About:
In a landmark initiative aimed at propelling students of all streams towards a globally
immersive educational experience, the Department of Postgraduate Studies in Management
(MBA) at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore is hosting a two-day
event “Marketverse” on the 22nd and 23rd March 2024.

“Marketverse” is a vibrant blend of culture, entrepreneurship and management battles,


drawing participants from various institutions in and around Mangalore featuring cultural
extravaganza, a variety of food stalls, outlets of a variety of products for entrepreneurial
ventures, and intense management competitions. It also focuses on fostering digital
collaboration with a dynamic platform for the participants to compete, connect and grow.

Management Events

Rules and Regulations:


1. Number of participants
• Treasure hunt - 2 members per team
• Business simulation - 3 members per team
• Mad ads - 5 members per team
• All the participants are expected to carry valid college ID card.
2. On spot registration is available.
3. The registration desk will open at 8:00 am
4. Participants in business simulation must carry their laptops, pen drives, and internet
devices.
5. Judges’ decision will be final.
6. Attire: Formals (Except Treasure Hunt and Mad Ads)

1. Treasure Hunt
A treasure hunt is a thrilling adventure where clues lead the way to a hidden prize! Team up
with fellow adventurers, combining your wits and skills to unravel riddles, decipher codes, and
follow cryptic maps through hidden corners and secret passageways. Each step brings you
closer to the coveted treasure.

2. Business Simulation
Business simulation games, also known as tycoon games, invite you to step into the shoes of
a virtual entrepreneur, CEO, or manager. Buckle up for a dynamic ride where you navigate
market fluctuations, manage resources, and compete against rivals. Every decision hold
weight, leading to exhilarating profit and nail-biting moments of risk.

3. Mad Ad’s
Break the rules and challenge established norms. Imagine ads that grab your attention with
wild visuals and over-the-top humor. Imagine a hamster driving a monster truck to sell
toothpaste, or a talking cactus arguing with a lawnmower about who gets to trim the hedges.

Cultural Competition

1. Beat Blast: "Unleash Your Rhythm, Ignite the Stage


(Group dance)
Embark on a mesmerizing journey through rhythm and movement, as dance troupes weave
together a tale of exploration and discovery. The stage becomes a vibrant treasure island, alive
with the beats of unity and choreographic brilliance. Get ready to be captivated by the synergy
of artistry and exploration in this one-of-a-kind spectacle where every step is a clue, and every
move leads to the ultimate treasure of collective creativity. Let the rhythm guide you on this
treasure hunt of dance!

Rules & Regulations:

• Maximum time allotted 4+1 min.


• Minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 members in the team.
• Form of dance is western.
• Vulgarity in any form will not be entertained.
• Submission of track must be made in advance to the respective coordinators.
• Judgment will be based on qualities like choreography, coordination, expression and
costumes.

2. Melody Quest: The Hunt for Hidden Harmonies


(Solo singing competition)
Let your vocal prowess shine as you navigate through a treasure trove of melodies. Unearth
the hidden gems of your voice, captivating the audience with each note. So, tune up, set sail,
and let your voice be the ultimate treasure in this enchanting competition that combines the
magic of music with the excitement of a treasure hunt. May the notes lead you to victory!

Rules & Regulations:


• Maximum Time allotted is 3+1 min.
• Musical instruments or Karaoke is allowed but not considered for the judgment.
• The number of accompanists allowed is one.

3. Capturing Treasures: Unveiling Moments beyond the Hunt!
(Photography)
Whether it's a hidden corner of the city or a secret spot in nature, let your lens be the guide to
unearth the treasures waiting to be revealed. This competition invites photographers to blend
their artistic vision with the excitement of exploration, turning each click into a piece of a
larger puzzle. So, grab your camera, embrace the spirit of adventure, and join us in this quest
to capture the beauty that lies beneath the surface.

Rules & Regulations:


• Time allotted is 3 hours
• The participants have to get their own digital cameras and memory card and handover it to
the respective coordinators before the commencement of the contest for formatting the
memory card.
• Mobile phones, Drones and other forms of image capturing technologies are not allowed.
• The participants shall capture 3 pictures on the theme announced on the spot by the judges.
• No mixing, matching or morphing of the photographs will be permitted.
• Image manipulation software such as Photoshop, Gimp etc. is prohibited.
• The photographs are to be mailed to the given mail-Id on the spot.

3. Rhythmic rivalry: Let the moves speak!


(Freestyle)
Participants will unleash their creativity and ingenuity in a thrilling quest to unlock hidden
treasures of expression. The stage becomes a playground of imagination, as performers
navigate through challenges, embracing the unexpected twists and turns of the treasure hunt
theme. Expect a kaleidoscope of talent, blending seamlessly with the excitement of discovery
in this one-of-a-kind freestyle competition that promises to be an unforgettable adventure for
both participants and spectators alike. Ready, set, freestyle!

• Each participant will face off each other one on one.
• Song will be played on the spot
• One min each
• Tracks won't be played once again or restarted

Transition Threads - Campus to Corporate

About:
The “Campus to Corporate” aims to facilitate the transition from student life to the corporate
world by providing a platform for students to showcase their professional attire and
interpersonal skills. Our objective is to foster a deeper understanding of corporate
expectations regarding attire and behavior while promoting creativity and individuality.

Theme: Campus to Corporate (Group Event)


Number of Participants: Minimum 5, Maximum 8.

Rules & Regulations:

• Eligibility: The "Campus to Corporate" is open to all students.


• Theme: Participants are encouraged to adhere to the theme announced for the event,
which focuses on the transition from campus fashion to professional attire. Creativity within
the theme is highly appreciated.
• Attire: Participants are required to showcase professional attire suitable for the corporate
world. Accessories such as jewelry, bags, and shoes should complement the professional
look.
• Registration: Participants must register for the event on or before March 18, 2024. Late
registrations will not be accepted. The music chosen for the event must be submitted to the
coordinators by March 20, 2024.
• Backstage Protocol: Only registered participants and authorized personnel are allowed
backstage during the event.
• Judging Criteria: Outfits will be evaluated based on professionalism, adherence to the
theme, presentation, creativity, and overall impact.
• Dress Code: Participants are encouraged to dress professionally for the occasion. Attire must
be suitable for a corporate environment while reflecting personal style and professionalism.

Student Corner- “Where learning Meets Experience”


Student Corner" is not just an event; it's an opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to
showcase their creativity, innovation, and business acumen. As part of this event, students
will have the chance to set up their stalls and engage in real-world business activities from
handmade crafts to delicious treats, each stall will offer a unique product or service crafted by
our talented student community. The maximum number of participants in a team will be 8.
The competition will be fierce as participants have to sell the highest and clinch the coveted
title of the winner. Beyond the thrill of competition, "Student Corner" is a celebration of
entrepreneurship and a platform for students to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit. Join us
for a day filled with entrepreneurial energy, excitement, and success stories waiting to unfold.

Phases of the Competition

1. Corner on the Canvas


• This is the first phase where the participants are supposed to prepare a poster for their
business.
• The poster should contain Sahyadri Logo.
• Date of submission is 18-03-2024

2. Let the World Know


• In this phase the participants are supposed to prepare reels about their business
• The reels should include Sahyadri logo
• Date of submission is 20-03-2024

3. Corner Pitch
• The participants are supposed to pitch about their business
• The time limit is 5 minutes
• This phase will happen on the day of the inauguration i.e. 22-03-2024

4. Final Showdown
• This is the final phase where final value of your sales will be taken in to consideration
This phase will happen on 23-03-2024 evening.

Criteria/Rules for Corner Pitch
• Each participant will be given 5 minutes to present their pitch.
• Participants must clearly state the name of their brand or Business and the item they are
selling.
• The presentation format is left to the creativity of the participants, allowing for innovative and
engaging pitches.
• Presentations must adhere to a professional standard and avoid any offensive or
inappropriate content.
• Participants should focus on highlighting the unique features and benefits of their product
or service.
• Time will be strictly enforced, and presentations exceeding the allotted 5 minutes will be cut
off.
• Participants are encouraged to use visual aids or props to enhance their presentations, but
they are not mandatory.
• The judging criteria will include factors such as creativity, clarity, persuasiveness, and market
viability.
• The decision of the judges will be final.

Prizes to be awarded based on the overall performance of the participants in


all the phases

General Guidelines
• Use of fire or any other inflammatory objects or equipment’s is prohibited
• Participation in this event is restricted to students only, the team will be disqualified if they
seek help from outside sources.
• Maximum number of Participants in a team is 8.
• Registration fee for the stall is Rs 1500/- per day.

Registration Fee Includes the following:


• A standard banner with the business name, for the stall
will be provided, no need to carry any other banner.
(Product specification banners or charts are entertained).
• Two electric sockets will be provided.
• Water facility is provided.

• Each stall will have 2 volunteers monitoring the sales for judgment.
