READING REMEDIATION LESSON: READING WORDS WITH MEDIAL /e/ SOUND
I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session, the learners are expected to:
1. Identify and read words with medial /e/ sound
II. SUBJECT MATTER: Reading words with Medial /e/ sound
Main Story: Ten Wise Men
REFERENCE: LAPG in English for Grade Two learners (Quarter 3 – Week 7)
MATERIALS: LAPG book, PPT, DLP, Laptop and other audio-visual materials
III. PROCEDURE:
1. PRE-READING ACTIVITIES
A. ACTIVATING PRIOR KNOWLEDGE/DRILL: (2-3 minutes). The teacher will flash the
pictures with initial /e/ words. The teacher will call the pupil to click the correct word from
the given pictures.

Review (Building a rapport with the
learners to be remediated. Making them feel comfortable and ready for the 30-minute reading
remediation session)
Singing a song entitled “Pen Pineapple Pen”
1. Do you have a pen? Have you seen a pen?
2. If you have seen a lost pen. What will you do?
2. DURING READING ACTIVITIES:
A. 1. MODELLING: (Teacher model the target sounds – medial /e/ sound.

3. INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE: (Let each learner sound out the target sounds)

C. WORD TEST
Activity 1: Choose Me Right (Look at the picture and listen. Choose the word. Pupils will
choose and click the correct word from the given pictures)

Activity 2: Hear Me Right (Pupils will be given words with medial e sound. The teacher will
pronounce the words and they will raise the correct word.)
1. The first word is men.

Activity 3: Dice and Read (Pupils will form a circle. Each pupil will toss the dice then they
will read the top word of the box.)
D. Reading a new story: LAPG story: “Ten Wise Men”
(The teacher introduces a new book providing information about the content,
how the language is structured in that particular book)
Motive Question: How many men are outside the den? Where are the ten men?

E. Guided Practice: (Teacher together with the learners read the new story “Ten Wise
Men”)

A. PHONIC STORY TEST
A. Comprehension Questions: Read and answer the question. Choose and encircle
the letter of the correct answer.

B. ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY: (Teacher gives the LAPG story: “Ten Wise Men” and have the learner
compiled the story to his reading portfolio. This story will be read by the learner at home for mastery. It is
important to note that there is a strong partnership with the learner’s parent on the agreement that the child
will be followed up and will be guided with the LAPG story reading activity at home ) This story will be used
on the next session on “Re-reading of previously learned LAPG Story.
