Doors, hoods, tailgates and fenders account for a large part of the visual im-
pression of any automobile, and for that reason already are largely respon-
sible for a vehicles character and consequently highly important in car body
development. The Automotive Circle International conference on „Doors and
Closures in Car Body Engineering“ again addresses current engineering solu-
tions and trends in car body hang-on part development and production:
\\ Due to their high surface area, the use of lightweight materials in the outer
skin as well as the inner structure of hang-on parts has a high impact on
vehicle weight savings.
\\ In innovative car body structures, hang-on parts, especially doors, increas-
ingly account for crash-relevant load paths.
\\ In an extremely confined space, a growing diversity of functions has to be
smoothly integrated – from passive and active safety systems to infotain-
ment elements. Award 2012
\\ Hang-on parts are often built on separate production lines, which need to
be optimally incorporated in the total vehicle production process.
\\ An increasing number of vehicle variants as well as globally harmonised Doors and Closures Innovation Award

90-minute Focus-Workshops, addressing special topics within the field
of hang-on part engineering and moderated by renowned experts in that
particular topic, constitute a particular highlight of the conference. As a

Live polls on site
During the two conference days, live polls will be held via an automated
vote system among the auditorium on some key questions, taking the op-
portunity to gain some insight into the considerations of the conference
audience, which, as an assembly of international doors and closures engi-
neers, represents a unique body of expertise. The results will be displayed
immediately in the conference plenum and also be documented for all the
conference participants. Delegates will also have the possibility to address

Fees will be refunded in full if notice of can-
cellation is received by 16 October 2012.
50 % of the conference fees will be refunded
in case notification of cancellation is received
later, but not later than 30 October 2012. Del-
egates who fail to attend without notifying the
organiser will be liable for the whole confer-
ence fees. Substitutions of delegates may be
made at any time. Cancellations and changes
should be notified in writing. In all cases date
of postmark shall apply. Any fees to be refund-
ed will be paid after the end of the conference.
The organiser reserves the right to change the
programme content or to cancel the event due
to important reasons. Cancellation fees of
third parties that may appear in this context
will not be reimbursed.
