In the small town of Lopez, Quezon, there is an incident on the evening of June 16, 2023, a 9 year old girl named Alyana in distress. The matter was reported the next morning at 7:00 AM when Ricco, the 18 years old brother of the victim, along with Alyana and Arlen, a family member and witness, walked into the local police station to narrate a physical abuse happened. The victim, Alyana, born on October 30, 2009, was a Grade 3 student residing in Brgy. Rosario, Lopez, Quezon. The suspect, Ricco, a student and residing in the same barangay, was born on March 20, 2005. One night, at around 8:30 PM, inside their home, a dispute arose as Alyana used her cellphone. Suddenly, Ricco, her brother, took the device from her. Get angry as Alyana accused by her brother of taking pocket money. The situation leads to a violent action from Ricco. He allegedly slapped and punched Alyana's face. The distressed child seeks for help, as Janrick, the another sibling, called the Barangay Tanod for assistance. The local authorities responded, bringing the suspect, Ricco, to the police station. As a result of the incident, Alyana was left injured, a victim of domestic abuse. Ricco, on the other hand, found himself arrested and facing potential legal consequences for his actions. Photo # 2- Ejectment; demolition of informal settlers, squatting syndicates. In the city of Lucena, on May 18, 2022, there are incident led to the arrest of a group of individuals involved in illegal squatting. The victim and complainant, Adrian Lozano, represented by Rodel Klano, discovered the illegal construction activity on Mr. Lozano’s land at Brgy Hilagang Maya, Lucena City. Adrian Lozano, a 57-year-old engineer residing at Brgy. Poblacion 4, Sariaya Quezon, had become aware of the illegal construction on his property. In response, Rodel Klano and Jayson Padillo conducted an inspection of the said land at around 9:30 AM on the same date. During their inspection, they saw a group of suspects engaged in the illegal construction of a house on Mr. Lozano's land. The suspects were identified as Nonito, Bonggot Jr., Edilito, Allan, Carlito, Berlito, Norma, and Risalyn. Upon confronting the suspects, Rodel Klano and Jayson Padillo ask for documents or authorization for building a house on the property. However, none of the suspects could provide. In connection with this the representatives called for police assistance. The suspects were apprehended and turned over to the police station. The arrest was made under the charges of violating RA 8368, also known as the "Anti-Squatting Law Repeal Act of 1997." Photo #3 Robbery, rape, physical abuse, domestic violence by partner In Municipal of Infanta, Quezon, there was a domestic dispute between two partners, Daven and Ethel. Days before the incident, the couple engaged in a heated argument over their tricycle. The quarrel quietly stops, but the dispute escalated into a violent confrontation on the morning of January 12, 2024. The situation reached a breaking point as Daven, a 27- year-old unemployed college graduate, physically assaulted Ethel Joy Esteban Solano, a 26-year-old storekeeper with a vocational degree. It was revealed that this was not the first instance of abuse. The night before, on January 11, 2024, a similar incident occurred, but Ethel chose not to report it, hoping that the issue would resolve itself. However, same situation of violence repeatedly happened, that’s why she seeks help from the authorities. On January 12, 2024, at 12:30 in the afternoon, Ethel personally appeared at the Infanta MPS to file a formal complaint against Daven. It was being reported in the morning when their argument led into physical violence. Daven's aggression left Ethel with visible bruises. Now as status of the case it’s now preparing a filed case against Daven for the violation of RA 9262 (Physical Abuse). The Infanta Municipal Police Station vowed to file the case at the office of the Assistant Provincial Prosecutor in Infanta, Quezon. Photo # 4- Syndicated estafa; robbery; smuggling On November 12, 2023, Layka, a 25-year-old resident of Tagaytay, Cavite, engage in online transaction. Roy, a high school graduate currently jobless, was tempted by an online seller named Garry, a 29-year-old residing in Brgy Norte, Candelaria, Quezon. Garry, using her charm, convinced Layka to enter into an agreement to buy an iPhone worth Php 18,000. As a down payment, Layka agreed. However, this wasn't the end of their connection. Garry, taking advantage, also borrowed money from Layka, promising to repay the amount within one week. The money amounted to about 35,000.00, with an additional 8,000.00 as interest. The agreement, after a week, Garry would both send the ordered iPhone and settle her debt to Layka. However, Layka received it without the ordered iPhone and without the promised payment. Despite Layka’s efforts to resolve by sending a demand letter, Garry has no reply. That’s why Layka decided. On January 16, 2024, she appeared at the local police station and filed a complaint of Estafa against Garry. The case details were documented, and a criminal complaint for the crime of Estafa was duly prepared by the police station. As of the latest update, Garry, along with three other individuals involved in the syndicated estafa, is currently arrested. PHOTO # 5 – illegal drug-pot session; illegal gambling; gang war In the dawn of January 27, 2024, the quiet Brgy. Lusacan, Tiaong, Quezon, became the setting for a planned Drug Buy-bust Operation led by the Drug Enforcement Unit of Tiaong Municipal Police Station, under the command of PMAJ AGAHAN, Chief Intel. The operation focused on High Value Target, Reynaldo Karisa, also known as Rey, residing in Brgy. Amparo, Tiaong, Quezon. Rey, aged 31, a married helper with a high school level education, had become a main target in the illegal drug trade and other involved personalities. As of 1:00 in the morning, the law enforcement officers closed in on their targets. Rey was apprehended in the act of selling a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu. The arrest was carried out professionally. The confiscated items included the marked bill and the suspected shabu. The arrestees, including Rey and other involved personalities, were informed of their constitutional rights, including the Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Warning, before being taken into custody of the Police Station. The recovered evidence, including the seized shabu and marked money, is slated to be turned over to the Quezon Provincial Forensic Unit for further laboratory examination, solidifying the case against the accused and reinforcing the pursuit of justice in the ongoing battle against illegal drugs.
