ABSTRACT

Background: Early childhood caries (ECC) is the most common childhood disease and is often affecting the quality
of life of children. An optimal restoration should have better durability, ease of handling, be aesthetically acceptable,
and be cost effective. There have been many options for full coverage restoration of deciduous teeth, each with
technical, functional, or aesthetic limitations. Nowadays, aesthetics play an important role in managing decayed teeth,
and children need treatment that includes full coverage crowns, in particular bioflex. Aim: The aim of this article is
to asses evaluation clinical performance of bioflex crowns in pediatric dentistry. Mini Review: Pediatric treatment is
challenging in patients with early childhood caries. It is difficult due to the adjacency of pulp, miniature tooth size,
and thin enamel compared to permanent dentition. Various materials have been used to extensively treat carious
primary teeth, and recently developed Bioflex crown. The Bioflex crowns are highly flexible and aesthetically
preformed pediatric crowns with combined stainless steel and zirconia properties. The clinical evaluation of Bioflex
crowns based on durability, flexibility and self adaptability at different time intervals of three months, six months and
12 months follow-up is better than other preformed crown,. Conclusion: The Bioflex crown will be a smart option
for pediatric tooth-coloured crowns as a better aesthetic substitute for the future.
