INCREDIBLY USEFUL DATES

This isn’t as much a recipe as a sweet hack that some clever person has come up
with. I would happily credit someone, but I am genuinely not sure whose idea
this was to stuff sweet dates with a dollop of nut (or seed – tahini works
brilliantly too) butter for a healthier treat.
My fav two combos are dates with peanut butter and dates with tahini. We top
them with a pinch of dark chocolate shavings and a little bit of sea salt for a true
flavor bomb.
The beauty of this treatment is that while it is far better for you than most other
sweets (dates are sweet yet good for you ), it requires few ingredients, most of
which you’ll probably have in your cupboard anyway, and takes minutes to
prepare.

PREPARATION.

INGREDIENTS

 10 dates, I used Medjool dates

 peanut butter or any other nut/seed butter (tahini is my favorite too)

 15 g / 0.5 oz dark vegan chocolate (I used 70% cacao), coarsely chopped

 coarse sea salt

METHOD
1. If you are using dates with stones as I did, destone them by making a slit along each
date and carefully remove the stone.
2. Place a heaped teaspoon of peanut butter inside each date.
3. Sprinkle each date with a good pinch of chopped chocolate and a small pinch of sea
salt.

BENEFFITS
There are several potential health benefits of eating dates:

1. Rich in nutrients: Dates are high in several essential vitamins and minerals, including
potassium, magnesium, iron, and vitamin B6.
2. Good source of fiber: Dates are a good source of dietary fiber, which can aid in
digestion, regulate blood sugar levels, and promote feelings of fullness.
3. May improve brain function: Studies suggest that dates may help improve cognitive
function and memory, possibly due to their high antioxidant content.
4. May support heart health: Dates may help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk
of heart disease, possibly due to their high fiber content and antioxidants.
5. May help with constipation: Dates have been traditionally used as a natural remedy
for constipation due to their high fiber content.

It's important to note that while dates are a nutritious food, they are also high in calories and
sugar, so they should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
