Las Science 8 Mod1 Q3
Las Science 8 Mod1 Q3
This module explains the difference between the particle nature of matter of
the three states of matter namely, solid, liquid, gas. It also tackles the different
physical changes of matter. This concept helps students to identify the process
In this module on the particle nature of matter, the activities have been sequenced in such
away that the concepts are develop gradually from the first to the last activity. Its start with the
students being acquainted with the example of state of matter found in their home. The second
activity allows them to study the physical changes of matter. In activity three students begin to

Key Concepts
From the idea that matter is made up of particles you were creating your own mental
picture and constructing models, which are diagrams that represents of what is happening at a
level beyond what your eyes can see. This is what we call the sub-microscopic model of
representing an idea and concept which you cannot observe with your senses or even aided by a
simple microscope.
SOLID
Have definite shapes and volume
Particles are packed closely together
Particles are held together by strong forces
Particles cannot move around
LIQUID
