Now, let’s read this story about a little girl, Trida and how she makes
a new friend...
MOVING HOME
Little Trida lives in a beautiful valley in the mountain.
She spent most of her time playing with her friends, Whoopy and Goosy.
That day was the last time she was cuddling her two friends.
Continued...
The next morning, Trida and her parents were moving to a big city.
Trida’s father had got a new job in the city. He also wanted to put her in a big
school in the city.
Trida cried as she said goodbye to her best friends. When they boarded the
train, she sat by the window. As the train started moving, she saw the trees
and the birds passing by.
Continued...
The flowers on the mountainside waved her goodbye and the clouds floated
with the running train.
She was going to miss the snowcapped mountains, the beautiful valley and
her best friends.
She closed her eyes and soon fell asleep.
Continued...
When she woke up, they were in their new home in the city.
It was a small cottage with a lovely garden near a lake.
Through the window, she could see the quite lake.
In the evening, Trida ran up to the lake and sat quietly by the shore.
She remembered her friends and started weeping.
She was missing Whoopy and Goosy.
Continued...
Trida was surprised to see her room when she reached home.
It was filled with new toys and colourful books. She felt happy.
She finished her dinner quickly, brushed her teeth, said her prayers and went to
sleep in her cosy new bed.
Continued...
Next morning, Trida went to the lake with her red ball.
She was playing with the ball near the edge of the lake.
It rolled and fell into the lake. She ran after it, slipped and fell into the shallow
water.
Trida started screaming. She did not know how to swim.

Otto heard her cries. He quickly swam up to her under the water and lifted her
up on his back. Trida was almost fainting with fear.
‘Trida, don’t be scared. I will save you,’ said the otter.
‘Hold me tightly and sit up on my back.’
‘Thank you, Otto, ‘said Trida in a faint little voice, ‘You saved me.’
Otto brought her to the shore and rolled her on to the grass.
Continued...
After some time, Trida sat upright. ‘When I lived in the mountains, my best
friends were Whoopy and Goosy.
