Essay 13: Stone Tools

Stone tools are among the earliest artifacts created by humans and provide crucial
insights into our ancestors' technological and cultural development. The production
of stone tools, known as lithic technology, varied across different time periods
and regions. Early stone tools, such as simple flakes and choppers, were used by
hominin species like Homo habilis and Homo erectus. The emergence of more refined
tools, such as handaxes and bifacial points, marked the transition to the Middle
Stone Age and the rise of Homo sapiens. Stone tools were essential for hunting,
gathering, and crafting various items and played a significant role in our
ancestors' adaptation and survival.
