This is a relatively new trend in bear making. These are miniature crocheted and fully jointed teddy bears made with lots of tiny crochet stitches using a variety of threads or thin yarns. Some of them show off the crochet stitches and the ones made from mohair or acrylic yam can be brushed for a wonderful fuzzy look. These bears are not toys, they are wonderful woks of art for teddy bears collectors. T have included in this book six patterns. They are my own creations. The first two are very easy: the bears have straight arms and legs. The next two have bent arms, and the last two are a little more complicated. Each of these patterns will add to your knowledge and enjoyment of the art of thread teddy bears. The instructions are easy to follow, each patter has a diagram to assemble the bear and color photographs of the finished bear. ‘The pattems include complete step-by-step instructions to crochet and assemble the bears, a list of materials and supplies needed and several photos. You should know how to crochet. The basics of erocheting are enough: chain, single crochet, slipstiteh, inerease and decrease The pattems call for a specific thread, but you can substitute it if you like. If you use a thicker or thinner thread, the bear will be a different size from the one on the pattern. Remember also that if you change the thread you must use the appropriate crochet hook, ‘one that gives you tight stitches, so there are no holes between the stitches. This way the stuffing won't show through the stitches. have suggested colors according to the bears I designed, but the color choice is yours. ‘You will also need sewing needles to embroider the noses and claws and a larger needle to join the pices. The instructions say to stuff when you get to the last round of each piece, but if the hole is too small for you, you can stuff before you get to the last round. 1 use the back of my crochet hook to introduce the stuffing.
