STM-1 Electrical SFPs with the APN 1AKO5176AA support coax connectors. Due to mechanical size of the connectors, any SFP/SFP+ cage thats vertically adjacent to an electrical STM-te SFP pluggable on the 20MX80 card should remain unequipped to avoid interference. A maximum of 10 electrical SFPs can be inserted into a 20MX80 card, when using SFP cages of the ports 1, 2, 5,6, 9, 10, 1, 12, 15 and 16. To ensure proper routing of electrical cables, these electrical SFPs can only be inserted on 20MX80 cards residing in slot 3 andlor in slot 13 of the 1830 PSS-8x shelf and in the slots 2, 16, 18, andior 32 of the 4830 PSS-12x shelf. Refer to section Cable management inthis manual for further installation information 2. Electrical SFPs with the APN 1AB359780003 support R45 connectors. Due to mechanical size restrictions of the R45 connectors, such electrical SFPs can only be inserted into the SFP cages of the even-numbered ports 2,4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 of 20MX80 cards, All other ports can be equipped additionally with regular optical modules. Furthermore these electrical SFPs can only be inserted on 20MXB0 cards residing in slot 13 af the 1830 PSS-8x shel, that is, adjacent to XMFC and should only be inserted on 20MXB0 cards residing in the slots 2, 15, 18, andlor 31 of the 1830 PSS-12x shel. If such electical SFPs are equipped in the 1830 PSS-8x shelf, XMFC needs a special procedure to be removed that has to be performed in a maintenance window. This is supported by low FIT rate for XMFC in applications not applying housekeeping, station alarm, and rack alarming functionality (FIT = 632 instead of 1084 when these features are activated on XMFC), If such electrical SFPs are equipped in the 1830 PSS-12x shelf, the slot tothe right ofthe 20MX80 card must not be equipped with a card, but wit a blank front plate. The eight /O slots are universal slots with up to 200 Gb/s payload capacity each, the total system capacity of a 1830 PSS-8x is 1,6 Tb/s, With the introduction of XST4T the eight I/O slots support up to 500 Gb/s payload capacity each, the total system capacity of a 1830 PSS-8x is 4 Tbis. The system design is fully redundant for common functionalities: + Switching Card (XSTIT6/XST4T) 2+1 redundancy = Manual switch of redundant units without any effect on traffic = Automatic switch due to failure in less than 50 ms + Clock and Equipment Controller Card (XCEC8) 1+1 redundancy = Management interface, node management, control plane, Clock Recovery Unit (CRU), central LAN switch (LSW), shelf management + Power Supply Filter (XPSF8/XPSF8H) 1+1 for redundant battery A and B feeds = One XPSF8/XPSF8H card per feed + Three XFAN8 modules provide efficient cooling of the system, An air filter protects the inside of the equipment against dust. ‘The three XFANB modules are mandatory. One XFAN8 can be exchanged at a time (operation with two XFANS modules for up to 15 minutes is allowed). Any motor failure will be alarmed and will result in higher speed of the other motors to guarantee the same airflow through the system, A small Shelf Sensor Card (XSSC) monitors the air inlet temperature. Rack mounting options The following rack types are supported: + 300-mm ETSI One Rack (ETS! market): 2200 mm (7.2 ft) x 600 mm (23.6 in) x 300 mm (11.8 in) (HW D) + 7-feet Seismic Network Bay Frame rack (SNBF rack) (ANSI market): 2133.6 mm (7 ft) x 584.2 mm (23 in) » 304.8 mm (12 in) (H x W x D) The shelf is mountable In racks with: + Vertical mounting grid of 44.45 mm (1.75 in) EIA Document 310, “Cabinets, Racks, Panels, and Associated Equipment” + WECO pitch 25.4 mm (1.0 in) i] Note: The horizontal aperture of the rack must be 450,85 mm (17.75 in). Racks with 444.5 mm (17.5 in) horizontal aperture are not supported, The size of the 1830 PSS-8x shelf enables to mount four shelves into one of these racks types, while configured as main or as extension shelf. Therefore, a single active component failure does not shutdown all blowers. Each XFAN8 operates within the full voltage range of 36 Vto-75 V. ‘To control noise and cooling in optimal way, the controller sets the speed of each motor of a XFANE to values ranging from zero speed (0 %) over minimum speed (about 30 %) to maximum speed (100 %). The XFAN8 allows an exceptional maximum speed setting, greater than maximum speed, for example 110 9 A defect of one motor inside a XFAN8 does not influence any of the other working motors. Each motor works independently from the others. If the motor drives do not receive control commands {rom the FAN controller for three minutes, it wll be considered as a controller failure and the motors autonomously go to maximum speed (100 %). A single XFAN8 or FAN motor failure or the removal of the XFANB itself is reported to the Clock and Equipment Controller Card (XCEC8) which performs consequently FAN speed regulations of the remaining XFAN8 modules. In the event the system controller is unable to communicate with the XFANB, the fans automatically run at maximum speed, Upon power-up of a XFAN8, a special start-up scheme is activated for a maximum duration of 20 minutes. The reason is to avoid annoying high acoustic noise from the fans running at full speed while the regular fan speed control may not be ready working during a system start-up. © 2022 Nokia, Nokia Confidential Infomation Release 22.12, Qa atons fossa on aces an use Issue 1 3KC-71311-PBAA-SQZZA 169 Product descrpton . 1830 PSS-8x and 1830 PSS-12x (OTN) Nokia 1830 PSS-Bx/12x/26% Fan Module (XFANS) 5.5.3 5.5.4 170 During power-up of any XFANB, a fixed fan speed is set autonomously by the fan module. The fixed fan speed is 6750 rpm (75 % of nominal max), which is generally sufficient to keep all component temperatures below their functional limits, up to an ambient temperature of 40 °C. Once a heartbeat from the equipment controller is received, the regular fan speed control takes over. Fan alarms The 1830 PSS-8x Fan Modules report malfunctioning of an individual FAN element (module or motor) to the Clock and Equipment Controller Card (XCEC8). Failure of one of the redundant power feeds is alarmed as well Fan module replacement The Fan Module (XFAN8) is field replaceable without requiring any tools and without shutting down any other devices of the system. One XFANS can be exchanged at a time. When the ambient ‘temperature is not higher than 40 °C (normal operating range), exchanging a XFAN8 does not affect the system functionality. The air flow for thermal dissipation inside the shelf is sustained by the two remaining fan modules. To maintain this redundancy, the replacement of a Fan Module (XFANB) should be completed within a short term, Refer to the 1830 PSS Maintenance and Trouble-Clearing Guide for detailed fan replacement instructions. Power supply In the 1830 PSS-8x shelf each Fan Module (KFAN8) is connected to power feed 1 of the Power ‘Supply Filters XPSF8/HA1 and XPSF8/HB2. In case of a failure or removal of one of these XPSF8/H cards, the XFAN8 will be fed by only one power branch, coming from the opposite feeder side, Refer to 5.23 “1830 PSS-8x Power distribution concept * (p. 239).
