NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 – State-wise Eligibility, Domicile

NEET Domicile Criteria 2024 - Aspirants qualifying for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test
(NEET) can get admission to state quota seats and private institutes by fulfilling the state NEET 2024
domicile criteria. From every government medical and dental college, 85% state quota will be
available for the state-domicile NEET candidates. While 15% of seats from the government colleges
will be reserved for All India Quota (AIQ) candidates. The state counselling bodies will also be
conducting NEET UG counselling for all seats in private institutes.

NEET students willing for admission to 85% state quota seats and private universities are usually
confused about NEET domicile rules. It must be noted that being a NEET domicile means that the
candidate must be a permanent resident of the particular state. To facilitate the state domicile
candidates, the state counselling authorities will grant admission to those who fulfil the NEET UG
2024 state domicile eligibility.

State-wise NEET UG 2024Domicile Criteria

Below are the state-wise domicile criteria of NEET 2024 which every candidate must check.

NEET Domicile for Andaman and Nicobar

For admission to 97 state quota seats, candidates must be domicile holders of the UT for Andaman
and Nicobar MBBS admission.

Andhra Pradesh NEET Domicile Rules

The admission to AP MBBS/BDS for state quota seats is divided among local and non-local
candidates. As per the AP NEET admission, the local status is divided into Andhra University (AU) and
Sri Ventaswara University (SVU) areas. AU local area includes seven districts while five districts are in
the SVU area. The Non-local candidates are eligible for 15% of Unreserved seats only. The local
candidates are eligible for both 15% unreserved seats and 85% local area seats.

AP Local Area Candidates:

Students from the following districts of AU, SVU or OU (Osmania University, Telangana) areas are
considered as the local area NEET domicile 2024 for MBBS/BDS admission to the local area institute,
and to any other educational institution (other than a State-wide college) which is under the control
of the State Government and is situated in this local area.

• AU local area districts - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari,
Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam

• OU local area districts - Adilabad, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam,


Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Warangal

• SVU local area districts - Ananthapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Nellore

AP domicile criteria for NEET 2024

Any candidate shall be considered a Local Candidate in relation to the local area.

• If they have studied in a school/ college in the local area for a minimum period of 4 consecutive
years, immediately preceding the year they appear in the relevant qualifying examination

• If they have resided in the local area for a minimum period of 4 consecutive years, immediately
preceding the year they appear for the relevant qualifying examination

A candidate who is not regarded as a local candidate under the above criteria, and has studied in
educational institutions in the State for a minimum period 7 consecutive academic years, ending with
the year they apply for NEET, may be considered local in relation to:

• The local area where they have studied for the maximum no. of years out of the said 7 years

• Their period of study in two local areas is equal

• They have not studied in any Educational Institutions in the state, but have resided in any local
area/ or two local areas (for equal time) for a minimum period of 7 consecutive years.

The following categories can apply for the 15% unreserved seats:

• Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding periods of study
outside the State or their parent/s have resided in the State for a total period of ten years
excluding periods of employment outside the State.
• Candidates whose parent/s are in the employment of the state or Central Government, Public
Sector Corporations, local bodies, Universities and Educational institutions and other similar quasi-
public institutions within the state.

• Candidates whose spouses’ are employees of the state or Central Government, Public Sector
corporations, local bodies, Universities and Educational institutions recognized by the Government
or University or other competent authorities and similar other quasi- Government Institutions
within the state.

NEET domicile criteria for Arunachal Pradesh

Aspirants who meet the following domicile criteria of NEET 2024 will be eligible for 85% state quota
Arunachal Pradesh NEET admission:

• 80% of seats in the state are reserved for APST category (Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe).

• 20% of seats are for the Non-APST, which include children of Non- APST State Govt. Employees;
children of Central Govt. and PSU employees; children of all others who are not included in any of
the above categories, have been living in Arunachal Pradesh for a minimum of 3 years, and have
passed Class 12 or equivalent from any school in Arunachal Pradesh.

Assam NEET domicile 2024

The domicile criteria in the state of Assam would be as follows for admission to Assam MBBS/BDS:

• The candidate or their parent(s) must be living in the state of Assam continuously for a minimum
of 20 years.

• The candidate must have studied in the state of Assam from classes 7 to 12.

NEET Bihar domicile criteria 2024

Candidates who fulfil the following NEET 2024 domicile criteria would be eligible for 85% state quota
reservation in NEET Bihar admission:

• Candidates whose parent/s are residents of Bihar or refugees settled in Bihar.

• Candidates whose parent/s may belong to another state but are employed with Bihar Govt.

• Candidates whose parent/s were in service with the Bihar Govt. before the creation of Jharkhand,
and whose services are transferable to either Bihar or Jharkhand Govt.

• Candidates whose parent/s are employed with the Central Govt. or PSUs, State undertakings and
are posted in Bihar.
NEET UG 2024 domicile for Chandigarh

Students who meet the following NEET criteria may be eligible for 85% state/ UT reservation in the
medical colleges in the Chandigarh NEET admission:

• Aspirants who have studied in schools recognized by the Chandigarh administration and situated
in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, as regular students.

• Candidates whose parents are residents of Chandigarh for the preceding 5 years from the date of
NEET application.

• Candidates whose parents are employees of Central/ State Governments on deputation to


Chandigarh, including Govt. employees of Chandigarh administration or working in autonomous
bodies/ companies where Chandigarh administration has 20% or more stake. They should have
resided for the preceding 3 years from the date of NEET application.

NEET domicile eligibility criteria for UT Chandigarh pool for SC category and PwD

• Candidates must fulfil the general eligibility criteria.

• Candidates must submit a relevant SC/ PWD Certificate.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Indian Students

• The candidates must be of Indian origin (OCI’s; people of Indian origin also holding a passport of
some other country; people who have resided in some other country for a minimum period of 3
years immediately preceding the year of admission to Govt. Medical College, Chandigarh) and fulfil
the general eligibility criteria. Any foreign nationals of Non- Indian origin are not eligible to apply.

• Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in relevant subjects.

• Foreign Indian students will be required to obtain “Certificates of Equivalence” for their qualifying
examinations from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, and Punjab University,
Chandigarh.

Foreign Indian Students category is further bifurcated into:

• Students who have an ancestral background (parent/s, grandparent/s or self have resided in the
UT for at least 5 years ever since the origin of Chandigarh) or owned immovable property (in the
name of parent/s, grandparent/s) for at least 5 years.

• Students who have an ancestral background in some other state/ UT than Chandigarh. Certificates
from the competent authorities have to be issued for the same. However, preference is given to
the category mentioned above.
Chhattisgarh NEET domicile criteria 2024

For Chhattisgarh MBBS admission, candidates must fulfil the NEET 2024 domicile criteria to avail 85%
state quota in the UT:

• Aspirants must have been born in the state of Chattisgarh.

• Candidates must be domicile holders of Chattisgarh.

• Candidates must have passed Class 12 from an Educational Institution affiliated to the Chattisgarh
Board, or any other board recognized by the state administration.

• Parent/s of the candidate must be employees of the Central Govt. or the Govt. of Chattisgarh and
must be living in the state.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli NEET domicile eligibility

The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli MBBS/BDS admission gives priority to medical
aspirants as per their domicile eligibility:

Priority 1: Given to applicants whose parents/guardians are domicile holders of the UT of Daman &
Diu or Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and the applicant has studied continuously from Class 8th to 12th in
any of the recognized schools of that UT.

Priority 2: Given to candidates whose parents/guardians are domicile holders of UTs of Daman & Diu
or Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and whose candidate has studied in any recognized educational institution
anywhere in the country or abroad.

Priority 3: Given to candidates whose parents/guardians are employees (regular/on deputation/on


transfer) of the UT Administration/Central Government/UT PSUs/Central PSUs and are posted in
Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. They must have been posted continuously for the past 5
years as on last date of application for admission. The applicants must have studied in a recognized
school of Daman and Diu or Dadra & Nagar Haveli, continuously from 10th to 12th standard.

Priority 4: Given to other eligible candidates from any State/UT.

Delhi domicile rules for NEET 2024

To be eligible for the 85% state quota seats in DU MBBS admission, candidates must have passed
Class 12 from any school in Delhi- NCR, affiliated with boards CBSE, ICSE or JMI.
NEET Goa domicile criteria 2024

Aspirants willing for Goa MBBS/BDS admission must have lived in Goa for a minimum period of 10
years (5 years for those whose parents or grandparents were born in Goa) and must have passed
Class 12 or equivalent from an Educational Institution situated in Goa.

Gujarat domicile rules for NEET 2024

Candidates who meet the following criteria would be eligible for state-quota reservation in the state
for admission to Gujarat NEET:

• The candidate should be a Citizen of India or an Overseas Citizen of India.

• Candidates who are born in Gujarat or have the domicile of Gujarat, and have passed Class 10 and
12 from any of the five Education boards (Gujarat Board; CBSE; CISCE; ISB and NIOS) recognized by
the state, provided that their school is situated in the state of Gujarat.

• Candidates whose parent/s are in All India Services, Gujarat Govt. Services posted outside the state
of Gujarat, or Defense services having domicile of Gujarat but posted outside Gujarat state shall be
eligible.

• Candidates who are born out of the state of Gujarat but have passed 10 and 12 from the state,
would need to produce domicile certificates. Also, in this case, their parent/s must be residents of
the state of Gujarat.

• Candidates who are born in the UT’s of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu, would be
exempted from furnishing the domicile of Gujarat state.

• Candidates who have studied in Jawahar Navodya Vidalaya’s (JNV’s) uptil Std. 8 would be eligible,
and so would be candidates who have studied in JNV’s located outside of Gujarat, uptil Std. 12.

NEET 2024 domicile criteria Haryana

The domicile criteria for NEET in Haryana state that the candidate must be a bonafide resident of the
state of Haryana, which means the candidate should have resided there for a minimum of 10 years
and should have studied under any board, CBSE, HBSE, AICSE or Open Haryana Board. For more

HP NEET domicile eligibility 2024

Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be able to avail of the 85% state quota
reservation in the government medical colleges in the state for admission to HP NEET:

• Candidates whose parent/s are bonafide Himachalis, and who have passed at least two exams
(from classes 8 to 12 or equivalent) from recognized Schools situated in the state of Himachal, and
affiliated to recognized Boards of the country.

• Candidates are bonafide Himachalis who have studied in Navodya Schools in Himachal Pradesh, or
who have passed Class 10 or 12 exams under exchange programs with other Navodya Schools in
the country.

Candidates whose parent/s are not bonafide Himachalis, but are employees of the Central Govt./
State Govt. of Himachal/ Judiciary, only if the following criteria are met:

a) The parent/s should be employed with the govt. for a period of a minimum of two years

(b) The candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized school in Himachal
Pradesh

• Candidates whose parent/s are regular employees of the Himachal Pradesh Govt./ Autonomous
bodies under the jurisdiction of Himachal Govt., can be exempt from the criteria around schooling,
given that the parent/s have been holding posts outside of Himachal Pradesh for a minimum
period of 3 years.

• Candidates whose parent/s are bonafide Himachalis and working outside of Himachal with other
State Govts, shall be eligible for State quota in Himachal only if they are not eligible for the same in
any other state, where their parent/s work.

• Candidates whose parent/s are bonafide Himachalis and serving/ ex-servicemen in Defense/
Paramilitary forces, shall be unconditionally exempted from the criteria around schooling.

NEET J&K domicile criteria 2024

To be eligible for the JK MBBS/BDS admission in UT of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the students
must fulfil the following NEET domicile criteria:

• The candidate should be a domicile of UT of J&K /Ladakh as the case may be;

• And, an aspirant must have passed higher secondary Part II (Class 12) or an equivalent
examination from a recognized statutory Board/University with English, Physics, Chemistry and
Biology; from the state.
Jharkhand NEET domicile rules 2024

NEET domicile rules for the Jharkhand MBBS admission are as given below. To read more details on

• Only local/permanent residents of Jharkhand would be eligible for the 85% state-reserved seats.
Certificates for permanent residency will have to be furnished by the competent authorities.

• Domicile holders of Jharkhand, who have passed Class XII from the Jharkhand Board would also be
eligible.

Karnataka domicile criteria for NEET 2024

Candidates would be considered for the 85% state quota in Karnataka NEET UG only if any of the
following criteria are fulfilled:

• The candidate should have studied in one or more Govt. or Govt. recognised schools located in
Karnataka, for a minimum period of 7 years, between Class 1 to 12 or equivalent.

• The candidate should have passed class 11 and 12 or equivalent from a Govt. or Govt. recognized
Institution located in Karnataka, and their parent/s should have studied in Karnataka for a
minimum period of 7 years.

• The candidate and their parent/s’ mother tongue should be either Kannada, Tulu or Kodava, and
the parent/s must be domiciled in Karnataka. The candidate must have studied in an Educational
Institution outside of Karnataka and should be residing outside of Karnataka as of May 11 of the
particular year. The candidate shall undergo a Kannada Language Test, conducted by the KEA.

• Candidate’s mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu or Kodava, and they should have studied for
a minimum period of 7 years (between Classes 1 and 12) in the disputed Kannada speaking area of
South Sholapur or Akkalkot or Jath, or Gadhingraj Taluks of Maharashtra, or Kasargod,
Hosardurga, or Manjeshwar Taluks of Kerala. The candidate shall undergo a Kannada Language
Test, conducted by the KEA.

• Candidates whose parent/s are Defense Personnel and have served in Karnataka continuously for
a minimum period of one year, while the candidate was appearing for classes 11 and 12 or
equivalent, from a Govt. or Govt. recognized Institute of Karnataka.

• Candidates who are children of Defense Personnel, who declared a place in Karnataka as their
hometown while joining the Defense Services.
• Candidates who are children of Defense Personnel currently serving outside of Karnataka, but the
family has been allowed by competent authorities to stay in Karnataka. The candidate must have
passed the qualifying examination for a Govt. or Govt. recognised Institution in the state.

• Candidates who are children of ex-servicemen, who declared a place in Karnataka as their
hometown while joining the Defense Services, would be required to produce proof of domicile.
Candidates could have passed qualifying examination from a recognized Institution located
anywhere in the country.

• Candidates whose parent/s are employees of the Central Govt. or Karnataka State Govt. who are
liable to be transferred anywhere in the country, but have served in Karnataka continuously for a
minimum period of one year, while the candidate was appearing for classes 11 and 12 or
equivalent, from a Govt. or Govt. recognized Institute of Karnataka.

• Candidates who are children of MP/s elected from Karnataka. They could have passed Class 12
from a recognized Institution anywhere in the country.

• Candidates whose parent/s are employed in All India Services of Karnataka cadre, or Karnataka
State Govt. and is serving/ has served outside the state of Karnataka in the period corresponding
to the candidate’s study outside the state (Classes 1 to 12 or equivalent), can be added to make up
the 7 years’ minimum requirement as in point 1.

• Candidates whose parent/s are migrants from Jammu and Kashmir. Proof needs to be submitted
to the competent authority.

• Candidates who have studied 10 full years in Kannada medium. They need not appear for any
language test by KEA and should have passed the qualifying examination from any Govt. or Govt.
recognized Educational Institution within the country.

• Candidates whose parent/s are/were employed with the Central Armed Police Force and had
declared a place in Karnataka as their hometown while joining the CAPF. Proof of domicile should
be obtained and furnished from and to the competent authorities. Candidates could have passed
Class 12 from a recognized Institution anywhere in the country.

• Candidates must have studied from a Karnataka- based Institution from classes 9th to 12th, or 1st
and 2nd year PUC. Also, the candidate’s parent/s must have studied from Karnataka for a
minimum of 7 years.

• If the candidate has passed Class XII from an Institution outside of Karnataka, their parent/s must
be a Karnataka domicile holder. Also, in this case, the candidate or the parent/s must have Kanada,
Kova or Tulu as their mother tongue, and the candidate would be required to take the Karnataka
Language Test.

Kerala NEET domicile rules

Aspirants seeking admission to medical colleges in Kerala are categorized as Keralite, Non-Keralite I
(NK- I), and Non- Keralite II (NK- II).

Keralite Category:

Candidates of Kerala origin as well as children of All India Service Officers from any state, but posted
in Kerala, come under this category. They are only eligible for Communal/ Special Reservations, or
some fee concessions.

Non- Keralite Category I (NK-I):

Candidates who fulfil any one of the following criteria come under the NK- I category. There is no
special/ communal reservation or fee concession for students of this category.

• Studied qualifying course in Kerala, and parent/s work with Govt. of India and are posted in Kerala.
• Studied qualifying course in Kerala, and parent/s have worked with Govt. of Kerala, for a minimum
period of 2 years.
• A resident of the state of Kerala for a period of 5 years during the study.
• The candidate has studied in Kerala from Classes VIII to XII.

Non-Keralite Category II (NK- II)

Students who do not belong to the above two categories belong to NK- II. These aspirants are not
eligible to apply for Medical seats in Govt. colleges, but only for open quota management seats for
Private Colleges in Self- Financing Medical Colleges in Kerala.

MP domicile criteria for NEET 2024

Only the candidates who are domicile holders of the state of Madhya Pradesh are eligible for the 85%
state reservation in MP NEET. However, some other candidates who are eligible to avail the same are:

• Candidates who are children of Freedom Fighters

• Candidates who are wards of Defense Personnel

• Candidates whose parent/s work with the Govt. of India and are posted in Madhya Pradesh.
NEET 2024 domicile criteria for Maharashtra

There are five ways a candidate may fulfil the domicile criteria for NEET in Maharashtra. Read details

Maharashtra State Candidature Type A:

• The candidate should have passed their 10 and 12 from the state of Maharashtra.
• The candidate should have a domicile certificate from the State of Maharashtra (should have lived
there for a period of 10 years), or a birth certificate mentioning the place of birth in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra State Candidature Type B:

• The candidate should have passed their 10 and 12 from the state of Maharashtra.
• The candidate’s father or mother should have a domicile certificate from the State of Maharashtra.

Maharashtra State Candidature Type C:

• The candidate should have passed their X and XII from the state of Maharashtra.
• The candidate’s father or mother should be a Govt. of India employee or Govt. of India
undertaking, who is posted and reporting to duty in the State of Maharashtra.

Maharashtra State Candidature Type D:

• The candidate should have passed their 10 and 12 from the state of Maharashtra.
• The candidate’s father or mother should be an employee of the Govt. of Maharashtra or Govt. of
Maharashtra undertaking.

Maharashtra State Candidature Type E:

• The candidate should have passed their 10 and 12 from a recognized Institution from the
Maharashtra- Karnataka border.
• The mother tongue of the candidate should be Marathi and they should have a domicile/ birth
certificate from the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area.

Institutional Quota

Any eligible candidates from all over the country, including NRI’s, OCI’s, and OMC’s (Outside
Maharashtra Candidates), who appear for the NEET can target Institutional Quota seats, as long as
they fulfill the rules and regulations framed by the competent authorities. However, preference is
given to NRI candidates. Competent authorities fill these seats through CAP.
Manipura NEET domicile rules 2024

For admission to Manipura NEET admission, only permanent residents/ domicile holders of Manipur
are eligible to avail the 85% state quota reservation for admissions through NEET.

Domicile criteria of NEET 2024 for Meghalaya

Candidates are required to fulfil any one of the following conditions to be eligible for Meghalaya
NEET admission:

• The aspirant must be a resident (Permanent/Domicile) of one of the 8 North-Eastern states of India
including Sikkim.

• The aspirant should have completed Class 11 and 12 or equivalent from any recognized school in
India.

NEET domicile criteria for Mizoram

Candidates must be a resident Indian national and permanent resident/domicile of Mizoram, in


order to avail of the state quota reservation in NEET Mizoram admission.

Odisha NEET domicile criteria 2024

The candidates eligible for Odisha MBBS/BDS admission must be permanent natives of Odisha OR
Children of All India Civil Service officers serving in the state of Odisha cadre.

NEET Punjab domicile rules

Only bonafide residents of Punjab are eligible for the 85% state quota seats through Punjab UG NEET
admission. However, exemptions from this rule are given to:

• Candidates whose parent/s were working with the Central Govt. of India/ Punjab Govt./ or All India
Services and have now passed away.

• Candidates who are children/ dependents of Central Govt. Employees (now not alive) who were
posted in Punjab for at least 2 years out of 3 immediately preceding the year of passing Class XII or
equivalent, but were posted outside of Punjab for some time during this period.

• Candidates born in Punjab who are children of late Defense/Para Military Personnel.

• Candidates who are children of Defense Personnel posted in Punjab.

• Candidates applying under the NRI/ Minority quota are also eligible to avail the state quota seats.
Puducherry NEET-UG domicile 2024

A candidate must be an Indian National and fulfil one of the following criteria for being eligible for
85% reservation in Govt. Colleges:

• The candidate or whose parent (either Mother or Father or Both) or Guardian (in case of children
who have lost both the parents) has been residing continuously in this Union Territory for at least
five years preceding the date of application.

• Those who have passed the SSLC / HSC or any other public examination and for that purpose had
undergone academic studies continuously for 5 successive classes immediately preceding the
qualifying examination (including the year of qualifying 22 examinations) in a recognized
Educational Institution located in Pondicherry UT and having their residence in Pondicherry UT for
5 years continuously during that period.

• Children of natives of U.T. of Puducherry who has declared any place in U.T. of Puducherry as their
home town and so certified by their respective Heads of Office. Nativity Certificate in the
prescribed format has to be enclosed.

• Children whose parents are Central/ State Government Servants/ Defense Personnel/ Central
Paramilitary Forces/ Employees of Public Sector Undertakings wholly or substantially owned either
by the Central Government or by the Puducherry Administration posted and serving in U.T. of
Puducherry for at least a minimum continuous period of three years immediately prior to the last
date of submission of application.

Rajasthan domicile criteria for NEET 2024

Any of the following NEET domicile criteria for Rajasthan must be fulfilled by a candidate to be
eligible for the 85% state reserved seats in Rajasthan NEET admission criteria:

• The candidate must be a certified resident of the state of Rajasthan.

• Parent/s of the candidate must have lived in Rajasthan for a minimum period of 10 years, and the
candidate must have studied in the state from classes VIII to XII.

• The candidate parent/s are serving/ retired employees of the Govt. of Rajasthan and have put in at
least 3 years of service on the last date of submission of the online registration form in the year of
admission.

• The candidate is a natural child of a serving/ retired Defense/ Para- Military personnel having
origin in Rajasthan but may be posted anywhere in India.
• The candidate is a natural child of a permanent, serving Defense Personnel posted in Rajasthan on
the last date of submission of the online registration form in the year of admission.

• The candidate is a child of a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, but must not be availing a benefit
like this in any other state.

Tamil Nadu NEET domicile 2024

To avail of the state quota reservation under Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission:

• The candidate must be a bona fide resident of the state.

• Candidates who have completed their schooling from 6 to 12 from the state of Tamil Nadu, need
to furnish Nativity Certificate. A permanent Residency Certificate in lieu of Nativity Certificate will
not be accepted. However, they would be required to submit their parent/s’ Birth Certificate,
Ration Card, SSLC/ 10/ 12 Certificate, or No Graduate Certificate, in case parents are not literate.

• Students with a Domicile of Tamil Nadu but have partially or fully completed schooling from 6 to
12 from outside of the state, would be required to submit true copies of the parents’ documents
as mentioned (Birth Certificate, Ration Card, SSLC/ 10/ 12 Certificate, or No Graduate Certificate, in
case of parents, are not literate).

• Students will also be required to submit an undertaking stating that they have not applied as
natives of any other state, apart from Tamil Nadu.

• NRI and PIO (Person of Indian Origin) candidates will also be eligible under Management Quota,
given they meet the rules and regulations of the Govt. of India/ Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

• Students from other states who are living in Tamil Nadu, and students from other states who have
studied Classes 6 to 12 in Tamil Nadu, will only be considered for admission under the open
category, and not the state quota.

NEET Telangana domicile rules 2024

The admission to Telangana MBBS/BDS for state quota seats is divided for local and non-local
candidates. As per the Telangana NEET admission, the local status is divided into Osmania University
(OU), Andhra University (AU) and Sri Ventaswara University (SVU) areas. AU local area includes seven
districts while five districts in the SVU area. The Non-local candidates are eligible for 15% of
Unreserved seats only. The Local candidates are eligible for both 15% unreserved seats and 85%
local area seats.

Telangana Local Area Candidates:


Students from the following districts of AU, SVU or OU areas are considered as the local area NEET
domicile 2024 for MBBS/BDS admission to the local area institute, and to any other educational
institution (other than a State-wide college) which is under the control of the State Government and
is situated in this local area.

• AU local area - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna,
Guntur and Prakasham

• OU local area - Adilabad, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahaboobnagar,


Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Warangal

• SVU local area - Ananthapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Nellore

NEET domicile criteria for Telangana:

• If they have studied in a school/ college in the local area for a minimum period of 4 consecutive
year, immediately preceding the year they appear for the relevant qualifying examination

• If they have resided in the local area for a minimum period of 4 consecutive years, immediately
preceding the year they appear for the relevant qualifying examination

A candidate who is not regarded as a local candidate under the above criteria, and has studied in
educational institutions in the State for a minimum period 7 consecutive academic years, ending with
the year they apply for NEET, may be considered local in relation to:

• The local area where they have studied for the maximum no. of years out of the said 7 years

• Their period of study in two local areas is equal

• They have not studied in any Educational Institutions in the state, but have resided in any local
area/ or two local areas (for equal time) for a minimum period of 7 consecutive years.

The following categories can apply for the 15% unreserved seats:

• Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding periods of study
outside the state or their parent/s have resided in the State for a total period of ten years
excluding period of employment outside the State.

• Candidates who parent/s are in the employment of the state or Central Government, Public Sector
Corporations, local bodies, Universities and Educational institutions and other similar quasi -public
institutions within the state.

• Candidates whose spouses’ are employees of the state or Central Government, Public Sector
corporations, local bodies, Universities and Educational institutions recognized by the Government
or University or other competent authority and similar other quasi- Government Institutions within
the state.

Domicile criteria for management quota seats

• Candidates from all over the country are eligible to apply for the Management Quota seats
(Category B and C- NRI), if they have the relevant subjects and qualifying marks in 10+2.

• Aspirants who have completed qualifying education from outside Telangana state, are required to
submit a “Certificate of Equivalence” from the Board of Intermediate Education of Telangana.

• Aspirants who have completed qualifying education from outside India are required to submit a
“Certificate of Equivalence”, issued by Association on Indian Universities, New Delhi, and Board of
Intermediate Education of Telangana.

NEET 2024 domicile criteria Tripura

For Tripura MBBS admission, one of the following criteria for being eligible for the 85% state quota in
Tripura:

Clause 1: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Tripura and they or their parent/s must be
residing in the state of Tripura for a continuous period of at least 10 years. The candidate must not
have applied for the domicile of any other state except for Tripura.

Clause 2: Children of All India Services Officers borne in Tripura Cadre and Children of the employees
of the State Govt. posted outside of Tripura, will be eligible to appear for the counselling regardless
of their prior stay in Tripura.

Clause 3: In case a candidate is not a permanent resident of Tripura but their parent/s are on
deputation as an employee of the Govt. of Tripura, or employee of the Central Govt. posted in
Tripura, and have served in Tripura continuously for a period of at least 3 years, prior to appearing
for Class XII or equivalent examination from any School/ Institution in Tripura.

Clause 4: In the case of Ex-Servicemen, either the candidate or their parent/s must have been staying
in Tripura for a continuous period of at least 5 years, immediately prior to the date of applying for
NEET, and the candidate must have passed Class XII or equivalent in the year of the NEET
examination, from any School recognized by the Govt. of India/ Govt. of Tripura, with subjects
required to be eligible for NEET.

Clause 5: Children of Defense Personnel (Army/ Navy/ Airforce) hailing from Tripura shall be eligible
to appear for the counselling, provided that the candidate must have stayed in Tripura for a
continuous period of at least 5 years immediately prior to the date of applying for NEET and the
candidate must have passed Class XII or equivalent from any Institution of Tripura, which subjects
required to be eligible for NEET.

NEET domicile rules 2024 for Uttarakhand

Aspirants are required to meet any one of the following criteria to avail of the 85% state quota in
Uttarakhand MBBS admission:

• They must be permanent residents of Uttarakhand and must have passed Classes 10th and 12th
from a recognized Educational Institution in Uttarakhand.

• Candidates may not be permanent residents of Uttarakhand but must have passed Classes 10th
and 12th from a recognized Educational Institution in Uttarakhand. These candidates, however,
shall not be entitled to any type of reservation.

• Aspirants who are permanent residents/ domicile holders of Uttarakhand but have passed Classes
10th and 12th from a recognized Educational Institution outside of the state of Uttarakhand shall
also be eligible for the state quota.

UP domicile criteria for NEET 2024

Candidates are required to fulfil any of the following criteria to be eligible for the state quota in UP
NEET admission:

• The candidate is a native of the state and their father is a Resident of the state of UP.

• Candidates whose parent/s have lived in the state of UP for a minimum of 3 years.

• Candidates whose parent/s are working with the Govt. of India.

• Candidates who have passed X and XII from the state of UP, are not required to furnish domicile
certificate.

• If the candidates have passed either X or XII from the state of UP, they would be required to
furnish UP residence proof of their parent/s.

West Bengal NEET domicile criteria 2024

To be eligible for the State quota in West Bengal MBBS/BDS, NEET aspirants or their parent/s must be
domiciled in the State of West Bengal. Aspirants shall be required to download the domicile
certificate proforma on the Counselling website wbmcc.nic.in and fill the relevant proforma out of
the following three:

Proforma a1: Residential/ Domicile Certificate for candidates residing in the State of West Bengal
continuously for at least 10 years
Proforma a2: Residential/ Domicile Certificate for candidates residing in the State of West Bengal
continuously for at least 10 years, where the candidate has passed 10+2 examination from West
Bengal

Proforma b: Residential/ Domicile Certificate for candidates NOT residing in the State of West Bengal
continuously for at least 10 years, but whose parent/s are permanent resident/s of West Bengal and
having their permanent home address in West Bengal, and living continuously for at least 10 years in
West Bengal

Domicile Certificate obtained from the West Bengal e-district portal is also accepted as proof of
Domicile.

If Proforma b or e-district domicile certificate of the parent/s is furnished, producing any two of these
original ID proofs (Voter ID/ Aadhaar Card/ Passport) during document verification is required, where
the ID cards must mention that the residential address of the concerned person/s in West Bengal.

The domicile certificate is required to be signed only by the Authorities mentioned on the website of
www.wbhealth.gov.in.

NEET 2024 state-wise admission process

Candidates who wish to get admission in their states through NEET 2024 scores, need to fill out the
application form released by the respective state counselling authorities. While filling out the
application forms, aspirants need to provide their personal, academic, contact, NEET result and other
asked details.

Based on the NEET rank details, the authority prepares the merit list containing state merit rank.
Students included in the merit list will be called for the counselling process. During the counselling
process, candidates have to provide their preferences of colleges to which they wish to get
admission. On the basis of these preferences, seats available, NEET rank, reservation criteria and
other factors, admission to state MBBS/BDS 2024 is granted.
