It has been manufactured as simple as possible in order to reduce at minimun. maintenance works. This elements are delivered to yard totally tested in the on board condition for operation and with overloaded as normal QC departament plus terms of the classing society involved in control. This user manual consider the most important instruccions from manufacturer to a correct use of the system during its life and the most important instruction that must be knowed by user to a correct maintenance and use without damage to the equipement and user. This information collect the main instruction to carry on the use operation and maintenance of the David. These instruction had been carried on in accordance with guidance and recomendation from IMO Circular MSC 1205 26 May 2.006. To cumply with SOLAS mandatory this equipment must be permanently ready to be in operation at any time and must be specially mantained in a perfect use and must be ready for its use Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 3/25 2.- DESCRIPTION The David manufactured by SERVOSHIPEI had been designed and manufactured considering a long life time in an hard corrosion enviroment and compliing last regulation and recomendation of IMO. ‘The crane realice an proper manage of boat with fall crew and it is delivered to yard totally tested and adjusted for proper operation once it is instaled on his support frame normally produced in the yard. Follow elements can be considered as subelements to make complet system. In this manual are developed the necessary instruction for a proper use and maintenace of each one. 1.~ Structure. It is a fixe part to bre bolted to the foundation wich support a Soller bearing to eassy tumo f David arm where are mounted the winch, power unit and accumulator system. 2 Winch. Especial machina designed to andel the hoisting wire with requirements for limited lowering speed, brake and it is powered for hoisting the boat at speed accordance regulation and also manually for proper use in case of dead ship. 3.- Sheaves and elements to proper guide of hoisting wire to manga the boat, Auxiliary sheaves for control remote wires to gravity lowering operation and tuming the boat to lowering position. 4.- Switch board for proper direct start and protection of ellectrie motor suoolied normally as a loose item 5,-Automatic relese hook and hoisting wire ropes. 6. Stowage craddle arrangement normally supplied by the yard, 7. Rescue boat. The crane had been supplied by SERVOSHIP following the drawings examined by Bureau Veritas to issue the Type Approval Certificate accordance with EU directive applied to this elements to use on board and accordance the Quallity System of the company certified by BV as ISO 9.001 in phase of design and manufacture, Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 4/25 © SERVO SHIP, SL. 2.1.- Structure Drawing 3617 anexed show cklearly the parts of the crane structure that use: - 2.1,1.+ Fix part 1 that is used to bolt it to foundation and support the turning bearing and crown gear where is coupled the vis to turn the crane arm actino from the hydraulick motor coupled to the shaft 28 - 2.1.2 Tuming arm crane where are mounted all elements of davit and it is supported by the fix structure as it is showed in the drawing, On this part is mounted: © The hoisting winch item 43 © The accumulator for turning the system © Inspecial cases the auxiliarey storage winch electrically powered with a complet separate system. © The power unit and control Valve, 2-1-1.- Column, - It is manufactured of steel pipe it is used to support the turning bearing and the ‘gear wheele used to transmit the tring movement of arm this structure is bolted to the fundation to support all the operation loads. 2.2.2.- Crane arm = Outer column is bolted to the arm that is bolted to the shaft coupled to the bearing item 4. On this column is builded the turn gear operated by hidraulye ‘motor powered from the power unit. This outer column support the power unit and the accumulator system bolted to it, and the control valve controlled from the boat mean a transmitting wire conendted to the spoon handel Turning device.- The powering shaft of a gear of spur wheels and pifion is conected to the hydraulick motor used to the turn operation. Main shaft of the gear is a spetial vis gear designed as irreversible angle that ‘mate a sin fin gear fised to the internal fixe column. Hydraulic motor is feeded from the control valve that is conected to the main system feeded from the electropmump or and by the oil accumulator arranged as it is showed in the hydrauklic diagram enclosed. Oil accumulator - The power unit is formed by an oil reservoir where are mounted the hydraulick components for proper operation of the system and in accordance with arrangement showed in the hydraulick diagram. The hydraulick pump fed the system and simultancously to an oil accumulator that storage oil required to feed the hydraulick motor with oil required to turn the crane to outboard lowering position. For maintenance checking and disassembli there is fitted a valve to dischage the oil of accumulator to the tank that must be closed in the operation of the system. - The operation of the pump is controlled by an pressure gauge that is settled with the pressure to charge the accumulator once the system get this pressure pump stop and it is conected in a way that when the pressure is reducted under the minimun required the pump start automatically, Job.- The crane arm is designed to support the loads and support the operation winch and in this case the auxiliary winch. On this element are monunted the auxiliary sheaves to remote control elements required to operate the crane and winch from the boat, In the head where is mounted the guide sheave is assambled a limit switch to stop the winche when the hook get this position. All external surface not machined had been spetially protected against corrosion mean shotblasted until grade Sa 2 % and the écheme of proteccion requested by yard. Maintenace: = Itis required examine carefully and periodicaly the mechanical estructure of crane to check what is the painting condition to repair portion where can be act corrosion. - Feed with grease the reduction gear. This area can be greased from the nipples (mare 16) sited in the cover plate 5 of gear hause as itis soled in drawing 2296 Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 6/25 ®© SERVO SHIP, SL. 2.2.- Winch There are mounted on the job two winch 2.2.1. Boat service winch The winch to manage the suspensién boat hook, is a spetial device designed to fulfill the requirements of SOLAS regulation and allowed the hoist of boat mean electric motor at the speed of 18 mpm or by use te a manual crack level, This element is abble to lower by gravity the boat with controled speed mean the action of a centrifugal brake fitted in it. Main funtion of winch are; - Power transmisién of electrik motor to the wire drum. ~ Dynamic brake of the load when is lowering by gravity ~ Brake the system to stop the lowering operation when so is required by crew.. Power of electric motto is transmited from it to the drum mean the gear device showed in drawing enclosed 4374 and contained into a close box where the elements are splash lubricated. The oil level must be checked periodically and keep the oil level properly. Dead man brake de When the boat is hunged there is a clutch (item 3) with ferodo liners that conect the gear with retention device (53) who avoid lowering the boat. The action of clutch is done by the level externally operated with the counterweigth that can be operated by the remote control wire from the boat this level acting on thread 27 move axially the clutch to conect or disconect the gear with the input shaft wher is fitted the retention element, The retention device allowed the hoisting device used with elektric motor conected on the first shaft. Hoisting can be done acting manually from the opposite side of electric motor on the shaft 21 that is coupled to the input shaft with spetial coupling to avoid the crank lavel can be pulled from the electric motor if this start, The weigth of counterweigth in the level is suficient to coupled the cluch with pressure to transmit power by friction of ferodo liners. ‘When the counterweigth is up mean that there is not coupled the clutch and the boat is lowered. The lowering speed is then controlled by the centrifugal brake action of shoes appied to the disk (item 32) Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 7/25, SERVO SHIP, $.L. © In lower position the boat is braked for lowering by the retention device placed on the input shaft. In the same wire drum ithere is a separate adicional small drum who spoole the remote control wire that arranged as it is showed in drawing 3617 can be used om the boat for lopwering or brake the winch. Centriful brake When the boat is lowering the shoes 32 due to centrifugal aceleration of the plate 3 are applied with a speed proporcional force to the wheele 2 and then to the retainig piece 53 and the friction produce a torque to retain the lowering operation at a maximun speed 2.2.2.- Storage erane winch For storage mangement service there is fitted on the job uper part a simple winch with its proper wire to andel the crane hook for manage storage load with a safe working load in this service of 1.000 kgs This winch is a simple design winch, powered by electric motor with electric automatic brake that it is powered from the main switch board where must be conected the separate board as it is showed in general electric wiring diagram 00620251 and its design and pieces are in accordance with enclosed Fig. Fig. 10 Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 8/25 ‘Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 9/25 © SERVO SHIP, SL. Winch maintenance: For a proper maintenance of winch and because some elements are subject to weamess because its own workin arrangement as the ferodo liner of velutch or the centrifugal brake shoes it is recomendad to have on borrad some of this spare parts, - Free whelling (retencion Device) - Centrifugal shoes = Clutch ferodo liners. Once a month must be realze a careful survey of the David to comply with Regulation 20.7 0f IMO Wheekly must be start the motor to verify during at least 3 min proper operation of motor, checking oeration of heaters properlly and the noice of the motor that could be a signal of problems in the motor bearing. During this maintenace operation it is import to check the oil level in the gear box and check the grease condition of all external popints. The oil level must be checked on the oil visor mare 82 sited on the lateral plates of the gear box. When the oil must be replaced it is required fill of oil is completely over the vision window. One mayor level of oil could afect to proper operation of other elements in the winch, Which kina of oil to use it is showed at the end of this manual where is Publisher a list of recomendad oil. ‘Once each twelve months must be done a carefull inspection of internal parts of winch checking the gear aspect because can be affected by corrosion and every five years must be replaced shoes and possibly ferodo lyner in clutch disc, this inspection must be done in the presence of skill personel that was familiar with the winch. Every year and spetially every five years must be inspect the system in accordance with SOLAS reg, I11/20 after overload test must be checked all components to be proper maintenance then our recomendation is to have centrifugal brake shoes to replace it and ferodo liner for disck clutch- Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 10/25 3) 2. The power unit is the element mounted on the outer column and feed oil for operation to the turn hydraukick motor and to the oil accumulator to use during turn operation of crane. Due to the requirements of turn the crane in dead ship condition there is required to fill directly from the pump an oil accumulator used in the condition mentioned befote and the pump feed the accumulator conected as it is showed in drawing 5460. To do that the pump start and stop automatically in base to the pressure of the accumulator. The electric motor is controled from pressostato 8 when the pressure get maximum in the system 260 bars el motor stop the pump is disconected from the system, if the pressure go down the minimun pressure required for one operation to tum the David out borrad 200 bars the pump the electric motor start to fill the oil accumulator system if there is some leqeage in the oil system the accumulator did not get the pressure required for operation and after 34 or 5 min that the motor did not receive signal to stop, an alarm notice that some faillure happen in the system and stop the motor. To start the electric motor shall be required to reset the general contactor into the switch board. The accumulator conected in series with the hydraulick pump feed the control valve 18 trough an close valve 14 that it is manteined closed during storage time to get zero Teaquage and keep the accumulator system fill of oil isolated from the control valve. When the davits is going to work first operation thing must be check that this valve is, open. The line to the hydraulick cylinder is restricted by a flow compensator valve 17. When you push the control handle the valve drive the oil to cylinder to turn the davit arm to the outboard position. ‘The control andel can be poperated from the boat mean the remoto control wire mark 57 in the general arrangement drawing 2296.or from the deck aside of davit Power unit m: jenance, Notice: Befote to realice any maintenance operation in the elements of the power unit or in some part of circuit it is important shut off the electric power feed to the motor to avoid some start simultancouslly it is required descharge of accumulator presure opening the valve 11 empty the oil from accumulator to the tank. During the inicial service and when was done some mayor repair it is required to check the proper answer of control valve and when the andel is pulled from the remote control valve the davit turn to out borrad, if not must be changed the hoses that feed the hydralick motor. Monthily operation - Check and confirm a proper level of the oil into the tank if there is npt suficient must be fill with hidraukick oil with characteristics stated in the oil list. Levels for max and min oil can be checked from visors mounted on the front of the oil of the power unit. - Check the general instalation to look some faillure or lekage - Check the pressure on accumulator system. Case the pressure are not manteined check for some leakages or review the vakves for somo possible leakgae internally to the system. NOTICE in case that the hydraukick cyrcuit must be oponed, it is required to keep especial care to avoid contaminants and the working area must be keep clean. 2.4.- Sheaves and elements for guide the wires: Sheaves.- ‘The main wire is guided by one sheave mounted in the arm end and this use a spetial bearing autolubricated in the way to did not require any kina of lubrication, ‘The sheaves to conduct the auxiliary control wires are manufactured in plastic material and do not require any lub cares, Wire ‘We deliver the unit with the required wirre to bring the boat to water in the worst floating condition of the ship with spetial end to coupled the automatic hook in the end free, ‘When the davit is installed on board it is convenient to grease the wire with spetial grease, Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 12/25 ‘@ SERVO SHIP, SL. Maintenance There is only required special cares to sep the wire in good condition and so every three months it is convenient to pull out the drum all wire and grease it when is recoveredh spetial wire grease using a brush, Other elements as sheaves, main and auxiliars check for general wiev - Every 5 yeats it is required to chage the main wire ropes. 2: Switch board The switch borrad is basically formed by the starters elements for the two electric ‘motors one the winch powered and the other one the motor driven the pump for hydraulick services with magnetotermic relai for each motor protection and relay to conect the push botton to fit near the davit operation. And the required elements for automatic start stop of motor and the alarm elements, Limit switch In the upper part of davit, to avoid overtravel of hook there is fitted a limit switch than when is acted stop the hoisting operation the electrick motor can not be running and shall be required acto n the clutch to lowering the boat when was in the vertical of the craddle. Presostate An other external clement to be wired is the presostate used for start stop the electric motor and plased on the oil reservoir Motors - Pump on the power unit - Motor coupled to the winch for hoisting operation Push botton Used for control of hoisting motor aside the davits, Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 13/25 @) SERVO SHIP, SL. Maintenance ; Attentién: To manipulate incide of starter boxes it is required to cut off the voltaje supli to the box swuitching off the voltaje feed from the genral switch placed in the front of the door- Itis not required any operation of maintenance but is very convenient to have on borrad the required spare to change it in case of failure. In case of faillure the synthom of faillure with the electric squeme conection shall be suficient to detect the faillure Periodic check must be as follow - Fuses - That the alarm is working properly, ~ Check the heaters of both electric motors et the presostate correctly it switch is working ~ During the comissioning for technical assistance or when the motors had beeen desconected must be check the proper turn correct befote working vontinouslly. 2.6.- Automatic release hook The hppk is the piece from which the boat is suspended had been designed in accordance the regulation and had supported an extreme test for type approval certificate and production test. ‘To avoid damages it is important to read the coneret instruction of the element in the drawing 1747 it is showed the working arrangement and the funtion of diferents level Maintenance: The only precaution to sep in mind is to be sure that it is avoided any corrosion on it and the internal parts are keeped inveved in grease. If there is sailing on cold seas where the ice can be formed it is required to have a harm acesible because if Sthe ice is formed over the hook must be required to harm the hook to brake the ice formed before use it. ‘Yearly must be submitted to general test in accordance with SOLAS cap III reg. 20 Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 14/25 @ SERVO SHIP, SL, 2.7.- Cruddle and stowage elements Normally the craddle and stowage elements are supplied by yard and it is convenient to sep in mind that accordance with SOLAS reg. 22.2 the stowage of boat must be ‘manufactured in a way that the boat can be lowered to the water from the stowage position by the boat crew into the boat. This reglulation ask for a special consideration in a way that must be allowed tum the boat without interferente with the craddle when the boat is tured out borrad, as an idee to manufacture the boat cruddel it is showed in general arrangement drawing 2.8.- Boat. Itis included a maintenance manual of NORMAR life boat NORMAR- RESCUE- 425 3.- USE INSTRUCTIONS. This davit is the system that allowed the manage of rescuie boat to brig it from the stowage position on deck to the water vertical and lowering the boat with its crew into the water and recover the boat with its crew from the water to hoisting it untill the deck, tum i ton borrad and stowage again. ‘Movements of the elements are: - Turn the davit from inboard to out board - Hoisting and lowering the boat from the deck level to the water, Adicional to this two basic movements the crane must meet follow ; = Control of the boat for lowering from the stovage position untill the water ~ Posibility to do the previous one without energy on boardhe ship. - Posibility to recover the boat manually. It is strongthly recomendad that befote use the davit with person onboard the boat this manual must be understand by the crew responsable on borrad, Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 15/25 @& SERVO SHIP, SL. 3.1 Hoisting and lowering the boat Lowering Before start the operation is required to check that the hook is mounted corretlly, that suspensién wire is free of defects, the auxiliary slings are ok and properlly arranged Check or open the closing valve 14 and valve 11 closed and pressure on accumulator is over 200 bars. Check that the winch clutch level is in the lower position and so the clutch engaged Desassambly the lashing gear to free the boat from gripping on deck Ship on board To turn the davit from the boat is required to push from remote control number 57 internal sling and the davit will turn untill we release the sling, control valve return by spring action to zero position and tum stop. Once you get the lower position acting on the other sling for remote control of winch clutch you will release the brake when you push the control wire and boat will lower by gravity action up to release the control gear then the counterweigth act and the clutch is applied and the lower stop untill again pushing the slings the boat will get the water, Itus recomended start the boat propulsion motor before the boat get the water When the boat is at 500 or 1000 mm from water the hook must be arrange for automatic release as it is explained on teh hook instructions Note: It is posible lower the wire from the winch actino over the wheele 107. It is required if there is needed more length of wire for recovery the boat and make ease the engage of hook. Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 16/25 ‘When the boat must be recover it is required: ~ Place the boat in the hook vertical, in that operation could be required lower the hook with the wheele in the winch because unclutching the brake, the weight of hook is not enough to lower the hook. ~ Close the hook with terminal ring of boats suspension slings and move the safety level up to ensure hardly the hook (see 3.4) - From the deck the operator must check that counterweigth level is in down position ~ Act the push botton starting motor for hoist the boat keep atention to the uper posicién before itis activated the limit switch - Act the valve control level to tum the boat into thr drck Hoisting operation is only posible from deck or mean the electrick motor or manually mean action of level 3.2 Lowering boat without energie Befote start must be checked that the isolating valve is open and the pressure in the accumulutar gage is dver 200 bars Jn that circunstances is posible to realice the lowereing operation even if the ship is under no energie source- The operation to lower the boat is the same than that described previously. 3.3 Hoisting manually . Into the scope of supli is delivered a hand level that allowed the hoisting operation manually conecting the hand fievel in the shaft 21 of general arrangement drawing, in the same shaft of electric motor and the oposite side. This shaft has a special coupling to avoide that in case the motor start when the hand level conected it not be transmited power to hand level and avoid injuries on the operator. To do the manual turing it is required to specify it or unscrew the cover plate in the end opposite to the hydraulick motor conexién and do the operation carefully because this shaft is not protected in normal case against be tuned from the motor action Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 17/25 WP, SL, 3.4 Hook. This hook had been tested under the IMO Msc. Cire 81(70) accordance with last EU directive to get a type approbal certificate, which original is keeped in our files. As it is show in the general drawing enclosed the hook is basically in a floating hook, an block level that avoid the movement of thr hook tail when is armed, one safety level that block all mechanism, spring to push out the hook when unloded. Alll this part are showed in drawing 1747 Hook engage. The hook is ready to hung the boat when all pieces are positioned as it is showed in drawing enclosed. To get this position when the suspensién ring is incide the hook it is required press the hook and release level to close untill the piece 7 engage in the hook, alter that the safety level is turned up to block all system so: - Piece 7 engage the hook 2 - Piece 13 block any movement of pieces Mode Automatic o "pre-shoot" When the boat is near the water it is required to prepare the hook for automatic release for what it is required - Pull from green rope to tur the safety level 13 and unblock the mechanism - Pulling from rope red piece 7 is desengaged from the hook and so the hook is free to free the load only is retained because the geometry of the hook, ~ When the boat waterborne the spring push the hook fo tum and the boat is free. ‘When the hook is free for sct automatically it is dangerus that the boat hit the ship side Dreause in this action could be released the load on the hook and it open. This is because the system must be armed when the boat is near the water, On load release. If there is some faillure in the release operation it is posible act to open the hook with some load hunging. 1°- Turn the safety level to the maximun stroke to be sure that the mechanisme is, totally free. 2° Push hardly from release level With a load over 600 Hulls 631-637 FREIRE 238-Q pag 18/25 @ SERVO SHIP, SL. 4 INSTALATION To avoid any type of desplacement during transport there is a plate welded to the columns fix and movil that shall be required to remove once the crane is placed in situation. To avoid overtravell when is turning the crane there is an stop (marc 59) that must be placed in correct site once it is confirmed the turning required fro a proper operation. Once the crane is boite to its foundation and the turning stop placed it is required to chef and proceed to grease all points and fill hydraulick oil in the reservoir befote start the electric motor. Alter that is required to check proper tum of electric motors and change one of phases if the motor turn is not correct, Now it is required to start the power unit to fill the accumulator system, as shall be required more time that in normal working condition is posible that the motor stop automatically and alarm ligth appear, then it is required to reset the automatic alarm relay untill the charge of accumulator was o.k. Check all elements looking for leagages (Power unit, pipes, hoses ...) Check that isolation valves 11 and 14 are closed Check the termic relay in the switch board If avery thing is ok start from the main switch in the front door of box. If the alam is switch off but the motor do not start check that emergency push botton is OK. if the ‘problem do don desappear contact SRVOSHIP ‘Turning system does not capacity to get a conplet turn.
