SURAH BAQARAH (2:284-286)

Sahih International (2:284): To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the
earth. Whether you show what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account
for it. Then He will forgive whom He wills and punish whom He wills, and Allah is over all things
competent.
Sahih International (2:285): The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his
Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His
books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers."
And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the
[final] destination."
Sahih International (2:286): Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity.
It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence
of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or
erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us.
Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and
forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the
disbelieving people."
Yusuf Ali (2:284): The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as
do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His
messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers."
And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the
end of all journeys."
Yusuf Ali (2:285): To Allah belonged all that is in the heavens and on earth. Whether ye show
what is in your mind or conceal it, Allah Calleth you to account for it. He forgives whom He
pleased, and punishes whom He pleased, for Allah hath power over all things.
Yusuf Ali (2:286): On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every
good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we
forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on
those before us, Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot
out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us
against those who stand against faith."
Arberry(2:284): To God belongs all that is in the heavers and earth. Whether you publish what
is in your hearts or hide it, God shall make reckoning with you for it. He will forgive whom He
will, and chastise whom He will; God is powerful over everything.
Arberry(2:285): The Messenger believes in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and the
believers; each one believes in God and His angels, and in His Books and His Messengers; we
make no division between any one of His Messengers. They say, 'We hear, and obey. Our Lord,
grant us Thy forgiveness; unto Thee is the homecoming.'
Arberry(2:286): God charges no soul saves to its capacity; standing to its account is what it has
earned, and against its account what it has merited. Our Lord, take us not to ask if we forget, or
make mistakes. Our Lord: charge us not with a load such as Thou didst lay upon those before
us. Our Lord, do Thou not burden us beyond what we have the strength to bear. And pardon us,
and forgive us, and have mercy on us; Thou art our Protector. And help us against the people of
the unbelievers.
 SURAH AL-INAM (6:152-154)

Sahih International (6:152): And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is
best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge
any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it
concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you
may remember.

Sahih International (6:153): And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and
do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you
that you may become righteous.
Sahih International (6:154): Then We gave Moses the Scripture, making complete [Our favor]
upon the one who did good and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and
mercy that perhaps in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord they would believe.

Yusuf Ali(6:152): And come not nigh to the orphan's property, except to improve it, until he
attain the age of full strength; give measure and weight with (full) justice;- no burden do We
place on any soul, but that which it can bear;- whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near
relative is concerned; and fulfil the covenant of Allah: thus doth He command you, that ye may
remember.
Yusuf Ali (6:153): Verily, this is My way, leading straight: follow it: follow not (other) paths: they
will scatter you about from His (great) path: thus, doth He command you. that ye may be
righteous.

Yusuf Ali (6:154): Moreover, We gave Moses the Book, completing (Our favour) to those who
would do right, and explaining all things in detail, - and a guide and a mercy, that they might
believe in the meeting with their Lord.

Arberry (6:152): And that you approach not the property of the orphan, save in the fairer
manner, until he is of age. And fill up the measure and the balance with justice. We charge not
any soul save to its capacity. And when you speak, be just, even if it should be to a near
kinsman. And fulfil God's covenant. That then He has charged you with; haply you will
remember.

Arberry (6:153): And that this is My path, straight; so, do you follow it, and follow not divers
paths lest they scatter you from His path. That then He has charged you with; haply you will be
God fearing.'

Arberry (6:154): Then We gave Moses the Book, complete for him who does good, and
distinguishing everything, and as a guidance and a mercy; haply they would believe in the
encounter with their Lord.

SURAH MU’MINOON (23:1-11)

Sahih International (23:1): Certainly, will the believers have succeeded:
Sahih International (23:2): They who are during their prayer humbly submissive.
Sahih International (23:3): And they who turn away from ill speech.
Sahih International (23:4): And they who are observant of zakat.
Sahih International (23:5): And they who guard their private parts.
Sahih International (23:6): Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for
indeed, they will not be blamed.
Sahih International (23:7): But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.
Sahih International (23:8): And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive.
Sahih International (23:9): And they who carefully maintain their prayers.
Sahih International (23:10): Those are the inheritors.
Sahih International (23:11): Who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally.

Yusuf Ali (23:1): The believers must (eventually) win through, -

Yusuf Ali (23:2): Those who humble themselves in their prayers.
Yusuf Ali (23:3): Who avoid vain talk.
Yusuf Ali (23:4): Who are active in deeds of charity.
Yusuf Ali (23:5): Who abstain from sex,
Yusuf Ali (23:6): Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom
their right hands possess, - for (in their case) they are free from blame,
Yusuf Ali (23:7): But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors; -
Yusuf Ali (23:8): Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants.
Yusuf Ali (23:9): And who (strictly) guard their prayers; -
Yusuf Ali (23:10): These will be the heirs,
Yusuf Ali (23:11): Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever).

Arberry (23:1): Prosperous are the believers.

Arberry (23:2): who in their prayers are humble.
Arberry (23:3): and from idle talk turn away
Arberry (23:4): and at almsgiving are active.
Arberry (23:5): and guard their private parts.
Arberry (23:6): save from their wives and what their right hands own then being not
blameworthy.
Arberry (23:7): (but whosoever seeks after more than that, those are the transgressors)
Arberry (23:8): and who preserve their trusts and their covenant.
Arberry (23:9): and who observe their prayers.
Arberry (23:10): Those are the inheritors.
Arberry (23:11): who shall inherit Paradise therein dwelling forever.

SURAH FURQAN (25:63-77)

Sahih International (25:63): And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon
the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,
Sahih International (25:64): And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating
and standing [in prayer]
Sahih International (25:65): And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of
Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering.
Sahih International (25:66): Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence."
Sahih International (25:67): And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively
or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate.
Sahih International (25:68): And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the
soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful
sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
Sahih International (25:69): Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection,
and he will abide therein humiliated –
Sahih International (25:70): Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For
them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
Sahih International (25:71): And he who repents and does righteousness does indeed turn to
Allah with [accepted] repentance.
Sahih International (25:72): And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood, and when
they pass near ill speech, they pass by with dignity.
Sahih International (25:73): And those who, when reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not
fall upon them deaf and blind.
Sahih International (25:74): And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and
offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous."
Sahih International (25:75): Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently
endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace.
Sahih International (25:76): Abiding eternally therein. Good is the settlement and residence.
Sahih International (25:77): Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your
supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have denied, so your denial is going to be adherent.

Yusuf Ali (25:63): And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in
humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!";
Yusuf Ali (25:64): Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing.
Yusuf Ali (25:65): Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is
indeed an affliction grievous, -
Yusuf Ali (25:66): "Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in";
Yusuf Ali (25:67): Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold
a just (balance) between those (extremes);
Yusuf Ali (25:68): Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah
has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not
only) meets punishment.
Yusuf Ali (25:69): (But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will
dwell therein in ignominy, -
Yusuf Ali (25:70): Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change
the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,
Yusuf Ali (25:71): And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an
(acceptable) conversion; -
Yusuf Ali (25:72): Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it
with honourable (avoidance);
Yusuf Ali (25:73): Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop
not down at them as if they were deaf or blind.
Yusuf Ali (25:74): And those who pray, "Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will
be the comfort of our eyes and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous."
Yusuf Ali (25:75): Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven,
because of their patient constancy: therein shall they be met with salutations and peace,
Yusuf Ali (25:76): Dwelling therein; - how beautiful an abode and place of rest!
Yusuf Ali (25:77): Say (to the Rejecters): "My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on
Him: But ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!"

Arberry (25:63): The servants of the All-merciful are those who walk in the earth modestly and
who, when the ignorant address them, say, 'Peace';
Arberry (25:64): who pass the night prostrate to their Lord and standing.
Arberry (25:65): who say, 'Our Lord, turn Thou from us the chastisement of Gehenna; surely its
chastisement is torment most terrible.
Arberry (25:66): evil it is as a lodging-place and an abode';
Arberry (25:67): who, when they expend, are neither prodigal nor parsimonious, but between
that is a just stand.
Arberry (25:68): who call not upon another god with God, nor slay the soul God has forbidden
except by right, neither fornicate, for whosoever does that shall meet the price.
Arberry (25:69): of sin-doubled shall be the chastisement for him on the Resurrection Day, and
he shall dwell therein humbled,
Arberry (25:70): save him who repents, and believes, and does righteous work -- those, God will
change their evil deeds into good deeds, for God is ever All-forgiving, All-compassionate.
Arberry (25:71): and whosoever repents, and does righteousness, he truly turns to God in
repentance.
Arberry (25:72): And those who bear not false witness and, when they pass by idle talk, pass by
with dignity.
Arberry (25:73): who, when they are reminded of the signs of their Lord, fall not down there at
deaf and blind;
Arberry (25:74): who say, 'Our Lord, give us refreshment of our wives and seed, and make us a
model to the Godfearing.'
Arberry (25:75): Those shall be recompensed with the highest heaven, for that they endured
patiently, and they shall receive therein a greeting and --' Peace!'
Arberry (25:76): Therein they shall dwell forever; fair it is as a lodging-place and an abode.
Arberry (25:77): Say: 'My Lord esteems you not at all were it not for your prayer, for you have
cried lies, and it shall surely be fastened.'

SURAH AHZAB (33:6, 21, 40, 56, 57, 58)

Sahih International (33:6): The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves, and
his wives are [in the position of] their mothers. And those of [blood] relationship are more
entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah than the [other] believers and the emigrants,
except that you may do to your close associates a kindness [through bequest]. That was in the
Book inscribed.
Sahih International (33:21): There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an
excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers
Allah often.
Sahih International (33:40): Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is]
the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah , of all things, Knowing.
Sahih International (33:56): Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels
[ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask
[Allah to grant him] peace.
Sahih International (33:57): Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger - Allah has
cursed them in this world and the Hereafter and prepared for them a humiliating punishment.
Sahih International (33:58): And those who harm believing men and believing women for
[something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander
and manifest sin.

Yusuf Ali (33:6): The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are
their mothers. Blood-relations among each other have closer personal ties, in the Decree of
Allah. Then (the Brotherhood of) Believers and Muhajirs: nevertheless, do ye what is just to
your closest friends: such is the writing in the Decree (of Allah).
Yusuf Ali (33:21): Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for
any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah.
Yusuf Ali (33:40): Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of
Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things.
Yusuf Ali (33:56): Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye
blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.
Yusuf Ali (33:57): Those who annoy Allah and His Messenger - Allah has cursed them in this
World and in the Hereafter and has prepared for them a humiliating Punishment.
Yusuf Ali (33:58): And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly, bear (on
themselves) a calumny and a glaring sin.

Arberry (33:6): The Prophet is nearer to the believers than their selves; his wives are their
mothers. Those who are bound by blood are nearer to one another in the Book of God than the
believers and the emigrants; nevertheless, you should act towards your friends honourably;
that stands inscribed in the Book.
Arberry (33:21): You have had a good example in God's Messenger for whosoever hopes for
God and the Last Day and remembers God oft.
Arberry (33:40): Muhammad is not the father of any one of your men, but the Messenger of
God, and the Seal of the Prophets; God has knowledge of everything.
Arberry (33:56): God and His angels bless the Prophet. O believers, do you also bless him, and
pray him peace.
Arberry (33:57): Those who hurt God and His Messenger -- them God has cursed in the present
world and the world to come and has prepared for them a humbling chastisement.
Arberry (33:58): And those who hurt believing men and believing women, without that they
have earned it, have laid upon themselves calumny and manifest sin.
SURAH HUJRAT (49:1-18)
Sahih International (49:1): O you who have believed, do not put [yourselves] before Allah and
His Messenger but fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
Sahih International (49:2): O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice
of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your
deeds become worthless while you perceive not.
Sahih International (49:3): Indeed, those who lower their voices before the Messenger of Allah
- they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for righteousness. For them is forgiveness and
great reward.

Sahih International (49:4): Indeed, those who call you, [O Muhammad], from behind the
chambers - most of them do not use reason.

Sahih International (49:5): And if they had been patient until you [could] come out to them, it
would have been better for them. But Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Sahih International (49:6): O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one
with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what
you have done, regretful.

Sahih International (49:7): And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to
obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty, but Allah has endeared to you the
faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to your disbelief, defiance
and disobedience. Those are the [rightly] guided.
Sahih International (49:8): [It is] as bounty from Allah and favor. And Allah is Knowing and
Wise.
Sahih International (49:9): And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make
settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one
that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah. And if it returns, then make settlement
between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
Sahih International (49:10): The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your
brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.
Sahih International (49:11): O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another]
people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps
they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by
[offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever
does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
Sahih International (49:12): O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption.
Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like
to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is
Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
Sahih International (49:13): O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female
and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of
you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
Sahih International (49:14): The Bedouins say, "We have believed." Say, "You have not [yet]
believed; but say [instead], 'We have submitted,' for faith has not yet entered your hearts. And
if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not deprive you from your deeds of anything.
Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
Sahih International (49:15): The believers are only the ones who have believed in Allah and His
Messenger and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of
Allah. It is those who are the truthful.
Sahih International (49:16): Say, "Would you acquaint Allah with your religion while Allah
knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and Allah is Knowing of all
things?"
Sahih International (49:17): They consider it a favor to you that they have accepted Islam. Say,
"Do not consider your Islam a favor to me. Rather, Allah has conferred favor upon you that He
has guided you to the faith, if you should be truthful."
Sahih International (49:18): Indeed, Allah knows the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the
earth. And Allah is Seeing of what you do.
Yusuf Ali (49:1): O Ye who believes! Put not yourselves forward before Allah and His
Messenger; but fear Allah: for Allah is He Who hears and knows all things.
Yusuf Ali (49:2): O ye who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor
speak aloud to him in talk, as ye may speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds become vain
and ye perceive not.

Yusuf Ali(49:3): Those that lower their voices in the presence of Allah's Messenger,- their hearts
has Allah tested for piety: for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward.

Yusuf Ali (49:4): Those who shout out to thee without the inner apartments - most of them lack
understanding.

Yusuf Ali (49:5): If only they had patience until thou couldst come out to them, it would be best
for them: but Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Yusuf Ali (49:6): O ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain
the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what
ye have done.

Yusuf Ali (49:7): And know that among you is Allah's Messenger: were he, in many matters, to
follow your (wishes), ye would certainly fall into misfortune: But Allah has endeared the Faith to
you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you Unbelief,
wickedness, and rebellion: such indeed are those who walk in righteousness.

Yusuf Ali (49:8): A Grace and Favour from Allah; and Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

Yusuf Ali (49:9): If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between
them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other, then fight ye (all)
against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of Allah; but if it complies,
then make peace between them with justice, and be fair: for Allah loves those who are fair (and
just).
Yusuf Ali (49:10): The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation
between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive Mercy.
Yusuf Ali (49:11): O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be
that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be
that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call
each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of
one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.
Yusuf Ali (49:12): O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in
some cases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat
the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear Allah: For Allah is Oft-Returning,
Most Merciful.
Yusuf Ali (49:13): O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and
made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each
other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of
you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).
Yusuf Ali (49:14): The desert Arabs say, "We believe." Say, "Ye have no faith; but ye (only)say,
'We have submitted our wills to Allah,' For not yet has Faith entered your hearts. But if ye obey
Allah and His Messenger, He will not belittle aught of your deeds: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving,
Most Merciful."
Yusuf Ali (49:15): Only those are Believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and
have never since doubted, but have striven with their belongings and their persons in the Cause
of Allah: Such are the sincere ones.
Yusuf Ali (49:16): Say: "What! Will ye instruct Allah about your religion? But Allah knows all that
is in the heavens and on earth: He has full knowledge of all things.
Yusuf Ali (49:17): They impress on thee as a favour that they have embraced Islam. Say, "Count
not your Islam as a favour upon me: Nay, Allah has conferred a favour upon you that He has
guided you to the faith, if ye be true and sincere.
Yusuf Ali (49:18): "Verily Allah knows the secrets of the heavens and the earth: and Allah Sees
well all that ye do."

Arberry (49:1): O believers, advance not before God and His Messenger; and fear God. God is
All-hearing, All-knowing.

Arberry (49:2): O believers, raise not your voices above the Prophet's voice, and be not loud in
your speech to him, as you are loud one to another, lest your works fail while you are not
aware.

Arberry (49:3): Surely those who lower their voices in the presence of God's Messenger, those
are they whose hearts God has tested for godfearing; they shall have forgiveness and a mighty
wage.

Arberry(49:4): Surely those who call unto thee from behind the apartments, the most of them
do not understand.

Arberry (49:5): And if they had patience, until thou comets out to them, that would be better
for them; and God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.

Arberry (49:6): O believers, if an ungodly man comes to you with a tiding, make clear, lest you
afflict a people unwittingly, and then repent of what you have done.

Arberry (49:7): And know that the Messenger of God is among you. If he obeyed you in much of
the affair, you would suffer; but God has endeared to you belief, decking it fair in your hearts,
and He has made detestable to you unbelief and ungodliness and disobedience. Those -- they
are the right-minded,
Arberry (49:8): by God's favour and blessing; God is All-knowing, All-wise.
Arberry (49:9): If two parties of the believers fight, put things right between them; then, if one
of them is insolent against the other, fight the insolent one till it reverts to God's
commandment. If it reverts, set things right between them equitably, and be just. Surely God
loves the just.
Arberry (49:10): The believers indeed are brothers; so set things right between your two
brothers, and fear God; haply so you will find mercy.
Arberry (49:11): O believers, let not any people scoff at another people who may be better than
they; neither let women scoff at women who may be better than themselves. And find not fault
with one another, neither revile one another by nicknames. An evil name is ungodliness after
belief. And whoso repents not, those -- they are the evildoers.
Arberry (49:12): O believers, eschew much suspicion; some suspicion is a sin. And do not spy,
neither backbite one another; would any of you like to eat the flesh of his brother dead? You
would abominate it. And fear you God; assuredly God turns, and He is All-compassionate.
Arberry (49:13): O mankind, We have created you male and female, and appointed you races
and tribes, that you may know one another. Surely the noblest among you in the sight of God is
the most godfearing of you. God is All-knowing, All-aware.
Arberry (49:14): The Bedouins say, 'We believe.' Say: 'You do not believe; rather say, "We
surrender"; for belief has not yet entered your hearts. If you obey God and His Messenger, He
will not diminish you anything of your works. God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.'
Arberry (49:15): The believers are those who believe in God and His Messenger, then have not
doubted, and have struggled with their possessions and their selves in the way of God; those --
they are the truthful ones.
Arberry (49:16): Say: 'What, would you teach God what your religion is, and God knows what is
in the heavens and what is in the earth? And God has knowledge of everything.'
Arberry (49:17): They count it as a favour to thee that they have surrendered! Say: 'Do not
count your surrendering as a favour to me; nay, but rather God confers a favour upon you, in
that He has guided you to belief, if it be that you are truthful.
Arberry (49:18): God knows the Unseen of the heavens and of the earth; and God sees the
things you do.'
 SURAH AL-HASHR (59:18-20)

Sahih International (59:18): O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to
what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you
do.
Sahih International (59:19): And be not like those who forgot Allah , so He made them forget
themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient.
Sahih International (59:20): Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of
Paradise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainers [of success].

Yusuf Ali (59:18): O ye who believe! Fear Allah, and let every soul look to what (provision) He
has sent forth for the morrow. Yea, fear Allah: for Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do.
Yusuf Ali (59:19): And be ye not like those who forgot Allah; and He made them forget their
own souls! Such are the rebellious transgressors!
Yusuf Ali (59:20): Not equal are the Companions of the Fire and the Companions of the Garden:
it is the Companions of the Garden, that will achieve Felicity.

Arberry (59:18): O believers, fear God. Let every soul consider what it has forwarded for the
morrow. And fear God; God is aware of the things you do.
Arberry (59:19): Be not as those who forgot God, and so He caused them to forget their souls;
those -- they are the ungodly.
Arberry (59:20): Not equal are the inhabitants of the Fire and the inhabitants of Paradise. The
inhabitants of Paradise -- they are the triumphant.
 SURAH AL-SAF (61:1 and 14)

Sahih International (61:1): Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts
Allah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Sahih International (61:14): O you who have believed, be supporters of Allah , as when Jesus,
the son of Mary, said to the disciples, "Who are my supporters for Allah ?" The disciples said,
"We are supporters of Allah." And a faction of the Children of Israel believed and a faction
disbelieved. So We supported those who believed against their enemy, and they became
dominant.

Yusuf Ali (61:1): Whatever is in the heavens and on earth, let it declare the Praises and Glory of
Allah: for He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Yusuf Ali (61:14): O ye who believe! Be ye helpers of Allah: As said Jesus the son of Mary to the
Disciples, "Who will be my helpers to (the work of) Allah?" Said the disciples, "We are Allah's
helpers!" then a portion of the Children of Israel believed, and a portion disbelieved: But We
gave power to those who believed, against their enemies, and they became the ones that
prevailed.

Arberry (61:1): All that is in the heavens and the earth magnifies God; He is the All-mighty; the
All-wise.
Arberry (61:14): O believers, be you God's helpers, as Jesus, Mary's son, said to the Apostles.
'Who will be my helpers unto God?' The Apostles said, 'We will be helpers of God.' And a party
of the Children of Israel believed, and a party disbelieved. So We confirmed those who believed
against their enemy, and they became masters.
