Types of Vacuum Pump

LIQUID RING VACUUM PUMP (WET - LRVP)

Sealing is obtained with a liquid ring

OIL LUBRICATED ROTARY VANE PUMP - BUSCH R5 (SLIDING VANE)

Sealing is obtained with metal-metal contact and an oil film

DRY SCREW VACUUM PUMP - BUSCH COBRA (DRY SCREW)

Sealing is obtained with low tolerances between the screws

DRY WING VACUUM PUMP - HORI (DRY WING)

Sealing is obtained with a graphite layer

DRY Pump general Advantages

• Compatible with oxygenated products, alcohol and ethanol

• No contamination of the liquid absorbent

• 50% less power consumption

• No glycol or oil waste disposal

• Eliminate glycol pump, circuit, separator, heat exchanger

• Cooling not required for hot environmental conditions

• Smaller overall footprint for the VRU

HORI pump additional advantages
• Larger capacity

• No injection

• Low noise and vibration

• No costly overhaul and

maintenance

• ATEX certification

• Suitable for desert harsh

environmental conditions
(high T, sands, etc.)
LRVP - Disadvantages

• Higher CAPEX

• Higher OPEX (high e-power consumption, glycol replacement)

• More complex VRU design with separator vessel and glycol

circuit

• Glycol cooling required in hot climate areas (expensive)
