Note: These motions will be used during the preliminary rounds of the tournament in
no particular order. Of the five (5) motions given per set, only three (3) will be up for
veto during the actual rounds. Debaters are allowed to use only printed materials and
pre-downloaded files during the tournament. Please be guided accordingly.

PHILIPPINE POLITICS
1. THW adopt a ‘single-ticket’ voting for Presidents and Vice Presidents in the
Philippines.
i. Infoslide: For the purpose of this debate, ‘single-ticket’ voting refers to
voting for the President and Vice President of the same political party or
alliance.
2. TH, as President Bongbong Marcos, will allow the ICC to investigate Former
President Duterte.
3. THBT Mindanao should secede from the Philippine Government.
4. THBT the Philippines should aggressively focus on enhancing its relationship with
neighboring ASEAN countries over Western countries.
5. THP allowing ‘thin dynasties’ instead of outrightly prohibiting political dynasties
from entering politics.
i. Infoslide: ‘Thin dynasties’ are political families that follow each other over
time instead of occupying public offices simultaneously.

SPORTS
1. THBT the Olympics should allow independent athletes to compete and represent
themselves.
2. THS strong norms encouraging children to treat sports as purely competitive
rather than a hobby.
3. THS the use of AI in refereeing sports.

4. Given the feasibility, TH, as Kai Sotto, will reverse his decision.
i. Infoslide: Recently, Kai Sotto left NBL, an Australian-based 2nd Tier
basketball league behind NBA, to sign with a team in a smaller market
league in Japan where he was offered a larger contract and more playing
time.
5. THR the over-sensationalization of young prospects before they even join the NBA
(e.g. Victor Wembanyama, LeBron James, Kai Sotto).

GENDER
1. TH, as the Feminist Movement, will advocate the exclusive hiring of women in the
workplace.
2. THBT the Sad Girl aesthetic has done more harm than good to the feminist
movement.
i. Infoslide: The Sad Girl aesthetic is an internet niche that packages
women's suffering into an aesthetic, through a set of recognizable
elements such as 'relatable' tragic female characters, musical artists, and
writers that explore pain as a common theme.
3. THR the use of celebrities as icons of women and LGBTQ+ empowerment (e.g.
Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Ellen DeGeneres, etc.)
4. THBT LGBTQIA+ communities in conservative nations should not antagonize the
“just tolerant but not accepting” notion.
5. TH, as the Feminist Movement, will prioritize advocating for a universal basic
income for women instead of social liberties (reproductive rights, labor rights,
etc.)

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
1. THW revive the Southeast Asian Treaty Organization.

i. Infoslide: The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization was an international


organization for collective defense in Southeast Asia created by the
Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty signed in September 1954 in
Manila, Philippines.
2. In post-conflict States, THP rebel-led nationalist regimes over Western-installed
governments.
3. TH, as the Global South, regrets the decline of the Non-Aligned movement.
4. THBT US and UK’s bombing of Yemen is justified.
5. THW create a Global Government.

NARRATIVES
1. THR the portrayal of Philippine Mythical Creatures as beings of horror.
2. THR the rise of the “healing the inner child” narrative.
3. THC the growing intentional choice of DINK (double income no kids) households.
4. THBT personal achievements should be framed as systemic advantages rather
than individual efforts.
5. THR the narrative that family love should be unconditional.
