers and Security aspects etc.

Session – IV
MATLAB for Image Processing, by Dr. V. C. Kagawade, Assoc. Prof., AIML, BEC Bagalkote
Dr. V. C. Kagawade introduced different MATLAB packages and commands for Image Processing.
Different aspects of Image Processing, including Image segmentation, Image Enhancement,
Binarization, Compression/Decompression, Feature Extraction and Classification. He also
presented an exhaustive list of projects that can be carried out in this area. MATLAB is a
proprietary multi-paradigm programming language and numeric computing environment
developed by MathWorks. MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data,
implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written
in other languages. It provide rich set of built-in functions to solve real world problem. Session
covers various DSP, Image Processing, IoT-based projects

Session –V
Solutions using Machine Learning Techniques, by Dr. S. V. Saboji, Prof., CSE, BEC Bagalkote
He presented Machine learning algorithms, including supervised and un-supervised algorithms.
He illustrated the use of Machine and Deep Learning techniques for different projects guided by
him and others in the department. He also covered wide variety of problems for which Machine
Learning can be applied for solving.

Session-VI
Hardware Projects, Dr. K. Bhat, HoD, Dept. of EIE, BEC Bagalkote
Dr. K. Bhat presented ideas of the projects involving hardware aspects, covering IoT, networking,
sensors and instruments. His vast experience of guiding projects for ECE and EIE students was
successful in invoking thoughts of the students to take up interest in hardware projects. Real time
hardware project ideas like smart toilet, electronic soap, taluk/district soil data repository, smart
saloon helmet etc. are discussed. There were total of 14 real time, so far not solved (unsolved)
issues/problems.

Session-VII
AICTE IDEA LAB and Support for Projects, by Dr. Anil Devangavi, HoD AIML, BEC Bagalkote
Dr. Anil Devangavi presented the funding and technical support that can be extended to carryout
the projects, with the help of 3D printing, IoT, Drones. He emphasized the emanation of project
ideas in the environs of the IDEA Lab. Different competitions conducted by IDEA LAB were also
emphasized.

Valedictory function of the Ideathon was organized at 5:30 pm. Dr. K. Chandrasekhar, CoE, was
the Chief Guest. He stressed on the significance of carrying out the projects from the first year
BE. He discussed the Project ideas which can be taken up at the Examination Section, including
Registration, Result Announcement, Seating Arrangement, Invigilation duty allotment, Result
Analysis, Marks Entry and the like. Dr. S. V. Saboji, the Coordinator of the Ideathon welcomed the
gathering and Dr. Shobha Patil, HoD ISE, delivered vote of thanks.
