Myself Prof. (Mrs.) Susan S. Mathew and am the Coordinator of this course. I along with my team mates,
Co-coordinator Dr. K. K. Jain and Dr. A. S. Walkey would like to welcome you to register for the Massive
Open Online Course on ‘Basic Instructional Methods”.

This Swayam MOOC course is is planned for about 20 hours of learning effort and intended to provide
learning experiences to use basic instructional methods effectively For participating in this course,
teachers of any discipline in technical institutionssuch as Engineering and Polytechnic colleges,
Pharmacy, Architecture and Management institutions, are eligible. Aspiring teachers having technical
background can also register for the course. The course will be especially useful for those teachers who
are just beginning their careers. Even if one has been a teacher for a long time, this course will help in
reflecting upon and analyzing what one has been doing, and improving the same. You will be getting an
exposure to various basic instructional methods through several video lectures, video demonstrations,
text content, discussion forum, assignments, and self-assessment tools.
This course is expected to be completed in four weeks of duration. It will be beneficial if you have
undergone MOOC on “Learning and Instruction’ designed and conducted by our Institute, prior to taking
up this course, though we will be covering the main concepts of it in the initial sessions of this course.
