journal reflection #7

I really like the part when the reader said “I came to realize that all writing consists of a series of

choices. I was an English major in college, but I don’t think I ever thought much about reading. I

read all the time. I read for my classes and on the computer and sometimes for fun, but I never

really thought about the important connections between reading and writing, and how reading in

a particular way could also make me a better writer.” I really like this because he was in a movie

theater trying to read when he realized that. I feel like a true reader and writer have a moment in

life where they know they want to be a reader or writer, Just like how this reader/writer did. I

don’t know the page but the writer was saying how we read it for information, or to read

comments and even receipts. We never actually read to wonder how the writer came up with that,

or how he put the pieces together. Every time I read now, I’m going to see how the pieces were

put together, and locate what I believe was most important to me. As I read this I learned new

things I will start doing as a read. First I'm going to decide whether I would write like this in my

writing. If not then it's okay, I just know that isn’t my writing style. I'm going to ask questions. I

think that's super important as a reader. “How did this make me feel?”. “What would i have done

to change this” I think asking questions as a reader will help me in the future with my writings. It

will help me decide if I should do the things the writer is doing. As I start to do a new style of

reading, i'm going to probably take tips and pointers from the writers and use it as my own,

maybe switch it up or just take the whole style. I think it's allowed but idk lol. And I think
sometimes an essay can start with a quote depending on how you use it and what you say. It

would be a cool little starter. I definitely used a quote before.
