COMPUTING FOR BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS I (CSC 103)
Course Objective:
The course is designed to give students the competence in use of basic computing techniques including operating systems, word
processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics and databases. They will be taught that how these techniques are integrated together
and also the use of Web techniques provided by MS office.
Being students of the management program, this course will aim to give students the technical and management insight needed to
fulfill their roles in this age of information. To give students the understanding of the way office tools can be used to bring in
flexibility to the solutions of the problems that are frequently encountered in the working environment.
To manage and analyze the large amount of data in a business organization. To support managers in decision-making process that can
lead to maintain a competitive edge.
Teaching Strategy:
The course will consist of Lab assignments, Quizzes, Midterm and Final Exam. We will be delivering practical execution and live
demonstration of all formulas in lecture sessions. Students will be given group project in which they will choose a firm and will create
its database in MS.Access using database tools including tables, queries, forms and reports while they will use MS.Excel to create a
single large database on which different Mathematical, Statistical, Financial, Text, Lookup and other functions taught in class will be
used.
The Lahore School Regulations on Student Code of Behavior specifies penalties for
plagiarism in
reports, research papers and presentations in courses taken and in articles published while
studying
at the Lahore School.
