• Hábitat Of penguins
Penguins are almost exclusive inhabitants of the southern hemisphere of the planet, except for
species adapted to equatorial life in the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador).

The species located on the Antarctic continent represent 80% of the region's biomass, although
during mating seasons they can migrate to much warmer latitudes. Currently there are penguin
colonies on the coasts of New Zealand, Antarctica, Argentina, Chile, Peru, South Africa, the
southern region of Australia and the subatarctic islands.

• Where penguins and how long do they live

Penguins feed basically on fish and plankton. They generally live between 10 and 20
years in colonies where there can be thousands of specimens living together.

• Cause le the extinction of the penguins

Penguin populations are increasingly reduced due to the impact of climate change,
overfishing, predators and pollution, among other factors.

• Why are penguins in danger of extinction

Many penguins live in areas most affected by climate change." Antarctic species are
especially endangered; the continent has lost some three billion tons of ice since
the early 1990s.25 Jul 2022

• What efforts are being made to conserve

and protect endangered penquins
If this is done, reducing the number of predators and introduced invasive
species, as well as applying appropriate management to reduce the impact of
tourism, can contribute to the survival of penguin colonies.
