Fundamental Counting Principle, Combination, Permutation, and Probability.


1. In a class there are 26 girls and 24 girls. The teacher wants to select two (2) students to
represent the class. In how many ways can the teacher make this selection?

2. A person wants to buy one special pen, one ball pen and one mechanical pencil
from a bookstore. If there are 18 special pen varieties, 12 ball pen varieties and 15
mechanical pencil varieties, in how many ways can he select one of each?

3. From among the 55 teachers in a High school, one principal, one vice-principal and
one head teacher are to be appointed. In how many ways this can be done?

4. There are 5 different colors for a shirt in a rack and there are 6 different styles of pants.
In how many ways can you pair 1 shirt and 1 pants?

5. A library has 55 history books, 90 fantasy novels, and 65 science related books. In how
many ways can you select 1 book for each genre?

6. In how many ways can you select a 5 different representatives in a class with 35
students?

7. There are 35 students in a class, what is the probability that one student will be picked?

8. Suppose there are 4 red boxes, 3 blues boxes and 5 green boxes ready for a raffle
draw.
a. What are the chances that a red box will be drawn in one draw?

b. What are the chances that a blue box will be drawn in one draw?

c. What are the chances that a green box will be drawn in one draw?

9. If you were to roll the dice one time what is the probability it will land on a 3?

10. If you were to roll the dice one time what is the probability it will NOT land on a 5?

11. If you were to roll the dice one time, what is the probability of it landing on an even
number?
