SVQ Level 3 – Common knowledge

Communication

This is a planning sheet with a structure to enable you to keep your work
focused on the common knowledge points that occur across several units.

Whilst these only details knowledge points from the core/mandatory units, the
equivalent points from the optional units can also be linked to this.

You may choose to stick rigidly to this template, or you may use it as a
platform to develop your work into something that flows more fluently.

Ideally you should type your answers to each question as this will allow you
sufficient space as the spaces will enlarge automatically as you type.

Please provide as detailed answers as possible to each question and part.

If someone wanted to make a complaint against the care they received or
against me or the company I would

-Adult social care services should expect to receive regular feedback


including concerns and complaint raised by the people you support you
should actively seek feedback whether good or bad to help confirm what
is going well and areas for improvement.

Equality means#

-Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same


resources and opportunities, regarless of their circumstances.

Diversity means

-Respecting the difference between people and treating people’s values,


beliefs, cultures and lifestyles with respect

Discrimination means
-The different treatment of an individual or group of people based on
their color, race , national origin , region , sex ( pregnancy or gender
identity), age , marital or parental satus, disability, sexual orientation.

Human Rights are

-Basic rights and freedoms that that belong to every person from birth
until death. They apply regardless of where you came from , what you
beliebe and how you choose to live your life..

An example of how I apply these at work is treat every individual

-As same as you treat your important person to your life like you grand
mother, parents or son or daughter. Treat with respect and dignity.

My role in supporting people’s rights and in promoting well-being is

-By giving an advice on what could I help to resolve their problem.

Why is it important to take account of people’s culture and language?

-To tell how they think , whats their belief and how they see the world in
that way you respect their perspectives.

If I found that someone was obstructing someone’s rights or discriminating
against them,

- I would talk to the person involve , who experience the discrimination if


they want your aid or or if they want you to report it.

An example of how I give people choices ,

- When support individual to make her decision by showing all the options
like which soup she want for the day.

An example of when I have encouraged people to take an active part

-By encouraging them to do their exercises provided by the


physiotherapist for them to regain the strength that they need.U+0020

I have read the Code of Practice and I feel that the most important code for
me is

-As a social service worker, I must protect and promote the rights and
interests of people who use services and carers.

The reason I feel this is the most important is because

-we have to Respect and maintain the dignity and privacy of people who
use services.

At work, I have different standards and frameworks which I must follow.

The care that I provided are the same in every individual for them to feel
my intention is genuineness.

 Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their


duties or delegated task.
 Monitoring employee productovity and providing
constructivefeedback and coaching.

company’s plan and vision

Trust is very important and I build trust with my service-users by

-Listening to them , your attention is not divided. I need to have


connection to them so I can understand what are they need.

How and where can you access information and support that can inform your
knowledge and practice about communication with individuals, key people
and others?

-Before we start one service user, managers or team leaders reviewed


and visit clients all information was documented in our one passforce
application. We access the information, detials, medical history and new
communication with confidentiality in one passforce.

How do you find out about individuals’ communication preferences and
needs?

-Start and attempt to have a conversation with them. How they prefer to
communcate.

Describe how communication differences and difficulties can affect the
identity, self-esteem and self-image of individuals.

-Difficulty in expressing themselves causes them frustration, isolation or


even more be agitated.

Describe some the methods, extra support and specific aids that can help to
promote communication between you and the people you care for.

-There is lots of ways how to communicate and connect other than


speech, these are gestures, sign language, by touching, sounds, objects,
pictures moreover with the help of aids such as hearing aids.

How do you arrange environments and position yourself to make sure that
you maximise communication and interaction with the people you care for?

-Sitting directly in front of him and using lots of expression and


intonation in my voice much preferably hod their hands while you are
talking to ensure and let them feel that you are ready and always
listening.

If you have difficult complex or sensitive issues to communicate, what sort of
environment is best for this to take place?

-Make sure the environment is calm and quiet setting that the service
user which I support is comfortable and relaxed.

Where, why and how do you get permission to access records and reports?

-In our one passforce appilication all records of our service user however
we communcate / report to our line manager to keep updated all the
records.
