MODEL ANSWERS
1. How do you measure the client’s body?
I will ask first what type of garment my client wants. Apply the rules,
procedures, and sequencing when taking client’s body measurements.

2. What is the importance of taking body measurements?

To have an accurate draft layout and to avoid alteration.
3. How can you secure that your area is safe for clients?
Put sharp tools, like scissors and pins in safety box or cabinet when
not in use or when taking the client’s body measurement.
4. How will you take client’s body measurement when s/he has
cough and cold?
I will wear facemask to avoid infection. Provide free facemasks and
rubbing alcohol in the area or shop.
5. How do you dispose worn-out tape measure?
Recycle. I can use it for tying curtains, books, and papers or throw it
in trash bin for non-biodegradable.
6. What should you do if you forgot to get the measurement of one
part of your client’s body?
Read his or her body measurements and compare them to size
standards in XS-over size measurements and copy.
7. What is the best substitute for pattern paper, for tailor’s chalk?
For pattern paper, I will use scratch paper, but tape it first to have a
pattern paper size like. For tailor’s chalk, I will use pencil.
8. Why do circumference measurements need to be divided by 4?
Because when making patterns for casual apparel, I will only draft ¼
size of my client’s blouse and pants.
9. What will you do if meter stick is not available?
I will use ruler and ensure to make dots first so I can still do straight,
long lines for drafting.
10. When taking body measurement, is it advisable to use two
systems of measurement at the same time? Why or why not?
Use only one system of measurement to avoid confusion.
