Baguio City: Summer Capital of the

Philippines
Baguio City, located in the northern part of the Philippines,
enjoys a subtropical highland climate, which is unique in a
country known for its tropical climate. Due to its elevation (it
sits approximately 1,540 meters or 5,050 feet above sea level),
Baguio experiences cooler temperatures compared to the rest of
the Philippines, especially during the dry season from November
to May. Average temperatures in Baguio range from about 15°C
(59°F) to 26°C (79°F), with the coolest months being December
through February. The city is famous for its "Panagbenga" or
Flower Festival in February, which is celebrated in part because
of its comfortable climate.

The wet season runs from June to October, with the city
receiving significant rainfall, which can lead to foggy conditions
and cooler temperatures. Despite the rain, the temperature
remains relatively cool, making Baguio a popular retreat from
the heat of the lowlands throughout the year.

The unique climate contributes to Baguio's status as the

"Summer Capital of the Philippines," attracting tourists seeking
relief from the heat. Its climate also allows for the growth of
temperate-zone plants and produce, such as strawberries and
lettuce, which are uncommon in other parts of the country.
