1 An experiment is performed to investigate the rate at which thermal energy is lost from
hot water. Equal volumes of the water are poured into two identical flasks labelled A and B
A thermometer is inserted into each flask. Flask A is covered with a lid while B is lagged.

2 An experiment is performed to investigate reflection of light.

A horizontal line AB is drawn in the middle of a plain paper.

A normal MN is drawn at the centre of line AB as shown in Fig. 2.1

Fig. 2.1

A ray of light is shone on a plane mirror and the path of the ray is traced

(a) On Fig. 2.1 draw a line Itt/ to represent the incident ray such that angle AMI is 60'. 11I

(b) . A mirror is placed on line AB, and a ray of light is shone along the line IM.
Draw a line to represent the reflected ray at an angle of 30'to the normal and label it
PM.

a Starting from a point below A, draw a straight line DE through M such that the
angle AMD is 10'.

(c) o The mirror is then placed on line DE.
Draw a line to represent the new reflected ray such that the angle IMK equals the
angle KMR.

. Measure and record the angle Q between PM and RM
