Writing Task 1 Academy Phrases Ebook 3
Writing Task 1 Academy Phrases Ebook 3
(1) The plans illustrate how much a theater has changed between 2010 and 2012. It seems that the theater was
expanded sideways to build more facilities.
Overall, a number of changes took place all over the layout of the building, (2) some of which involved the
conversion and relocation of some features. The only exception was the center as it remained
relatively unchanged.
In 2010, the theater could be entered from the main entrance to the South, through which (3) a cafe could
be easily spotted in the right corner. A ticket office and administration office were situated opposite the cafe.
After 2 years, the ticket office, however, was relocated to (4) the bottom right corner where the cafe had been
demolished, while the administration office was moved to the back. This was to make way for a new restaurant
area in the left rear corner.
The old media room and storage room had been moved to the top left and right side respectively, both of
which could now be accessed from the new hallway. (5) The space which used to be occupied by the media room
(6) was reduced by two times so that the stage in front could be expanded. Finally, a new showers area had
been built next to the media room. Lastly, no changes were made to the central auditorium.
ANALYSIS
1. The plans illustrate how much a theater has changed
The diagrams below show the present building of a college and the plan for changes to the college site in the future.
(Actual test, 24-10-2020)
The diagrams show how much a college will have changed by 2020
Cách sử dụng: Các bạn lưu ý vào điểm ngữ pháp some of which.
A number of changes took place all over the layout of the building, some of which involved the conversion
and relocation of some existing features.
The old media room and storage room had been moved to the top left and right side respectively, both of which could
now be accessed from the new hallway.
4. the bottom right corner where the cafe had been demolished
Dịch nghĩa: ở vị trí góc dưới cùng bên phải nơi mà quán cafe bị dỡ bỏ
Chúng ta đã thấy nhiều mệnh đề quan hệ bắt đầu bằng các đại từ which/who/that, nhưng có thể lại ít khi sử dụng where.
Ví dụ tương tự:

used to be located.

SUGGESTED ANSWER
Exercise 1:
(1) has changed
(2) some of which involve
(3) could be easily spotted
(4) occupied by the cafe
(5) where the gallery used to be
Exercise 2:
(1) The diagrams illustrate how much a student accommodation has changed from 2010 to the present.
(2) In general, the building has witnessed several changes all over its layout throughout the period, some of
which involves the conversion and relocation of some features.
(3) In 2010, a large hall and a bathroom could easily be spotted in the southwest part of the
student accommodation.
(4) A parking area has been added to the south where a garden used to be located.
(5) The space which used to be occupied by the hall was reduced by 2 times to make room
for a bathroom.
Exercise 3:
The maps indicate how much a sporting facility at a university has changed since 1990.
Overall, it is evident that the sports facility has undergone major changes, most of which involves the conversion and
relocation of some features. The most noticeable moderation is the construction of a new facility to the northwest
of the court.
In 1990, there was a cafe in the southern area, and an outdoor swimming pool could easily be spotted due to the large
space it occupied. Also, the reception and changing room were situated on the left-hand side of the pool at the time.
No changes have been made to the reception but the changing room was expanded two times and now faces the pool.
The outdoor pool has undergone a transformation to an indoor one. The building also has a new fitness center inside.
In order to make room for the new building, the tennis courts have been reconstructed and relocated to the place where
the car park used to be. The park has also been demolished to construct a basketball court at the top left corner of the
map.
Overall, the college will (1) undergo radical modifications, including the elimination of a garden as well as room
rearrangements to create a space that can (2) accommodate a larger student population.
At present, (3) to the north situates a garden separated from the main building by (4) a footpath running from West
to East and another one leading to the main road. The main building can be accessed from the entrance to the North,
through which students will find a lunch area to their right, with a classroom to their left, followed by the reception. After
the lunch area, there are two more classrooms located at the left end of the hall, with the corner classroom next to a
toilet and a library at the right end.
(6) Future proposed redevelopments will involve the expansion of the car park and the main building, (7) at the
expense of the garden and both footpaths. Other adjustments will include the relocation of the entrance to the south, the
reception area to the center of the hall, and the toilet to the opposite end of the hall. The existing library will be converted
into a classroom, making the eastern wall dedicated to four large classrooms. A shop will be added next to the toilets,
while the lunch area and bus stop will remain unchanged.
ANALYSIS
1. Undergo radical modifications
The college will undergo radical modifications, including the elimination of a garden as well as room
rearrangements to make a functional space that can accommodate a larger student population.
Overall, the village of Stokeford underwent radical changes, including the conversion from farmland to residential areas
as well as the addition of a retirement home to accommodate a larger population.
The two maps below show an island, before and after the construction of some tourist facilities.
(Question from Cambridge Practice Test 13)
The college will undergo radical modifications, including the elimination of a garden as well as room
rearrangements to make a functional space that can accommodate a larger student population.

The pictures show the layout of a cinema in 1980 and the same cinema now
(Actual test, 05-12-2020)
The cinema has been developed in size to accommodate a larger volume of movie-goers.
The most remarkable modification was the extension of the space used for study bedrooms to accommodate a larger
student population.
3. To the north situates a garden separated from the main building by a footpath
Dịch nghĩa: Có một khu vườn nằm ở phía Bắc, được ngăn cách với tòa nhà chính bởi đường đi bộ
Cấu trúc đảo ngữ: [ADV of Place] + [V chỉ vị trí]*+ S + [ ADV2 of place]*
Opposite the cafe lay/ located/ stood a ticket office and administration office.
At present, to the north situates a garden separated from the main building by a footpath running from West
to East and another one leading to the main road.
thì ta kết hợp thêm thành “with a road/ a footpath/… running through town center from [direction] to [direction]”. Ví dụ:
Looking at the map of Islip as it is now, it can be seen that a main road runs through its centre from east to west.
surrounding the site …”
There is a new footpaths constructed circling the lake and the forest on the left and right side of the car park, respectively.
Floor plan in the present map involves the expansion of the theater and addition of more facilities.
Existing redevelopments involve the relocation of facilities in the common room and the addition of other amenities.
The village became more residential and commercial, including new homes, access roads, a bridge, shops,
and areas for recreation and sports at the expense of natural forests and farms.
The diagram below shows the development of a particular area between 1965 and the present day.
(Actual test)
• To the northwest of the map lies a parking lot for car, at the expense of forest.
• People will chop down forest in the nortwest corner to make way for a new car park.

Looking at the map of Islip as it is now, it can be seen that a main road runs through its centre from east to west. The
projected map depicts the planned pedestrianisation of this road, with this new road (3) ______________ the residential
area from the commercial area to the other side. Traffic will be diverted on to a dual carriageway that will form a ring
around the town centre, through which residents can assess amenities .
Currently along either side of the main road (4) __________a row of shops. However, (5) ________________will involve the
addition of a bus station, shopping centre, car park and new housing (6) _____________________ the shops along the north
side of the new pedestrian. The shops along the south side of the street will stay intact, but it seems that the town’s park
will be reduced in scale so that more additional houses can be erected within the ring road.

Exercise 2:
(1) The two maps illustrate how much the town of Stokeford modified over 80 years from 1930.
(2) Overall, the town underwent radical modifications, including the elimination of farmland as well as
the addition of more accommodation and facilities to make a more residential area that can
accommodate a larger population.
(3) In 1930, farmland on which cows were bred accounted for over a half of the town and was distributed
on either side of the main road running from North to South.
(4) To the West of the main road located shops and a post office, with a primary school on the
opposite side.
(5) Along the main road, there were some accommodation and a garden with a large house to the East of
the map.
(6) Redevelopments in 2010 involved the emergence of a large number of houses houses along and roads
leading off from the main road, at the expense of farmland for breeding animals and shops.
(7) The primary school directly opposite to the post office, despite staying the same position, became
double larger in size.
(8) Moreover, the gardens were narrowed to make way for a new path and some houses.
(9) The last adjustment was the conversion from large house into retirement home with two
additional blocks.
Exercise 3:
SAMPLE
The maps depict how much beachfront area has changed in a certain region in Australia from 1950 until today.
Overall, the entire waterfront area has undergone radical modifications, some of which involved the addition of new
entertainment facilities as well as the upgrade of access roads and the parking lot to make a more functional space.
In 1950, the site could be only accessed via a road running eastward from the city directly to the car park next to the
pavilion. However, the present redevelopments involves the access road extends all the way around to the lighthouse
next to the beach, circling the whole beachfront. In addition, another carpark has been built at the expense of/ in the site
where the old children’s playground area used to be.
Beside the beach lie the two swimming pools, with the pool situated on the western side of the beach being converted into
a 50m pool, by which new buildings for a restaurant and surf club have also been constructed. The 25m pool next to the
lighthouse remains unchanged, although it is also now accompanied by a new building for another surf club.
In order to make room for the new building, the tennis courts have been reconstructed and relocated to the place where the
car park used to be. The park has also been demolished to construct a basketball court at the top left corner of the map.
The maps depict the layout of Bell Hill Farm in 1976 and its renovation into an Environment Centre where learners could
visit in 2006.
Overall, it is apparent that this area underwent major alterations (1) to be repurposed into the Environment Centre, with
all agricultural facilities replaced (2) to make way for the new amenities. (3) The sole exceptions left intact were the
farmhouse and the entrance to the site.
In 1976, (4) the site could only be accessed via a road running from North to South which (5) was bifurcated at the
Southern end. Towards the North-western part of the farm situated a warehouse for farm machinery, while a barn
storing corn and other produce was placed in the North of the farmyard. There was also a farmhouse standing in the
South and an area where chickens roamed nearby and some cowsheds could be spotted in the North-eastern area.
30 years later, while the road and the farmhouse recorded no redevelopments, the other facilities witnessed considerable
modifications to become the Environment Centre. Specifically, the warehouse in the North-west was converted into a
parking lot catering to visitors to the environment center, whereas in the North, (6) a multimedia room was built in the
original site of the old barn. The final change was the addition of an area for recreational purposes in the middle of the
old farmyard.
ANALYSIS
1. To be repurposed into
Thành phần:
• purpose (n) mục đích
It is apparent that this area underwent major alterations to be repurposed into the Environment Centre.
It is obvious that the town of Stokeford underwent major alterations to be repurposed from an area for mainly farmland
to a more residential region.
t is obvious that Pentland underwent major alterations to be repurposed from an unspoiled area with a small industrial
zone to a more residential one equipped with modern facilities.
• to be left intact: giữ nguyên vẹn, không thay đổi
• exception: sự ngoại lệ
Cấu trúc: The sole exception(s) + left intact+ [tobe] + N1+ [N2]+...
Overall, it is apparent that this area underwent major alterations to be repurposed into the Environment
Centre, with all agricultural facilities replaced to make way for the new amenities. The sole exceptions left
intact were the farmhouse and the entrance to the site.
The sole exceptions are the ticket booth and the restrooms for both genders, which has remained unchanged
over time.
The only features that are preserved over time are the ticket booth and the restrooms for both genders.
In 1976, the site could be only accessed via a road running from North to South.
Future redevelopments involves the addition of cliffs, through which beach goers can access the beach below.
The beach can be only accessed via cliffs which will be equipped after renovation.
The site could be only accessed via a road running from North to South which was bifurcated at the
Southern end.

5. A multimedia room was built in the original site of the old barn
Cấu trúc: A + [tobe] + Vp(ii) + [in the original site of] + [something]
A multimedia room was built in the original site of the old barn
• To the Northeast of the map, more houses are erected in the site where there used to be forest.
• To the Northeast of the map, more houses are erected in the original site of forest.
• There was a new swimming pool, a hotel and two tennis courts erected on the northeast side of the map in the
original site of the farmland.
• A new swimming pool, a hotel and two tennis courts were erected on the northeast side of the map in the site where
there had been farmland.

SAMPLE
The given maps illustrate the future plans for the transformation of an industrial area into a new residential area.
Overall, Overall, it is apparent that this area underwent major alterations to be repurposed into a more residential area,
with the elimination of all existing structures to make way for several accomodation and facilities.
At present, the site could be accessed via an entrance and reception building located on the northern boundary of the
site. The future plans show that this will be replaced by a much larger building, housing three 2-bedroom homes and a
large communal garden area. Meanwhile, an apartment building and parking area will be built in the original site of the
factory which currently sits on the eastern side of the block.
On the western side of the site, the future plans show a 3-bedroom and a 4-bedroom house to be built where the
packing and storage buildings currently stand. Additionally, the large office block and canteen building on the southern
boundary of the site will be replaced by parking garages.

The given flow chart illustrates (1) the linear production of making soft cheese.
In general, it can be seen that the process is comprised of five main stages, (2) each of which requires a specific
temperature and different duration, (3) commencing with the blend of ingredients and culminating with the final product
all set to be consumed.
In the first stage, two main ingredients, namely milk and fresh water, are well combined in a mixer. Then, the
(4) resulting mixture is ready for the second step in which it is stored in a specific cooling equipment to be blended
and chilled at 5 Celsius degrees at the same time. After 2 hours, (5) salt is added to the mixture before being heated
constantly for a six-hour time span to allow for fermentation.
(6)The fourth stage involves letting off steam via evaporation using more heat, which is up to 100 Celsius degrees. As
a result of an 8-hour evaporation, steam is released through an outlet, and the mixture becomes a thicker liquid. In the
second last stage, the compound is conveyed to be chilled again at 5 Celsius degrees for 6 hours while the wastewater
is drained out. In the final stage, there is another filtration step to (7) refine any impurities to produce final soft cheese.

Salt is added to the mixture before being heated constantly for a six-hour time span to allow for fermentation.

The diagram shows the linear production of soft drink.
Overall, there are 5 stages in the process, commencing with preparing the water for the drinks, each of which requires
different temperature and durantion, and culminating with the packaging and delivery of the finished product.
In the first stage of the process, water is put through a filter before a softener and other chemicals are added to it.
Once the resulting mixture has been processed, it is then pumped on to stage 2 where it undergoes evaporation and
carbonation. During this stage, the water is heated and runs through a cooling pipe to allow for the next step of the
addition of carbon dioxide, creating carbonated water.
The third stage of the process involves putting carbonated water into a mixing tank where it is mixed with colouring,
flavouring, and sweetener. The resulting compound is then filtered before being packaged into cans and bottles. Finally,
once the bottles and cans have been packaged into boxes, they are transported to supermarkets where they are ready
to be sold
The diagram illustrates the linear production of making sugar from sugar cane.
Overall, this is a (1) capital-intensive process that involves seven steps, (2) from the initial cultivation of sugar canes,
followed by various treatment stages, to the eventual production of the final sugar.
Initially, (3) it takes sugar canes from 1-1.5 years to be grown on fields until they are ready for harvest, (4) either by
hand or by the industrial reaper. Then, they (5) proceed to be squeezed in a crusher to extract sugar cane juice, which
passes through a limestone filter to ensure that any residue is eliminated.
Following filtration, the juice is put under heat in an evaporator to condense it into a syrup. Once evaporation is complete,
the separation of sugar crystals from the syrup will take place as the liquid is rotated at a high speed in a centrifuge. In
final stage, the sugar is dried and chilled, (6) ready to be packed and consumed.

The diagram below shows how orange juice is produced. (Actual test, 18-01-2018)
Exercise 2:
(1) The diagram illustrates the linear production of frozen fish pie with four main ingredients of salmon,
peas, sauce and potatoes.
(2) In general, this is a labor- intensive process involving ten steps, from the initial collection of raw
materials, followed by various treatment stages, to the eventual delivery of finished product to
the supermarkets.
(3) One of the ingredients, potato undergoes a six-stage preparation process before they are added to the
resulting pie.
(4) It takes up to one month before the process begin for potatoes, which are the first ingredient to be
prepared on the production line, to be delivered to the factory.
(5) Next, they are cleaned, peeled and sliced ( sử dụng After/ rinsed with water/ cut into thin slices) After
being rinsed with fresh water, they are peeled and then cut into thin slices.
(6) Once sliced potatoes are boiled at the temperature of 100 celsius degrees to allow for the next step of
chilling and storage while peeleings are discarded.
(7) Within 12 hours from being delivered to the factory to cooked in a steam oven, fresh salmon must be
seasoned with lemon juice and salt to avoid being rotten.
(8) Not until do factory workers remove and dispose of the skin and bones by hand, supervisors inspect
the resulting fish to check whether they are qualified or not.
(9) Following inspection, pre-prepared peas, sauce and potatoes are added.( proceed to add/ which are
already prepared) Following inspection, workers proceed to add peas, sauce and potatoes which are
already prepared to the mixture.
(10) The reuslting fish pies are are wrapped, frozen, ready for storage and distribution to supermarkets.
Exercise 3:
Overall, this is a capital- intensive process involving various stages, from the initial collection of fresh oranges, followed
by many treatment stages, and culminating with the distribution of juice boxes to supermarkets.
Firstly, oranges are picked, loaded onto trucks and delivered to the processing plant where they are thoroughly washed by
a machine to eliminate any impurities. Following that, the juice is extracted from the oranges by a squeezing machine.
At this stage of production, solid waste, including orange peels and seeds, are collected to feed animals, while the juice
can either be packaged ready to be consumed, or transferred to another factory for the
evaporation process.
SAMPLE 3
The diagram shows how chocolate is produced.
Actual test, 09-01- 2021)
The diagram (1) details the process of making chocolate from cacao.
Overall, there are nine steps involved in the making of chocolate. The process begins with harvesting ripe red pods that
grow on cacao trees and ends with the molding stage to produce chocolate bars ready to be consumed or sold.
The first step in making chocolate is to extract white cacao beans from the ripe red pods on cacao trees to (2) prepare
them for further stages. (3) Following a 10-12-day process of fermentation, cacao beans are sun-dried and then roasted
at temperatures between 120 to 150 degrees Celsius.
(4) After being roughly treated with heat, the inner parts of the roasted beans are separated from the shell. Afterwards,
the removed parts are pressed to produce a liquid and (5) this stage is referred to as conching. The next step involves
the liquid being tempered so that it hardens at the appropriate temperature before the mixture is treated at the final
stage in which it is molded to make chocolate bars, (6) the ultimate product of this process.

The diagram given details the process of making leather products from animal skin.
As we can see, there are a total of 10 stages in the process. It commences with drying animal skin and ends with the
skin being used to manufacture leather goods sold at stores.
The initial step involves the hanging and drying of animal hide, which is then delivered to a plant by lorry to prepare the
hide for further steps. At the factory, animal skin is cleaned with a combination of water and lime, and this is followed
by soaking it deeply into a tank vat of lime only. Following the soaking stage, animal skin is flattened by a rolling
machine, which is referred to as the flattening stage ,and after that it is submerged one more time in tannin, a
combination/mixture of water and vegetable matter.
After being soaked in the tannin, the hide is then polished. After this stage is completed, animal hide is transported
to other factories where it is finally used to make the ultimate products of this process that we see in stores such as
bags, shoes, and balls.
The table compares the healthcare systems in Austria, France, and Sweden in 1980, 1990, and 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the figures for Sweden in all aspects were significantly higher than those of France and Austria.
Also, unlike the other two, hospital beds in all three nations (1) witnessed steady, though small, increases in 3 years.
In 1980, Sweden had 3.6 physicians and 6.4 beds per 1000 people, and an average stay in hospitals of 23 days. Austria
had the fewest doctors per 1000 people, at 1.4, while the number of hospital beds in France was lowest, at 0.2 beds per
1000 people. Furthermore, the average hospital stay in Austria was twice as long as that of France, at 18 and 9
days respectively.
By 2000, the average number of physicians per 1000 people in Austria saw a modest increase to 1 (2) for every 1000
Austrians, while (3) the opposite was true for France’s figure, which decreased to 1.3/1000. The (4) corresponding
figure for Sweden went down from 3.8 to 3 by 1990, but (5) picked up again in 2000 to 3,8/1000. Hospital beds per 1000
people were 6.9 in Sweden, 3.7 in Austria, and 1.6 in France, (6) marking relatively large growths recorded in 3 years.
Average hospital stay days in both France and Sweden saw a statistically significant growth by 2000, to 5 and 21 days,
while the figure for Austria remained unchanged after 20 years.
ANALYSIS
1. witnessed steady, though small, increases
The number of motorbikes in Vietnam experienced a stable, though relatively small, fall between 2002
and 2004.
Số lượng xe máy ở Việt Nam trải qua sự giảm ổn định, mặc dù hơi nhỏ, từ năm 2002 đến năm 2004.
Oil manufacturing in Nigeria witnessed a generally steady, though small, increase over the period shown.
Ngược lại, nếu 2 biến động đó là tương đương nhau, ta dùng the same was true for + Noun:
By 2000, the average number of physicians per 1000 people in Austria saw a modest increase to 1 for every
1000 Austrians, and the same was generally true for Sweden's figures, which decreased slightly but then
picked up again to 3.8.
Export values of equipment went up by 13%, while the opposite was true for the figures for clothing, which witnessed a
moderate downturn by 17% by 2010.
Cách diễn đạt tương tự: France's figure, however, was quite/relatively the reverse.
4. corresponding figure
Oil manufacturing in Nigeria witnessed a generally steady, though small, increase over the period shown. The equivalent
figure for Somalia also went through similar trends.
The proportion of trains running on schedule plummeted from 2004 to 2006, but picked up again after that and
reached 97%, far exceeding the target figure.
Cách diễn đạt tương tự: increase once more; increase once again
The proportion of trains running on schedule stood at 96% in 2004, marking a relatively large growth recorded in 4 years.
Tỷ lệ tàu chạy đúng lịch trình đạt 96% trong năm 2004, đánh dấu mức tăng trưởng tương đối lớn được ghi nhận trong

The table gives information about the number of people who visited the UK from 2003 to 2008, as well as the average
duration of their stay and amount of money they spent whilst there.
Overall, the figures for all statistics witnessed steady, though modest, increases over the time period, except for the
average duration of stay which declined slightly.
In 2003, the UK received approximately 24.7 million visitors who spent around £11.9 billion. The number of visitors
continued to rise each year until peaking at approximately 32.8 million in 2007, and only dropping slightly to approximately
31.9 million in 2008. The total amount of money spent also rose most years, until it declined marginally to 15.960 in
2007. The corresponding figure for spending in the final year picked up again and peaked at £16.3 billion in 2008.
The average duration that visitors stayed in 2003 was 8.2 nights, while they spent an average of £475 per visit. The
average number of nights per visit rose slightly until 2006, before declining to an average of 7.7 nights in 2007 and 2008,
marking a relatively small drop in the final stage of the period. The average amount of money spent per visit tended to
fluctuate each year, but peaked in 2008 at £511.
The table illustrates the statistics in the arrivals of tourists in nine countries in 2009 and 2010.
Overall, France remained the most popular tourist destination among 9 countries in both years, while the opposite was
true for Hong Kong. In addition, (1) all countries, except for Turkey, China and Germany, documented no significant
changes in their figures after one year.
In both years, the figure for travellers to France remained at 76 million, which dominated the chart. The numbers of
visitors to Italy, Spain and the US were 44 million, 55 million, and 66 million respectively in 2009, (2) after which these
figures all increased by 1 million. (3) Initiating with the same figure as Spain, the UK (4) experienced a similar ascent
of 1.8%, resulting in 57 million tourists in the second year.
While Turkey and China recorded considerable growth rates of 33% and 55% respectively after one year, (5) a 12 million
augmentation from 11 million tourists in 2009 was seen in German’s figure, which was the most dramatic rise in
proportion among all aforementioned countries . By contrast, Hong Kong attracted less tourists in the second year, with
9 million compared to 10 million in 2009.

Exercise 3:
The table illustrates the number of tourists visiting the six World Heritage Sites in Australia between 1996 and 2000.
Overall, the total number of visitors to all places of interest witnessed an upward trend with the exception of Central
Eastern Rainforest Reserve and Macquarie Island. Additionally, The Great Barrier Reef was the most attractive tourist
destination over the period shown.
1,670,000 visitors paid a visit to the Great Barrier Reef, which was double the figures of those who visited Central Eastern
Rainforest Reserve in 1996, after which the number of travelers visiting the former significantly increase to 3,200,000
tourists in the year 2000 while that of the former witnessed fewer visitors in the following years and underwent a
consistent decline, falling from 810,000 in 1996 to 770,000 in 2000.
In terms of the other popular tourist destinations, initiating the same figure as Blue Mountains, 526,000 people in the
first year, Tasmania Wilderness experienced a similar ascent of nearly 60,000 people in the number of visitors, resulting
in 581,000 and 586,000, respectively in 2000. There was a about 20,000 augmentation in the quantity of tourists in
Shark Bay, which grow from 84,000 to 102,000 in 1998, but plummeted to 89,000 at the end of the year. Meanwhile,
Macquarie Island remained the least prevalent attraction in Australia, with an average of 330 visitors per year.
The table illustrates the changes in the value of certain products in the years 2009 and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that equipment (1) was the most valuable export by a wide margin. In the same vein, metal
exports saw most significant increase during the two years, (2) far surpassing any other products.
Looking at the graph, we can see that the sales of equipment in 2009 and 2010 – amounting to 10.3 billion and 11.3
billion respectively – consistently made up nearly a third of the total exports during both years. This dominance was only
challenged in 2010 by Telecommunication, when the export value in this sector reached 12.7 billion, which outstripped
Equipment by slightly over 1%, and represented a 61% rise compared to 2009. (3) Metals export values, albeit lagging
behind in 1997 at only 2.3 billion, also saw a twofold boost to (4) hit an all-time high of 5.1 billion(122%) in 2010.
Among all export products, only two saw an overall decrease in value during the same period. (5) Clothing saw its
overall decrease in its value by 17%, corresponding to a drop from 6 billion to 5 billion. (6) The Manufacturing sector
suffered an even more pronounced drop, where its exports went from 5.5 down to just 4 billion – 10% more severe than
that of clothing.

The table give information about sales of Fairtrade labelled coffee and bananas in five European countries.
SUGGESTED ANSWER
Exercise 1:
(1) by a wide margin
Exercise 3:
The tables show the amount of money earned from Fairtrade coffee and bananas in two separate years in the UK,
Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden.
It is clear that sales of Fairtrade coffee and bananas witnessed an upwards trên in all five European countries from
1999 to 2004 with the eception of the figures for banana in Belgium and Sweden. Additionally, the UK earn the highest
revenues by a wide margin on the two products.
In 1999, Switzerland had the highest sales of Fairtrade coffee, at €3 million, while revenue from Fairtrade bananas
was highest in the UK, at €15 million. By 2004, however, sales of Fairtrade coffee in the UK had risen to €20 million,
corresponding to over three times higher than Switzerland’s sales figure for Fairtrade coffee in that year. The year 2004
also saw dramatic increases in the money accrued from Fairtrade bananas in the UK and Switzerland to hit their all-time
high of €47 and €5.5 million in revenues, respectively.
Sales of the two Fairtrade products were far lower in Denmark, Belgium and Sweden. Sales of Fairtrade, albeit sawing
a small increase in sales of coffee, remained at €2 million or below in all three countries in both years. Finally, it is
noticeable that Fairtrade bananas suffer a drop, where their turnovers in Belgium and Sweden went down to hover
around €0.9-1 million in the final year.
The table shows data on quotidian oil production in four African countries from 2000 to 2004.
Overall, apart from Congo, all countries witnessed an upward trend in their daily oil output. In addition, the amount of oil
produced in Nigeria was (1) disproportionately higher than the oil production levels in the other three countries.
(2) Nigeria whose daily oil volume far outnumbered other countries produced 2 million tons of oil in the first year,
followed by Congo with 270 thousand tons. From 2001 onwards, Nigeria’s production (3) hovered between 1.9 million
and 2.3 million tons while Congo’s oil quantities fell gradually for the rest of the period and finished at 200 thousand
tons, less than 10% of Nigeria’s total.
Chad and Somalia had modest amounts of oil production in the first 3 years. While Somalia’s total production from 2000
to 2002 was 30 thousand tons, (4) Chad registered no data in the three-year course. (5) Not until 2003 did Chad record
its very first 15 thousand tons produced on a daily basis, which tripled to around 50 thousand tons in 2004. Somalia
also increased its oil production to 40 thousand tons in 2003, and then 55 thousand to ns in 2004.
ANALYSIS

SUGGESTED ANSWER
Exercise 1:
(1) disproportionately more waste than
(2) whose
(4) hovering
Exercise 3:
The table compares the sales of cell phones by five popular brands from 2006 to 2012.
Overalll, while Samsung and Apple experienced success with escalating sales, with Samsung being disproportionately
higher than other brands, the other three companies suffered dwindling revenues over the given time.
Nokia whose number of mobile phone sold far outnumbered other brands sold 345 million units in the first year.
However, this figure witnessed a downward fluctuation to 335 million units in the final year after hit an all-time high of
475 million units in 2008. Samsung, albeit ranking in the third place in the initial year, enjoyed an upswing from 117 to
395,5 million to become the most popular brand in 2012.
Turning to other categories, no data was registered in Apple in the initial year. Not until a year later did it record its
very first 2.3 million units. However, its sale saw a substantial growth to become the third most prevalent phone in the
year 2008. Motorola was the second most prevalent item in 2006 with 210 million units sold. After 6 months of gradual
decrease, this brand sold only 28 million items in final year, which was the same as that of phones from Ericson whose
figure was no more than 102 million units over the given time.
The line graph compares how much margarine, low fat and reduced spreads, and butter were consumed between 1981
and 2007.
Overall, the consumptions of all three kinds of spreads experienced significant fluctuations and general falls over the
period given. Moreover, although (1) starting from the lowest base and being used much later than the other two, low
fat and reduced spreads (2) ranked first in consumption in 2007.
In 1981, there was (3) a striking difference in how many grams of margarine and butter were consumed, with the
figures for margarine and butter respectively standing at 140 and 90 grams. Whereas the consumption of butter slightly
increased and then dramatically dropped from 1981 to 1991, that of margarine showed an opposite pattern as it went
down first and then up until (4) the two lines crossed each other at 100 grams in 1991. (5) There was a steady decrease
in the amount of butter used to 50 grams in 2007.
(6) Only until 1996 were low fat and reduced spreads eaten, with the figure standing at 10 grams. Over the next 5 years,
the figure (7) reached a high of over 80 grams in 2001. However, (8) the final years saw a slight drop in the consumption
of low fat and reduced spreads to over 70 grams in 2007.

chuộng nhất (100 gam) vào năm 1991.
Cấu trúc: There + tobe + (a/an) + danh từ chỉ xu hướng (fall, growth) + of (+ con số) + in + the amount/percentage/
number/ etc. of Noun

6. Only until 1996 were low fat and reduced spreads eaten
Cách sử dụng: Đây là cấu trúc đảo ngữ (nâng cao): (Only) Until + [time period] + auxiliary V + S + V

The line chart indicates the sales of five different kinds of jam from 2009 to 2014.
Overall, it can be seen that there was an upward trend in the sales of all types of jam except for plum during the given
years. In addition, strawberry remained the most popular kind with the highest figure in most of the period.
Starting at 3.2 million units in 2009, the sales of strawberry jam quickly increased and reached a peak of 7 million at the
end of the period. Similarly, the figure for raspberry witnessed the same pattern in which its sales grew considerably and
stood at 5.5 million in 2014. The two lines crossed each other in 2012 but as we can see, strawberry jam once again
overtook raspberry one to become the most sold.
Although starting from the lowest base, the sales of grape jam sold went up considerably and only until 2011 did the
figures rank third, at 2.2 million. Moving on, 2.5 million units of plum were sold in 2009. However, there was a striking
difference between the figure for grapes and this number as it gradually dropped throughout the period and finally, no
unit was recorded in 2014. Regarding cherry, its sales saw a fluctuation around 2 million in the first four years. Then, the
figure reached a high of 3 million units sold before dropping to 2.5 million in 2014.
The graph illustrates (1) demographic figures of Australians born in different parts of the world between 1976 and 2011.
In general, the percentage of Australian people who were born abroad fluctuated significantly over the measured
period. Additionally, while the percentage of Australians born in Asia (2) took an upswing over a period of 35 years, the
proportion of Australians born in the UK declined steadily.
In 1976, the percentage of UK born Australians was about 14%, which was almost (3) three times higher than/ triple the
figure of those born in Asia. Over the following 35 years, (4) this dominance was challenged as the percentage of (5) the
former / Australians born in the UK fell to 5%, while (6) the latter / those born in Asia (7) witnessed an opposite pattern,
rising steadily to around 15%. Meanwhile, the figures for Australians born in other regions fluctuated significantly over
the period, but rose overall to around 13% in 2011.
The total figure for all Australians born abroad fluctuated over the 35 - year period beginning at around 29% in 1976,
decreasing to its (8) all-time low of 23% during the late eighties and (9) early nineties. After that, the number increased
steadily and reached its peak of 32% in the final year.
ANALYSIS
1. demographic figure
2. take an upturn/upswing
Thành phần:
• upturn/upswing (noun): sự tăng/cải thiện/đi lênbase (n) vị trí khởi đầu
Ví dụ tương tự:
The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population from 1950 to 2050.
(Actual test, 11-01-2020)
Unlike other numbers, the figure for New Zealand's citizens younger than 14 years old took an upswing in the final
years of the period in question.
witness an increase.
Cách diễn đạt mang nghĩa trái ngược: take a downturn/downswing ≈ experience a downward trend: có xu hướng
giảm xuống.
Cách sử dụng: Khi miêu tả số liệu, người học cần quan sát kỹ những xu hướng đặc biệt bởi chúng ta không chỉ đơn thuần
đề cập sự tăng/giảm kèm con số, mà cần làm nổi bật những xu hướng đặc biệt, như khi A gấp hai/ba/bốn/… lần B:
The chart below gives information about the age of women in Australia when they give birth to their first child in 1966,
1986 and 2006.
(Actual test, 16-01-2020)
The charts below show the percentage of people working in different sectors in town A and town B in 1960 and 2010.
(Actual test, 01-02-2020)
Participation in football represented over 60% in 2017, three times higher than the figure for baseball.
However, as three years passed, while the former went through a downturn to 42%, the latter rose
drastically to over two-fifths.
The graph below shows the percentage of people in different age groups in one city who attended music concerts
between 2010 and 2015.
(Actual test, 05-03-2020)
7. an all-time low/high
Dịch nghĩa: điểm thấp nhất/cao nhất xuyên suốt cả giai đoạn
Cách sử dụng: Động từ thường đi cùng với cụm danh từ này là decrease to / fall to / hit an all-time low:
More and more young people from 16 to 24 years old went to music concerts as the number rose to its all-time high,
at 70% in the final year.
Cách diễn đạt mang nghĩa trái ngược: rise to / reach an all-time high

SUGGESTED ANSWER
Exercise 1:
(1) took a downswing
Exercise 2:
(1) The line graph gives demographic information about the number of marriages in the UK from 1951
to 2001.
(2) In addition, while the number of first marriages decreased, remarriages took an upswing.
(3) In 1991, there were 300,000 first marriages across the United Kingdom, which was two times higher
than the number of remarriages.
(4) However, from the late nineties, while the former hit an all-time low of 250,000, the latter witnessed an
opposite pattern, rising to 200,000 in the final year.
Exercise 3:
The line chart compares demographic information about how many people living in Australia used Chinese, Arabic,
Italian and Greek as their first language from 1986 to 2011.
Overall, while the figures for Chinese and Arabic took an upwind, the opposite was true for Italian and Greek during the
given period. In addition, the number of Australians speaking Chinese as their first language was highest after
25 years.
In 1986, Greek was used by 225,000 people in Australia as their first language, which was the highest and nearly
tripled the figure for Italian by 75,000 people. In the next 20 years, these two figures witnessed a similar pattern in
which they both dropped gradually by roughly 35,000 people. After 5 years, while the figure for Greek hit an all-time
low of 175,000, that for Italian remained unchanged.
Starting at approximately 100,000 in 1986, the number of Australian people speaking Chinese as their first language
increased steeply, challenging the dominance of the Greek language and reaching its peak of 350,000 in the final
year. Likewise, a considerable growth of 100,000 people from the initial number of 50,000 was also experienced in the
figure for Arabic after 25 years.

The graph below shows the percentage of people in different age groups in one city who attended music concerts
between 2010 and 2015.
(Actual test, 05-03-2020)
Overall, it is obvious that (2) music concerts became more popular with young attendees, whereas the popularity of
going to such events decreased as age advanced.
At 40% in 2010, the percentage of the youngest age group grew to 55% in 2011, and then continued to rise to 70% in
2015. (3) The figure for those from 25 to 44 years old, despite having a higher starting point, dipped to 40%, before
(4) recovering to its initial value in 2012 and rising steadily to about 53% in 2015.
(5) Regarding the 45-54 year-olds and the over-75 year-olds, from 2010 to 2011, the figure for the former dropped
from 40% to 32%, while that of the latter doubled to 20%. However, by 2012, these figures had both fallen to 30% and
10%, before (6) regained its upward streak to nearly 50% and 20% respectively. Meanwhile, there was a slight rise in the
percentage of 55 to 64 year-old concert goers from 2010 to 2013, followed by a gradual decrease to around 23%
by 2015.

Exercise 1: Fill in the blanks with the given words.
The line chart illustrates the percentage of visitors to four types of places in Scotland, including aquariums, castles,
zoos and festivals over a period of (1) ________________.
It is clear that while castles and zoos (2)______________ young attendees, whereas (3)______________________ aquariums
and festivals decreased during the period. It is also notable that castles were the most frequently visited tourist attraction
in Scotland for most of the period.
In 1980, the percentage of tourists who chose to visit castles was nearly 25%, which was significantly higher than
the figure for zoos, at only 10%. Over the following 20 years, (4)_________________ increased dramatically to reach a
peak of about 45% in 1995, followed by a considerable drop to just over 30% in 2010. By contrast, despite some minor
fluctuations around 10 to 15% during the first 20 years, the figure for zoo visitors then (5)__________________ to 20% in
the final year.
Looking at the other attractions, festivals were the most popular in 1980 with 30% of tourists choosing this, compared
to 20% visiting aquariums. Over the next five years, the percentage of travellers paying a visit to an aquarium reached a
peak of nearly 35% in 1985 before decreasing back to (6)___________________ 20% five years later. Since then, this figure
continued to fall significantly to just under 10% in 2010. Meanwhile, the percentage of festival visitors experienced a
gradual decrease throughout the period, ending up at roughly 25% at the end of the period.

The line graph illustrate the proportion of England tourists to different tourist attractions in Brighton from 1980 to 2010.
Overall, while Brighton Art gallery was less and less popular with tourists, the popularity of Pavilion and Pier witnessed
an upward trend in the number of visitors. Additionally, the quantity of tourists participating in festivals remained
relatively stable over time.
At 30% in 1980, the percentage of people going to Festival declined gradually to 25%, and then regained its upward
streak to 28% in the last year. The figure for Pavilion, after a slight rise over 5 years, started to go up significantly to its
all-time high of about 50% of the total number of tourists to become the most famous attractions among four. Toward
the end of the given time, this figure experienced an downward trend to finish at 30%; however, it still ranked first in
the chart.
Turning to Pavilion and Pier, while the former accounted for more than 20% in the first year, just 10% of visitors visited
the latter. The figure for those going to Pavilion, albeit increasing to its peak to 37% as the most preferred location in
1985, decreased back to its initial value in 1990 before a significant drop of over 10% in the final year. Meanwhile, a
fluctuation in the quantity of Pier visitors was seen during the first 20 years before its figure went up to over 20% in 2010.

The graph illustrates the proportion of exports to 4 different countries from Australia between 1990 and 2012.
Overall, two out of four nations witnessed an upward trend, with the export to China experiencing the most
disproportionate increase and India always being the smallest export market.
Looking at the chart in more detail, over 25% of Australian products were exported to Japan, which headed the list in the
first year, followed by the US with 10%. From 1990 to 2012, while the export to Japan experienced an gradual decrease
to finish at 18% at the end, the proportion of exports to the US, albeit bouncing back to initial point after a drop in 1995,

The pie charts give information about employment in three sectors, including manufacturing, sales, and services, in
town A and town B (1) over the course of 50 years. (2) All figures are in percentage terms.
Overall, in town A, service-related jobs became more popular than those in other sectors and (3) constituted the largest
share in 2010. Meanwhile, in town B, despite the growth of jobs in the service and sales sectors, (4) the proportion of
employees in the manufacturing industry was still disproportionately large over the given period of time.
In town A, 41% of all jobs in 1960 were in manufacturing, while the sales and service sectors made up much lower
percentages, of around 30% for each. By 2010, the percentage of service-related jobs more than doubled, while the
percentage of jobs in the two other industries halved. Specifically, (5) the figure for the service sector took the lead
instead of the sector of manufacturing as in 1960.
In town B, the percentage of service-related jobs also rose, but less significantly than that of town A, at 10% in 1960 and
25% in 2010. Meanwhile, the manufacturing employment rate was still the highest, at 53% in 2010, despite a drop of
nearly one-third after 1960. There was almost no change in sales-related jobs as the number saw a very slight increase,
from 20% in 1960 to 22% in 2010.
ANALYSIS
1. over the course of 50 years
Cách sử dụng: Khi không cần đề cập đến khoảng thời gian chính xác, người học có thể dùng cụm over the course of +
Number, bên cạnh những cụm từ quen thuộc khác như over a period of 50 years, over a 50-year period, during/within
50 years.
Despite consistent growths in the first half of the period, the number of young people from in their late twenties and early
thirties going to the cinema monthly fluctuated sharply over the course of 5 year,s starting from 2006.

4. the proportion of employees in the manufacturing industry was still disproportionately large
Participation in book clubs was disproportionately small 5 years after its moderate increase in 1985.
đồ như reach its disproportionately high:
The amount of coffee manufactured in Brazil in the final year reached its disproportionate high compared to

Brazil was the only country whose coffee production took the lead every year throughout the period.

The pie chart illustrates the percentages of water used for different purposes in Sydney, Australia (1) in 1997 and 2007.
All figures are (2) presented in percentages.
Overall, it can be seen that the figures for all sectors witnessed a downward trend after 10 years, except for the service
industry. In addition, the food industry (3) accounted for the highest proportion in both years.
In 1997, the percentage of water used for the food industry (4) was the largest, with 48%. This was followed by the figure
for household use with nearly a fifth of the total water consumed. The percentage of service industry and manufacturing
was almost identical, at 13% and 15%, respectively. It can be noticed that water was least consumed for the building
industry purpose, with a minimal percentage of 5%.
Despite a marginal drop of 7%, the food industry (5) still dominated other sectors after a decade. At the same time, the
percentage of water used for the service industry experienced a significant growth to 25%, surpassing the household
use (21%) to rank second. Meanwhile, there was a slight decline in the figures for manufacturing and building industry,
at 11% and 2%, respectively.

The pie charts illustrate four common types of accommodation that people chose when on holiday over the course of
20 years. All figures are in percentage terms.
Overall, the most popular choice of accommodation when on holiday was to stay with family, despite a downward trend
over the twenty year period. In contrast, while renting apartments and staying in hotels became more popular over the
years, camping became less popular.
Staying in hotels and renting apartments were the least popular accommodation choices among holiday-makers in
1988, at 15% and 7% respectively. These figures gradually increased over the following twenty years, both reaching 22%
by 2008 and the percentage of travelers choosing hotels as their accommodation constituted the second largest share
in 1998 and 2008.

The pie charts below show information about where coffee is produced, consumed & where its profit goes.
(Actual test, 25-11-2017)
The given pie charts demonstrate the global production and consumption of coffee as well as the (1) profit distribution
among business segments relating to coffee.
Overall, South America (2) is the leading coffee manufacturer while Europe is the greatest consumer among the given
countries. Additionally, delivery companies earn more financial return than others that do coffee-related business
financial return.
Firstly, in terms of production figures, South America generates the highest of the total amount, with 44%, followed by
Africa, Asia and Central America with the relatively similar percentage (19%, 18% and 17% respectively), (3) leaving
Oceania far behind (2%).
As for consumption, (4) the top coffee lovers go to Europe (55%) and other regions/countries (27%) whereas coffee
intakes in North America (11%) and Japan (7%) are much lower. Interestingly, Europe and North America do not involve
in producing coffee but their consumption is considerable.
When it comes to profit, (5) explorers and producers gain only 10% each while shippers and sellers are the main
beneficiaries, with 55% and 25% in the same order. Again, those who trade and transport coffee products are not involved
in the production process, but they reach 80% of the total profit.

thay thế cho cụm từ khá phổ biến “ have the highest figure/ percentage”.
Cách diễn đạt khác: be the dominant coffee manufacturer ~ be the top coffee producer ~ be the chief coffee provider
While Africa is the leading country in terms of forest coverage, it produce the least amount of timber among regions.
North America is the leading timber production and constitute one- fourth of the total wood quantity in the world.

SUGGESTED ANSWER
Exercise 1:
(1) timber distribution

Exercise 2:
(1) The given pie charts compare the distribution of voluntary work in different organizations in 2008
and 2014.
(2) Overall, while the percentage of people volunteering for the environment, healthcare services and
sports activities followed an upward trend, the reverse pattern was seen in the figure for the
remaining groups.
(3) Besides, healthcare organizations were left far behind with the least volunteers in both years.
(4) In the year 2008, educational organizations were the leading groups with the number of participants
accounting for 24%, in comparison with 21% and 18% of people volunteering in environmental and art
projects respectively.
(5) Meanwhile, the quantity of volunteers worked in sports organizations and other ones represented the
same with 15% each.
(6) Voluntary work related to healthcare, however, was the least common choice among people, with a
mere 7% participants.
(7) After 6 years, volunteers who partook in educational organizations decreased to 17%.
Exercise 3:
The two pie charts illstrate household expenditure distribution on goods and services in 1950 and 2010.
Overall, all categories witnessed an upward trend with the exception of spending for housing and education, with health
care always being the least invested over time.
In 2010, the largest proportion of expenditure went to food whereas in 1950 it was on housing, with food for just 11.2%.
There is a great difference in terms of housing expenditure between the two years. In 1950 72.1% of the total household
budget went towards housing, compared to only 22% in 2010.
In 1950, the leading expenditure went to housing, which was by far higher than other categories with 72,1%, followed
by spending for food with 11.2%. However, after 60 years, people had to allocate 34% of their income for food while
expenditure on accommodation experienced a disproportionate decrease to 22%.
Regarding other items, Other major categories like healthcare, transportation and education and expense from others
contributed comparatively less to the overall household expenses in 1950, accounting for under 6.6%. However, over a
60-years period, except education with a slight drop of 0.3 % from 6.6% to 6.3%, people spent more for all categories,
with the spending on transport and others increasing to 14% and 19.2% respectively. Health care, albeit witnising an
upward trend, was left far behind with 2.4% in 1950 and 4.5% in 2010.
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of males and females between 18 and 20 taking part in different activities. (1)
The statistics were recorded in one month in 2015.
Overall, the most popular activity for young males was football, while cycling was most favored by women. In addition,
(2) with the exception of cycling, there were (3) profound differences between the participation rates of males and
females in all activities.
Cycling and swimming were preferred by females to males. To be more precise, about 35% of women participated in
swimming whereas only 20% of their male (4) counterparts took part in this activity in 2015. (5) The difference between
the percentages of males and females cycling was less pronounced as 40% of females cycled in this month, just about
5% higher than the figure for males.
Regarding other activities, whereas the figure for females playing football was relatively low, at approximately 14%, over
a half of men aged 18-20 were active in this sport, (6) making it the most popular sporting activity with young male
adults. Additionally, the percentage of males participating in basketball was over 30%, (7) threefold that of females.
The similar pattern could be witnessed in the figures for hockey, with over 10% of men and 3% of women taking part in
this sport.
ANALYSIS
1. The statistics were recorded in one month in 2015

With the exception of Finland, the other countries witnessed rises in the use of sustainable sources of energy throughout
the period shown.
Cách diễn đạt tương tự: except for ~ apart from ~ not including
Lưu ý: apart from có 2 nghĩa. Nghĩa thứ nhất là tương tự with the exception of (trừ ra). Nghĩa thứ 2 lại là bên cạnh
(~ besides, in addition to) tức là không loại trừ mà bao gồm luôn cả đối tượng đang nói tới.
The difference between the percentages of males and females cycling was less pronounced.
There were profound differences between the production of paper/packaging and wood pulp over the course of 20
years. The figure for paper and packaging started off at 250 million tonnes, about 100 million higher than that for
wood pulp. While the former increased slightly in the first half of the period and then grew sharply, the latter went
down and only picked up again to 120 million in 2000.

The proportion of female members of the Parliament in Germany took up 16%, while their male counterparts

The bar chart illustrates the number of visitors to four museums in London.
Overall, the number of visits to the British Museum remained high, while the National Museum was the least popular.
Furthermore, August was (1) the busiest month for visiting museums.
Going to museums became less popular by the end of the year. After (6) reaching its disproportionate high in August
compared with the other three museums, the British museum attracted fewer and fewer people, though it remained
(7) the most chosen destination with 450,000 guests in December. (8) During the same time frame from September to
December, except for the National museum which were chosen by the unchanging number of visitors, the History and
Science museums' data both (9) experienced a pullback to 250,000 and 300,000 guests respectively.
ANALYSIS
1. the busiest month for visiting museums
Cách dùng: Đây là cách diễn đạt khác của “the number of visitors to museums in this month was highest".

Cách diễn đạt khác: to be the same; share almost no difference/distinction; to be very similar
Cách dùng: Tương tự cụm từ take the lead, have a narrow lead cũng mang nghĩa dẫn đầu, nhưng do bởi tính từ narrow

5. the time of the year that attracted significantly more visitors to museums was in August
Cách sử dụng: Đây là cấu trúc mở rộng của (1) Câu này còn có thể viết là “August was the time of the year that attracted
significantly more visitors to museums”.
(Cấu trúc: The time of the month/year/… + attracted + N + tobe + in/on ngày/tháng/năm)
The time of each week that attracted significantly more movie-goers was on Saturday.
The number of selected candidates from Oklahoma suddenly went up from 1994 to 2000.

for River Seine by 2030.
during the same time frame để mở đầu câu tiếp theo dành cho B:
The number of Australian people speaking Chinese as their first language increased steeply to reach its peak
