There are a lot of meaningful learnings we can gather from the Parable of the Rich man and Lazarus that
we could apply in our real life. I have learned that in every little thing we receive in life, we should be
thankful, for this is given to us by God, it is a blessing. Furthermore, I learned how to be strongly
independent and that everything we do has a reward and a punishment at the same time. At first,
Lazarus, the poor man was suffering, he had a disease called leprosy which has given him a lot of sores.
His sores were licked by dogs, he received a small amount of leftover food, clothes and he had no place
to live in. While the Rich man is living his life with plenty of food, clothes and a comfortable shelter.
When The Rich man died, he was suffering in flames and thorns. He was in hell. The Rich man saw
Lazarus beside Abraham and not beside him suffering. Lazarus has already experienced enough
throughout his life and he hasn’t complained at least once. He was thankful for all the things he received
whether it is big or small, even if he had a sickness, he didn’t give up and still tried to live. When Lazarus
died, he got a reward from God and, that is living in heaven in his afterlife. God has given us a lot of
blessings that some people don’t have like our poor brothers and sisters. He has given us our loving
families, food, shelter, clothes and more. The phrase “Kahit Isang Kusing, Ito ay may dating” simply
explains that even it is a small amount it is still provides. As I have mentioned, every little thing we have
received is a blessing from our Almighty God. We are able to receive these blessings as a reward for
always believing in Him. That is why our poor brothers and sisters is happy even if they received one
peso coin or five. They are happy because at least it increases their savings in providing for their families.
