Policy

Nelson Mandela University POSTGRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP: 2023

The qualifications considered for this Scholarship are Advance Diplomas, and PG Certificates
that are offered fulltime.
No Application is required as students are identified by using the Applicable Rules/Criteria.

• The award is an once-off amount valid for the academic year 2023 and capped at a maximum
of R35,000.
• Priority is given to the payment of Tuition costs. If there is a balance thereafter, then
allowances to the maximum of R7,000 (once-off amount) can be allocated.
• The award does not cover accommodation costs.

The following criteria applies:

• that you are a South African citizen
• that it is your first registration at this level of study
• that you register as a full-time postgraduate student

Should the student have interrupted studies of more than 2 years or Transferring from
another HEI, then a further age criteria is applicable:
• The student must not be turning older than 27 years of age in the 2023 academic year
• The student must submit their latest academic results and qualification certificate to Financial
Aid

Students that receive the Staff Discount are not entitled to receive the POSTGRADUATE
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP award.

You may use this award to register for your qualification.

Please note, that should you cancel your registration; the bursary will be withdrawn or
adjusted accordingly as follows:

• 100% of the amount will be reversed, if cancelled before the end of the first semester
• 50% of the amount will be reversed if cancelled before the end of the second
semester

This award is regarded as a first payment towards your fees.

Please note that this award will be regarded as additional to other rewards received, i.e.
should you receive another bursary/scholarship of R10 000, the university will top up to the
award amount aforementioned.
