How you might ask? extensive active Email threads (I think all of us were constantly checking our
email accounts every 10 seconds) and cell phone calls (just got my iphone all app'ed up and ready to
go). In my research group, we have carried out experiments that catch rubidium atom nearly
deterministically, place them in their motional ground state, and look at Hong-Ou-Mandel
interference of the bosonic atoms and spin entanglement of two atoms. I will examine how access to
microscale traps and single-particle imaging is providing us with new windows on laser cooling and
ultracold collisions. Essentially they were lightening round photo shoots where I would setup my
lights and explore the newly built lab. I used Illustrator and Photoshop for layout and vector line
work. The device was dense with detail and John and I wanted to emphasis the nanowire area, but
not loose sense of the whole device's architecture. Stay up to date on Closet happenings and get
monthly discounts. I made sure the colors were mastered correctly and maintain high fidelity scans.
John Willits, who is a graduate student in Cundiff's lab, showed me around the lab and helped me
with the photo shoot (basically made sure I didn't break anything or touch the lasers). This watch is
sleek, stylish, and perfect for any occasion or outfit. I proposed isometric perspective style illustration
which would help the visual with the scale and space a little easier. Fortunately the people over at
NIST hired another designer team to work solely on the print layout of the NIST Annual Report. Ye,
who’s also the director of CUbit, leads a center on campus funded by the National Science
Foundation called Quantum Systems through Entangled Science and Engineering (Q-SEnSE). I
worked closely with JILA Fellow Mathias Weber with the data for the cover image. So the original
image got a lot of attention, but I was never really really satisfied with the rendering. There are quite
a few articles all over the internet from various science publishers as well. The resulting beams,
which are today among the fastest microscopes on Earth, oscillate more than a quintillion, or a billion
billion, times per second. Fortunately Takatoshi's time zone wasn't as drastic as Carl's. I am probably
going to play around with this tool for some various creative experimental applications. I also wanted
only important content types on the front page and reduce text copy and paragraph descriptions next
to nothing. Insights from studying the condensate could help us better understand superconductors. I
used Illustrator and Photoshop to incorporate the labels and composite the overall layout.
Microintegrated Optics for Advance Bioimaging and Control (aka MOABC) needed a lab shot with
Ralph for their website. So I talked to Mike Paige from the Computing team at JILA about helping
me with this project. I did all the line work in Illustrator using the SSR Method and then used
Photoshop for the final touches and layout. Mike really made the search function pretty robust and
reliable (I believe he used Apache Solr search ) and we spent a lot of time playing and testing it. The
Fellows and faculty were very receptive to our design and development proposal that Mike and I
presented at the committee meeting, and we got full approval to pursue the web redesign project.
Those weren't held at normal business hours due to extreme locations we were all physically at.
Others, like Jun Ye, are using lasers to cool clouds of atoms to just a millionth of a degree above
absolute zero with the goal of collecting better measurements of natural phenomena. I strongly
believe that JILA is on a good track with its website presence's and utilizing Drupal's CMS as a tool
for both outside and internal communications. The web project is still under development with only
two people solving the bugs, but progress continues.
I then used Illustrator and Indesign for the layout. At this point I was about to pull out my hair
because if I couldn't get the pdf version to work properly, then the whole project was in jeopardy. I
am probably going to play around with this tool for some various creative experimental applications.
Her PECASE award is funded by the Department of Commerce. Mike really made the search
function pretty robust and reliable (I believe he used Apache Solr search ) and we spent a lot of time
playing and testing it. She is one of 16 fellows selected this year from 100 applicants from 50
universities. Production Notes: I work with a lot different 3D environments and softwares, but I
typically avoided using POV-Ray. Florian requested a schematic of their experiment setup to help
explain the process how the Jun Ye group performs tomography on a supersonic expansion. It was
published June 2009, but I just recently found the article was finally published. Carl was around for
a day before heading off to Europe, so I quickly started going over the materials with Carl. But
under special circumstances, they can pair up to form particles with integer spin, which are bosons. I
also want to give special thanks to Julie Fiore from JILA for her help with giving me a quick crash
course with PyMol. More than 650 alumni and guests from 38 states and six countries, including
Denmark, France and Romania, will participate in the weekend-long festivities. In this strong-light
limit, we can also use interferometers as a nonlinear medium to manipulate light. Creative Direction,
Inc., a business that serves the themed entertainment industry and the museum world. Like pushing a
pendulum, that laser beam starts the atoms “ticking,” causing them to oscillate between energy levels
at a rate of quadrillions of times per second. Various third party links may require a subscription

well until we all realized that GNUplot was rendering the surface plots kinda oddly at certain
perspectives. The book is published by Harvard University Press and is now available on their
website and on Amazon. I am hoping to incorporate this imaging tool for various future projects. I
was pretty stressed about how I was going to manage all these projects at once and they ALL had
really tight deadlines. In 2001 she earned her BA in physics from Lawrence and was awarded a
Hertz Foundation fellowship for her subsequent graduate studies at the University of Colorado. I
also wanted only important content types on the front page and reduce text copy and paragraph
descriptions next to nothing. There are quite a few articles all over the internet from various science
publishers as well. It made me more confident to build things just to explore. I used Illustrator and
Photoshop to incorporate the labels and composite the overall layout. Even though these factors were
daunting at the beginning of the project, I was super excited about it. I like VMD, but I found its
interface and functions to be difficult to use (it is an older piece of software). The Fellows and
faculty were very receptive to our design and development proposal that Mike and I presented at the
committee meeting, and we got full approval to pursue the web redesign project.
More than 20 years ago, the physicist was part of the team that invented these lasers when he was a
postdoctoral scientist at JILA—at first, researchers used them to count out the ticking in atomic
clocks. I worked closely with JILA Fellows Jun Ye and Ana Maria Rey who asked me prepare a
rendering for their paper they published in Science. I always have open mind and ear for anybody
who wants to do something new and different: ) Science paper titled: Suppression of Collisional
Shifts in a Strongly Interacting Lattice Clock. I also discovered that it could render out some
beautiful renderings without necessary having to port data model to Maya which help save me a lot
of time in my work-flow (when compared to my work-flow with VMD and Maya). It brought me
around to how much a first grader doesn’t know. I think it is an artist's conception of RNA. (ill find
out which studio rendered that image eventually and update this posting) Regardless I wanted to
attempt making a visual for the cover based on the data that was used for the inserts. This frontier
aims to control single atoms, and even molecules, by individual catching and manipulation, often in
tiny focused laser beams referred to as optical tweezers. I still wanted to export the model data from
PyMol and incorporate Maya, and PyMol made this much easier than VMD. I also want to make a
special mention about Takatoshi's contribution with helping with GNUplot surface plots and being
available during that Saturday and Sunday to trouble shoot the graphics outputs from GNUplot with
me. Her pioneering research has been highly-cited, and earned a CO-Labs Governor's Award for
high-impact research in 2016. Prior to ABLE, she served as a support and therapy group coordinator
for the Counseling Center of Milwaukee. The POV-Ray model data files were Seth Rittenhouse's.
Carl was around for a day before heading off to Europe, so I quickly started going over the materials
with Carl. But they’re a lot more flexible: Qubits can take on values of zero or one, like normal bits,
but they can also exist in a ghostlike state, or “superposition,” of zero and one at the same time. So I
arranged my project queue based on deadline and prioritized importance. The grant is part of the
Department of the Navy’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) outreach
programs. I thought cover image they used was pretty eye catching and will probably help promote
their book sales. I worked with him before, so it was nice to have another project working and
talking to him about his latest work with Konrad. Since defending her dissertation in 2006, she has
enjoyed a short project in the condensed matter group of Dr. Konrad Lehnert at JILA. Sadly this will
probably be my last JILA Fellow portrait shoot: ( Setting and shooting pictures of the JILA and
NIST Fellows always proved to be an intriguing task. In this microscopic world, electrons can exist
in several places at the same time. This particular communication setup initially opened up some
logistic barriers, but I carefully figured out my game plan, and how we were all going to stay
connected and work through this. I guess now I have to have find new subjects to shoot in NYC.
Her PECASE award is funded by the Department of Commerce. Physicists hope that further
research with such condensates eventually will help unlock the mysteries of high-temperature
superconductivity, a phenomenon with the potential to improve energy efficiency dramatically across
a broad range of applications. Optical tweezers deploy laser beams to carefully move around and
arrange those atoms. Scientists can then build complex lattices made up of atoms, carefully
controlling how they interact with each other. Here, he explains some of the most important, and
strangest, concepts in quantum physics. Julie has been updating the content on the main JILA
website for Precision Optical Frequency Metrology section, and she thought it would be a good idea
to get some photos of Ti:S crystal and optical frequency comb laser setup for the website and other
potential future uses. My goal was to make the interface clear and transparent so the user would
explore the content more freely BUT also never feel lost with navigation and search features. It was
great to see someone who wasn’t afraid to go for it and just see what you can measure.
The layout and design for previous years of the NIST Annual Report (Physics Laboratory) were
pretty amateurishly designed, and I offered to assist with this year's design. For more detailed
information regarding the University of Colorado policies, please read the Discrimination and
Harassment Policy and Procedures. When the band plays fast music, many dancers pair up and move
together in a coordinated way (Figure 2). The only problem was that Carl was going to be in Europe
during the project and Takatoshi was in Austin, Texas. Hrovat, Weston T. Borden, and W. Carl
Lineberger, Angewandte Chemie Int. Ed. English 48, 8381 (2009). The PECASE awards are the
highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers in the early
stages of their careers. I guess now I have to have find new subjects to shoot in NYC. It comes in a
wide variety of colors making it suitable in situations ranging from cosplay conventions to a formal
night out. I then used Illustrator and Indesign for the layout. He mentioned that files I was working
with took 1.5 weeks to process (pure continuous processing on a pretty fast computer cluster at JILA
(i think)). Insights from studying the condensate could help us better understand superconductors.
Everything was going well until we all realized that GNUplot was rendering the surface plots kinda
oddly at certain perspectives. I originally thought I was going to have to do some laser trace
photography, but that method was shot down very quickly after a fair warning from John that some
parts of the laser arrangement were actually potentially dangerous. Various third party links may

Prior to ABLE, she served as a support and therapy group coordinator for the Counseling Center of
Milwaukee. I like VMD, but I found its interface and functions to be difficult to use (it is an older
piece of software). With the condensate, you can just change its parameters by tuning a knob. For
everybody else, yes it is rather complicated to explain, but JILA will be doing a research highlight
this winter and I recommend reading that to get a general audience version of the research details
and visuals (again check back for updated links). I think it came out pretty well and everybody
seemed pretty happy with the end results. Row 2 details the vibrational excitation and the specific
areas of the molecule that vibrate. Ultimately, they’re not like any of the “classical” physics humans
encounter during our day-to-day lives. The idea was just weird enough that I had to do it. Subscribe

JILA Research Highlight article. I made a black verison and a white version for Science to choose
between. Fortunately the people over at NIST hired another designer team to work solely on the
print layout of the NIST Annual Report. Physics Today has a pretty wide circulation and some
pretty amazing past cover imagery. It is this second, more subtle form of condensation that has been
observed in the current experiments. Some of our other work leads to platforms for building up a
quantum computer. Her group is also exploring quantum processing using optical tweezers that hold
and control individual neutral rubidium-87 atoms. The Regal Lab collaborates with the Lehnert Lab
to study transduction between microwave and optical signals—work that is important for future
quantum-based communications.
Notably, a beam of light is made up of many, many photons, just like a dollar is made up of many
pennies. Consequently, to a physicist even the term—fermionic condensate—is almost an oxymoron.
There wasn't really a lot of room and I was basically balancing ontop of a ladder with a tripod trying
to get a steady shot in a dark room. The Journal of Physical Chemistry A did a special cover and
preface issue where they did a tribute W. Essentially they were lightening round photo shoots where
I would setup my lights and explore the newly built lab. Optical tweezers deploy laser beams to
carefully move around and arrange those atoms. Scientists can then build complex lattices made up
of atoms, carefully controlling how they interact with each other. Both the condensate and the
superconductor consist of fermion pairs that bond weakly to each other to form what’s known as
Cooper pairs. The pdf versions were extremely important in order to get visuals in a scientifically
correct format (color mappings, vector contours, etc) that I could correct for the optical discrepancies
with my other graphic software. Both properties of the system cannot be precisely known or
measured at the same time. I never used GaussView before, so I had to install the software on my
machines, quickly read the manual, and crash through some quick tests to make sure I was going to
be able to use the software for my workflow. My goal was to make the interface clear and
transparent so the user would explore the content more freely BUT also never feel lost with
navigation and search features. Everything was going well until we all realized that GNUplot was
rendering the surface plots kinda oddly at certain perspectives. I was getting frustrated with not
being able to move around the setup easily, but in the end I got some pretty awesome shots that I am
content with. She is currently developing laser-based techniques for controlling single neutral atoms
and exploring the creation of tiny quantum gases whose atoms can be individually manipulated. It
gave me some perspective about how you teach and explain your work. I used Illustrator and
Photoshop for layout and vector line work. In those experiments, a time-varying magnetic field was
applied to fermionic atoms that forced them to combine into bosonic molecules. I am probably going
to play around with this tool for some various creative experimental applications. John dropped by
my JILA office a few times for a few discussions (its nice that NIST is only few blocks down the
road from JILA). Thesis watches come with a beautiful sapphire crystal display and sturdy genuine
leather straps. But if you also install one of these tools in a telescope on the ground, Diddams said, it
can act almost like a ruler for light waves. Carl's cover project had the most immediate deadline, so I
hyperfocused on his project. I learned how to teach phonics, and how they teach math, these days.
We discussed several ideas and processes, but there were some factors that I had work around. It is
this second, more subtle form of condensation that has been observed in the current experiments.
Florian requested a schematic of their experiment setup to help explain the process how the Jun Ye
group performs tomography on a supersonic expansion. I was honored to have a opportunity to
contribute to Jun's and Ana Maria's paper before I left Colorado to move to NYC, and I look
forward to following the future progress of research coming out of JILA. They build off decades of
work by Nobel laureates Jan Hall, Dave Wineland and Eric Cornell and Carl Wieman. This magnetic
field change can create molecules, but was too fast to create a molecular BEC, as previously shown.
It made me more confident to build things just to explore.
